Active Monitor Speaker

These instructions are intended for users with basic knowledge of audio technology. Please read the instructions carefully prior to operation and keep them for later reference.|

Applications

This compact speaker is ideally suited as a monitor speaker on stage, but it can also be used for other sound applications, e.g. as a support speaker in large sound systems. It is equipped with a 20cm (8”) speaker with coaxial tweeter and class D power amplifier and features a circuit to limit the signal level (limiter) and a protective circuit against overload. The speaker offers an input for microphones and different inputs for audio sources with line signal level. An M10 threaded hole is provided for attaching the speaker to a stand, for example

Overview

All control elements and connections described can be found on page 2.

  1. Tone controls BASS /MID/TREBLE

  2. Status LEDs
    PROTECT protective circuit is active
    SIGNAL signal available
    (ahead of Master)
    LIMIT level limiter is active
    ON power LED
Note: The PROTECT LED lights up for a few seconds after switching on (switch-on delay of the speaker). If it lights up during operation because the protective circuit has switched off the speaker in case of overload, it is necessary to switch the speaker off and on again via the mains switch (12) to continue operation.

  3. Control MASTER VOLUME for the total volume
CAUTION: Never adjust a very high volume. Permanent high volumes may damage your hearing!
Note: To avoid acoustic feedback (loud howling), never position the speaker towards the microphone and always make sure to keep a sufficient distance between the speaker and the microphone.
When the volume is too high, the automatic level limiter will be activated to protect the speaker; the LED LIMIT (2) will light up.

  4. Volume control AUX VOLUME for the inputs AUX INPUT (6)

  5. Volume control MIC VOLUME for the microphone input MIC INPUT (8)
If the LED CLIP (7) lights up, the input level is too high, and the signal is distorted. In case of distortion, slightly turn back the control.

  6. Inputs AUX INPUT (RCA jacks) and 6.3mm stereo jack for mono or stereo audio sources with line level
When a stereo audio source is connected, the stereo signal is mixed to a mono signal. The 6.3mm jack and the RCA jacks can be used at the same time.

  7. Overload LED CLIP for the microphone input

  8. Microphone input MIC INPUT (combined XLR/6.3mm jack)
Note: To remove an XLR plug, press the lever PUSH to unlock.

  9. Input LINE INPUT (combined XLR/6.3mm jack) to connect a mono audio source with line level (e.g. output of a mixer)
Both types of jack are balanced, but it is also possible to connect a signal source with unbalanced output (e. g. musical instrument with 2-pole 6.3mm plug).

  10. XLR jack LINK OUTPUT to route the input signal fed to the jack LINE INPUT (9) to another active speaker system, for example

  11. Switch AUTO POWER OFF to switch off the power automatically if the input signal is missing for approx. 15 minutes
    ENABLE feature activated
    DISABLE feature deactivated
Note: When the speaker has been switched off automatically, it is necessary to switch the speaker off and on again via the mains switch (12) to continue operation.

  12. Mains switch to switch the speaker on/off

  13. Mains jack; use the mains cable provided to connect the speaker to a mains socket (230V/50Hz)

Installation

The speaker can be set up on a flat surface (e.g. floor or table). It is also provided with a M10 threaded hole for attaching it to a stand, for example.
