JHS Odyssey Flute Outfit
Instruction Manual
Thank you for purchasing this Odyssey Flute Outfit.
To enable you to use and enjoy playing this instrument we offer the following
advice.
The instrument must first be assembled. Please carefully read and follow these
instructions.
1. From the Body carefully remove the small pieces of loose cube shaped cork (usually positioned as indicated n on illustration A) that have been placed to prevent the keywork from moving in transit. DO NOT REMOVE CORK GLUED TO THE KEYWORK.
2. From the Body (2) and Head Joint (3) remove and safely store in your flute case the protective plastic caps (A) and (B). These protectors should always be replaced on to the flute sections when the instrument is stored in it’s case.
3. Remove from the centre of the Body the plastic cleaning rod and also store this.
4. Smear grease (not provided) on to the now exposed joint sections at (A) and (B). This allows the sections to more easily slide together when assembled.
5. Without damaging the keywork and without pressing hard on any keys hold the instrument firmly and by slowly rotating, join together sections (1) and (2) (Fig1.) and then join section (3) (Fig 2.).
6. The instrument should now be lined up as shown in the expanded illustration A.
7. There are many tutor books and videos available from musical instrument or sheet music stores to help you teach yourself to play the flute. We would also recommend you take lessons with a flute teacher.
Have fun and enjoy playing your flute.
If you remain uncertain after reading these guidelines, how to assemble your Odyssey Flute, seek advice at your local music store or from a music teacher.
