AUNEX Video Doorbell User Manual

How to pair the doorbell with your smart phone?

  1. Install the UBell APP

  2. Download the UBell APP via the corresponding QR code for Android or IOS system on the package.

  3. Search “UBell” APP in APP Store (IOS) or Google Play Store (Android), download and install the UBell APP.

  4. Make sure the mobile is connected to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
    Note: Please make sure the mobile is connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, as the home routers generally have 2.4GHz and 5GHz, the Wi-Fi signal will probably switch to each other automatically. So please disable the 5GHz signal before pairing.

  5. Please make sure the Wi-Fi is not hidden. If the Wi-Fi is hidden, it will be searched only by the mobiles rather than the doorbell, causing the failure in pairing. Please disable the “Wi-Fi hidden” function then turn on the Wi-Fi. Please double check the WI-FI is 2.4GHz.

  6. In order to avoid battery self-discharge loss, we have adopted an insulation film protection solution on the negative poles of the battery. Please take out the battery inside the doorbell, tear off the transparent insulation film, and then put the battery back inside the doorbell, avoiding the doorbell refuse to turn on and charge due to the insulation film not tore off.

  7. Open the UBell APP, Goes to “Add a device” —-“’Setup device”.

  8. Power on the doorbell, press “Yes” when you’ve heard the doorbell say “The camera is now ready to begin pairing”, then the LED indicator on the doorbell will be blue and blinking.
    If you fail to hear the notification (The camera is now ready to begin pairing), Please hold the “RESET” button for 5 seconds to reset the device (Please kindly note the reset button locates on the up left of the doorbell, you will see it after you’ve removed the backplate) . Please pair again after the indicator is blinking on blue.

    Note:
    Make sure the indicator is blinking on blue, it means that reset successfully, just now operate this pairing.

  9. The UBell APP will automatically recognize the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi name that the mobile phone is linked to, please enter the password no more than 12 characters. The password will not contain special symbols, such as “@” “#” etc. Please click “Next” after entering the password.

    Note:
    The pairing will request a strong Wi-Fi signal, so we will recommend the doorbell 10-15 meters within the router and the mobile phone should be within 20cm with the doorbell.

  10. When pairing, the UBell APP will emit a sound wave, the doorbell will be paired via the sound wave, so please turn the phone volume up to the maximum.

  11. After the pairing completed, please set the “Device name and password”. The “Device name” can be set up to your intend and password is requested to be at least 8 characters, such as “12345678”, “abcdefgh”, “eeeeeeee”.

  12. Please press “Finish” to complete the pairing. Then you can enter the setting to choose the needed setting.

  13. We have presented a SD Card inside the doorbell, Please take it out and format the SD card to FAT32 on a PC, after that re-insert it to the SD card slot.

    Note: For SD card slot, please open the doorbell backplate and battery cover , then you can find the card icon of the “TF” reminder, ahead it, there is a SD card slot, you can insert FAT32 formatted SD card.

How to set the PIR?

  1. After the pairing is completed, open the UBell APP -> Enter the camera -> Setting.
    Please choose SD card or Cloud Storage. We recommend that you use SD card storage, then you need to close Cloud Storage

  2. Please choose the PIR sensitivity “High”/”Medium”/”Low”.
    Note: The PIR sensitivity is influenced by the temperature and the action. Please set it according to your request and the surrounding environment.

Receive notifications frequently?

  1. If the doorbell is installed in a very busy environment, it will frequently trigger PIR, then doorbell may frequently send notifications.
  2. You can set the PIR sensitivity to lower levels (Medium/Low/Disabled) according to the environment to solve this problem. For example, in a stormy or thunder environment, you can turn off the PIR temporarily to avoid frequent alerts.

Recording Videos

The video is recorded when the smart doorbell is activated (someone presses the doorbell or PIR detects motion) , or when the dormancy time selects “not dormant”. The portion of the recorded video time period shows orange color.

How to view the recorded video?

  • If the video is stored on the SD card, the user can view the video of the corresponding time period by scrolling the timeline to the orange area.

  • If the video is stored on cloud storage, the user can open the cloud storage (second icon at the bottom left) to view the recorded video.

  • Please note that the video in the cloud storage is only kept for 7 days. If there is important information, please download the video to your mobile phone.

  • The recommended way is to use the SD card to record.
    Note: when the storage is full, it will be replaced by the new content.

  • If you use cloud storage records, only 7 days of information is retained.
    Note: cloud storage typically only records 8 seconds.

