INTRODUCING THE CUE-100

Thank you for purchasing the Lyngdorf Cue-100 loudspeaker.
Designed and made in Skive, Denmark, the Cue-100 is the perfect loudspeaker for audiophile enthusiasts as well as design-conscious music lovers. The Cue-100 is the first high-end audio loudspeaker merging modern Danish design with the latest Purifi speaker technology and the outstanding Air Motion Transformer tweeter. The benchmark-setting Purifi drivers are integrated in a uniquely shaped cabinet, finished in satin black or satin white with solid oak elements, and optional all-around fabric covers in five colors made by Gabriel® from Denmark.
When using the Cue-100 together with a Lyngdorf amplifier, the RoomPerfect™ technology calibrates the speaker acoustically to the room, always achieving the best possible sound performance.

UNPACKING THE CUE-100

Unpacking the Cue-100 speaker

  1. Move the Cue-100 still boxed in its packaging near the final placement of your listening room.
  2. Open the Cue-100 cardboard box on the top, fold all the carboard flaps to the sides, and carefully turn the box 180 degrees upside-down.
  3. Lift the carboard box up, remove the upper foam pad, and open the plastic bag on top. Do not remove the speaker from the plastic bag yet, but keep it protected until the stand assembling is completed.

Unpacking the Cue-100 oak stand

  1. Carefully lift out the three oak legs.
  2. Lift out the black aluminum based and mounting accessories.

Checking the inventory
Check to ensure that all necessary product components have been delivered. Report all discrepancies to your local Lyngdorf Audio representative immediately.

  • 1 x Owner’s Manual
  • 3 x Metal feet (M8) for optional use

Stand package:

ASSEMBLING CUE-100 SPEAKER AND STAND

Mounting the stand to the speaker

  1. Keep the Cue-100 placed on its foam pad, using it as a mounting base for the speaker. Open the plastic bag so that the speaker base and speaker cable terminals are  accessible.
  2. Switch off your amplifier and attach the speaker cables to the Cue-100 speaker terminals. It can take banana plugs, spades, and bare wire. Make sure the two wires make not contact to each other. Arrange the speaker cable along the speaker base’s cable canal to the back of the speaker.
  3. Place the black aluminum plate on the speaker’s base and align with the three threaded bushings inside the speaker base. Fix the base tightly using the three hex socket  screws and the hex Allen key supplied.
  4. Mount the three oak legs to the black aluminum plate by turning each leg clockwise. Important: Take care of the correct mounting angle where the stand’s metal thread and the plate’s threaded bushing align with the same angle.
  5. Hold the speaker with one hand on one top edge and the other hand below the black aluminum base, and carefully turn speaker and stand assembly 180 degrees around, placing it on its three stand legs. Important: Be careful not to touch the tweeter or push the three woofers which are placed on all three sides.

PLACEMENT IN THE ROOM

General advice
Apart from room design, the speaker placement in the room affects the sound performance. As with every loudspeaker, some care should be taken to achieve the best sound performance.

  • The Cue-100 was designed and tuned free-standing in the room on its dedicated stand.
  • The Cue-100 has one front-facing and two side-facing woofers. The space around all woofers should be kept clear, so that the sound can radiate freely.
  • The distance from the speaker to the nearest back wall and side wall depends on the overall room acoustics and sound performance and cannot be determined in cm or inches.
  • Start with placing the speakers in a typical stereo triangle where the distance between the speakers is similar or slightly less than the distance between the listening position and the left or right speaker. The ideal stereo width and distances can be determined by listening to music, aiming for the most balanced sound across all frequencies, as well as the best sound staging and imaging between the speakers.
  • The Cue-100 can be toed-in slightly towards the listening position. The exact angle of toe-in can be determined by listening to music, aiming for the most balanced sound and a precise acoustical center image.
  • The best result is achieved when using the Cue-100 together with a Lyngdorf amplifier and its RoomPerfect™ room calibration. When not using RoomPerfect™ room calibration, the best speaker position and listening position in the room can be determined by listening to music, aiming for the most balanced sound across all frequencies.

ATTACHING AND REMOVING THE FABRIC COVER

Attaching the fabric cover

grey felt underside, and the three magnetic discs are free from the fabric.

  3. Place the triangular plate and its three magnetic discs on grey felt on top of the Cue-100 speaker, with the fabric seam facing the back of the speaker cabinet. Make sure none of the fabric is jammed between triangular plate and speaker enclosure.

  4. Carefully slide down the fabric cover on all three sides to the speaker enclosure’s gap between speaker and base. Be careful not to push the tweeter or woofers.

  5. Push the fabric’s seam ends gently into the cabinet’s gap on all three sides.

  6. Use the provided black alignment tool to shift the fabric seam completely into the gap.

Removing the fabric cover

  1. Carefully pull the fabric out from the speaker enclosure’s gap by starting on one of the three corner edges near the speaker base.
  2. Slide the fabric cover up by pulling it step by step around the three corner edges.
  3. Lift up the top triangular plate, and replace with the original oak top plate, or with another fabric cover color.
