Toaster Safety
- Remove all packaging prior to toasting.
- If the toaster starts to smoke, Press the ‘Cancel’ button to stop toasting immediately.
- Only use the toaster for dry bread. Do not butter bread before toasting.
- Never attempt to dislodge bread trapped in the slots without unplugging the toaster first. Remove bread carefully.
Before First Use
The toaster may emit a metallic odour the first time it is used. This is normal and will not continue. Run the toaster once or twice and allow it to cool again before using it to toast bread.
Using Your Toaster
-
Plug the power cord into the outlet.
-
Set the color control dial to your desired toast color. There are seven settings, from the lightest to the darkest level of toasting (see Diagram 1). To achieve a golden color, set the dial in the middle.
Note: Toasting a single slice will require a lower setting than two slices. If you are using the toaster more than once continuously, later slices will toast more quickly as the device warms up. -
Press down the carriage handle until it latches in place. The ‘Cancel’ light will come on and the appliance will begin toasting. Note: The carriage handle can only be latched when the appliance is plugged in.
-
Once the bread has toasted according to your chosen setting, the carriage handle will pop up (see Diagram 2). You can press the ‘Cancel’ button at any time to stop toasting but do not attempt to lift the carriage handle to end the process.
-
To toast frozen bread, first press the ‘Defrost’ button, then set the color dial to your desired level.
-
To toast only one side of a slice of bread, set the color level, then press the ‘Reheat’ button. The indicator light will come on and the toasting process will continue as usual.
-
To ensure a uniform bread color, wait 30 seconds before toasting again so that the color control can reset.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Before cleaning, unplug the toaster and let it cool down completely.
- Wipe the outside with a soft, damp cloth. Never use metal polish.
- Pull out the crumb tray at the bottom of toaster and empty it. If the toaster is used frequently, empty the tray at least once a week. Make sure the crumb tray is back in place before using the toaster again.
- When not in use or when the appliance is in storage, the power cord may be wound under the bottom of the toaster.
