Installing the Planar Profile Mounting System
For Planar Profile kits, a template has been supplied in the kit to simplify
installation of the Planar Profile components. If the template has been
misplaced or lost, refer to the product outline drawing for pertinent
dimensions on the location of the Planar Profile mount component locations.
The following steps describe the use of the template to locate components.
Note: The mounting instructions below show a 75” landscape display;
however, any size is similar in procedure.
-
Determine and mark a vertical and horizontal line of the center display of the unit. For mount location verification, it is optional to continue the line or mark the left and right most edge of the display as well as the top.
Center Point of Display Display Outline -
Using the dimensions on the template for the model being installed, mark the location of the upper-left mount position.
-
Install the left mount as indicated. The marked position is the location of the center hole on the mount.
-
Level and install the main support screws. At minimum, two pieces of mounting hardware must be used on a single hanging mount component.
Note: When mounting, it is best practice to install hardware on either side of the hook to distribute the load both vertically and horizontally. Failure to do this may result in the panel flexing outward from the wall. -
Place the opening in the template over the hook of the installed mount so it is resting against the back of the mount, level, and slightly pull to the right to find the labeled hole position for the model and orientation of the display being mounted. Mark this location on the structure.
Note: The “V” notch in the template labeled for the model being installed can be used to verify the center marks made in step 1 are correct. A slight variation in this location is okay due to being able to slightly move the display horizontally once installed.
-
Remove the template and install the right mount in the location marked. The marked position is again the location of the center hole on the mount.
-
Level and install the main support screws. At minimum, two pieces of mounting hardware must be used on a single hanging mount component.
-
Place template vertically on either hook of the installed hanging mounts.
-
Plumb the template, slightly pull down and mark the three locations of the service mounts attachment locations for the model product being installed.
Note: The “V” notch in the template labeled for the model being installed can be used to verify the center marks made in step 1 are correct.
-
Remove the template and repeat steps 8-9 for the other hanging mount
-
Install the service mounts where marked
Note: Two of the side mount attachment locations are slotted, in case when the panel is installed there needs to be a slight vertical adjustment in location. -
Release the locking tabs on the service mounts so they do not interfere with the display installation.
-
Hang the display on the mounting hooks where circled.
Note: It is recommended that capable lift equipment be used to install the displays due to their weight. Planar provides lifting eyes (sold separately) for use with capable equipment (see “Using the Lifting Eyes” in the Planar UltraRes X Series User Manual). If mechanical equipment is unavailable or impractical, Planar supplies lifting straps for use with lifting displays.
Caution: Displays may be very heavy, make sure enough resources are available to lift displays into place on the mount structure. -
If the panel interferes with the locking tabs or the locking tabs are unable to engage, adjust the vertical position of the service mounts to accommodate. Remove the center screw to make this adjustment.
-
Once the display is able to lay flat and the locking tabs engage with the bottom display mount brackets, the locking tabs may be re-tightened to the service mounts to keep the panel from being pulled out.
-
To gain easy access to the rear of the display to connect cables, use the kickstands on the service mounts. Rotate the kickstand down after pulling the panel out. The kickstands will nest into the lower panel mount brackets. Caution: Use both kickstands. Using only one will cause stresses in the panel that can cause damage.
