Doorbell 6 – SmartThings configuring sound and volume Print

This page provides step by step instructions to setting the sound and volume of Doorbell 6 and 2 separate examples of using it in SmartThings Connect with the standard device handler and form part of the larger Doorbell 6 user guide.
Follow these steps to configuring your Doorbell 6 output sound when used with SmartThings Home Monitor, these steps assume that your Doorbell 6 is already paired to your SmartThings home network:

Open SmartThings app

Find your Doorbell 6 Widget in the list of devices.

Tap on the Doorbell 6 widget to open up the Doorbell 6 page.

Tap on More Options (3 dot icon – located top right corner)

Tap on Settings in the popup screen

You should now be on the sound/volume control screen (known as preference/setting page), this will give you 3 settings to configure, and an option to send your set configuration.
- Endpoint – this determines what 8 available sounds that you could configure.
- Browse – also the main/parent sound control of Doorbell 6
- Tamper – known as sound 2 in the list of controllable devices, this controls the sound/volume played when the vibration sensor or tamper sensor is triggered (when you move the Doorbell 6 too often).
- Button one – determines the sound/volume of button one when pressed, or when Sound 3 is controlled from SmartThings.
- Button two – determines the sound/volume of button two when pressed, or when Sound 4 is controlled from SmartThings.
- Button three – determines the sound/volume of button three when pressed, or when Sound 5 is controlled from SmartThings.
- Environment – determines the sound/volume when Doorbell 6 receives a environment type z-wave alarm command. (ie. smoke sensors, CO2 sensors, etc)
- Security – determines the sound/volume when Doorbell 6 receives a security type z-wave alarm (ie. motion sensors, door sensors, etc)
- Emergency – determines the sound/volume when Doorbell 6 receives a emergency type z-wave alarm.
- Volume set in % – this determines the volume level of your sound
- Sound # – this determines which of the 30 sounds are played, you can refer #1-30 to the sound previews found on this page here: https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/6000223794-doorbell-6-sound-previews-

First input Endpoin t, for SmartThings Home Monitor, we want this to be set to 1.

Second input Volume set in % , decide what you want here, but for an alarm, I would recommend inputting 100.

Third input Sound # , refer to the sound preview page and decide which sound # you want.

When you are done, click on the toggle switch on step 4 which will push your configuration you’ve done between steps 7-9.

You can test if the sound changed by playing the “ Main ” sound by clicking on “ Siren and Strobe ” under it.
For this example, this will cover how to configure Button one to play “Ding Dong Tubular” which is sound #2 with volume level 70. To break this down for individual settings:
- Endpoint = 3
- Volume set in % = 70
- Sound # = 2

Click on the toggle switch next to “4. Send sound and volume configuration” which will push this configuration to Doorbell 6.

Press Aeotec Button linked to Doorbell 6 which should play the newly configured sound.
For this example, this will cover how to configure Button one to play “Ding Dong Tubular” which is sound #2 with volume level 70. To break this down for individual settings:
- Endpoint = 2
- Volume set in % = 0
- Sound # = any number between 1 – 30 (it doesn’t matter)