Fail to receive notification

  1. APP setting: Open the APP -> Go to the   setting icon -> Choose “Notification” or “Call in”.

  2. Mobile setting: Please enable the APP permission to receive notification. Mobile Setting -> APP Permission -> Enable a ll the APP Permission.
    Take iPhone as an example:

  3. Choose the request setting on “Accept Call”
    In “Silence” Mode, the phone will not receive any notifications.
    In “Notification” Mode, the notifications will be sent to your mobile phone by Message Push.
    In “Call In” Mode, the notifications will be sent to your mobile phone by phone call.

  4. Please enable the UBell Notifications
    Setting - > Notifications -> UBell -> Allow Notifications

  5. Enable the location Permission of the UBell APP
    Setting - > UBell -> Location -> Always

  6. Some phone system will automatically clean up the APP from running on the backstage to save power, then you will not receive any notification. You need to check the setting and permit the APP to run on the backstage. You can search on search engine ”cell phone model can’t receive the notification”.

Pairing with the chime

If you have purchased our chime, the doorbell need to pair with the chime before using.

  1. Please select the preferable melody with the UP/DOWN button among the 52 melodies, after you’ve chosen the melody, hold the Volume button to confirm, then the LED light on the chime will be on blue, now it is under the pairing status.
  2. Press the push button on the video doorbell within 5 seconds. The LED light will be blinking on blue, indicating the pairing is completed.
  3. Repeat the above steps to pair with multiple device.

Why is battery lasting time short?

  1. The lasting time of the batteries are related to the user environment. If the doorbell is frequently activated, the lasting time will be highly reduced.
    Note: This problem may be caused by improper PIR sensitivity, for example, the doorbell is located in a very busy environment and PIR set to high. Also if the doorbell is mounted directly under the sunshine, in hot summer noon the PIR may be triggered and keep working, the battery last time will be highly reduced.
    There are 3 levels of the PIR (High/Medium/Low), if the sensitivity is set to high, the sensitivity will be very strong and triggered frequently, reducing the lasting time as well.

SD card not recognized

  1. If the SD card shows 0MB on the UBell APP, please take out the card and format it to FAT32 on a PC. After that you should use it properly.
  2. If the SD cad fails to work after format, please contact seller to exchange a new SD card.
  3. There is a 16GB SD card inside doorbell. Just take off the doorbell backplate and battery cover, you can find the TF card icon between the 2 batteries. Front of it, there is a SD card slot.

Can this doorbell be powered by AC input?

  1. Please make sure the AC input is between 8-24Vac.

  2. The way to connect the AC input:
    Open the backplate of the doorbell. There are two screws on the back of the backplate. Screw the two screws out a little. Wrap the AC power cord around the screws. Then tighten the screw.
    Note:

  3. The AC interface of this product is designed to automatically switch between positive and negative. This AC port can recognize the positive and negative pole itself, so either side for the red and black wire will be OK.
    Please make sure that doorbell and its backplate are very well suited, otherwise APP may remind the device to be removed.

  4. There are two ways of power supply, AC input or 18650mAh batteries.
    If you are going to use AC input, please take refer to below picture:

Installation Instructions

Cruise Mode

When the doorbell is recorded by the SD card, press the “Switch” icon, the views will be larger, under this mode, press “Cruise” icon and the camera will enter Cruise Mode and turn from left to right and then back. If you are using cloud storage, convert to SD card and follow above instruction to enter Cruise.

Dormancy Time

In the setting there is an option “Dormancy Time”, there are 15s, 30s, 60s, not dormant optional.

The dormancy time refers to after the PIR has not detected the object, the doorbell will continue to work for a while. After this time, the doorbell will go to sleep and wait for the next wakeup. The “not dormant” state means that the camera will remain on working. If you choose this option, there will be a reminder saying “The PIR alarm will stop working in the dormant state, and the battery will run out in the next few hours”.

How to share one device to multiple phones?

  1. Go to the connected phone.
  2. Get the QR code by going to the setting.
  3. Go to the “Add a device” -> “Scan QR code” in a second phone.

Security Alarm System
When the doorbell backplate is loose, or plugged in, or removed, the white button alarm system on the back of the doorbell is activated and an alarm is sent to the phone.

Security screw + Hex key
Due to safety consideration, we make a special suit in the package: safety screw + hex key, this safety screw can only be applied to our doorbell, if you need to remove it from the doorbell, please use our special hex key to remove it.
