Before first use

Before using your kettle for the first time, make sure it is thoroughly clean. Fill the kettle to the maximum level, boil the water and pour it away. Do this twice. Wipe down its outer surfaces with a damp cloth.
Note: The kettle’s maximum capacity is 1.7L.

Using your electric kettle

1. Place your kettle on a flat surface.

2. Take your kettle from its base. Open the lid by pressing the release button, then fill the kettle to the desired level and close the lid. The water should be between the minimum and the maximum fill levels. If there is too little water, the kettle will switch off before boiling.

Note: Do not fill beyond the maximum level as water may spurt from the spout while boiling.

3. Place the kettle back on the power base and close the lid.

4. Plug the kettle in and switch it on. The kettle will start to boil. It will switch off automatically once the water has boiled. If you want to use it again, you will need to wait 30 seconds. To stop the water from boiling at any point, simply switch off the kettle or lift it from its base.

Note: Ensure that the switch is not obstructed and the lid is firmly closed. The kettle will keep boiling if the switch cannot release, or if the lid is open.

Note: Avoid spillage on the electrical elements’

5. Lift the kettle from the power base and pour the water.

WARNING! Hot water and steam can scald skin. Do not open the lid when the kettle has just boiled or while the water inside is still very hot. Pour the water carefully.

6. The kettle will not re-boil until the switch is pressed again.
The kettle may be stored on the power base.

Note: Unplug the kettle when not in use.

Note: The outer surface is subject to residual heat after use

7

Boil-dry protection

Should you accidentally switch on the kettle without water, the boil-dry protector will automatically switch the kettle off. If this occurs, allow the kettle to cool before filling it with cold water and re-boiling.

Cleaning and maintenance

1. Always unplug the kettle and let it cool down before cleaning.

2. Never immerse the kettle, power cord or power base in water.

3. Wipe its surface with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

4. Clean the filter regularly. Detach the filter from the inside of the kettle by pressing down on the release tabs. Do not forget to replace the filter after cleaning.

NOTE: Filter is dishwasher safe.

CAUTION: Do not use specialist steel or other abrasive cleaners on the outside of the kettle or you may damage its surface.

5. You may wind the power cord around the bottom of the kettle for storage but ensure that the kettle has cooled down and is empty.

8

Descaling the kettle

You should regularly descale your kettle to ensure that it works properly. You can use a commercially available descaler and follow the instructions on the packet. Alternatively, you can use white vinegar as follows:

  1. Pour three cups of white vinegar into the kettle. Add enough water so that the mixture completely covers the bottom of the kettle. Leave the solution in the kettle overnight.
  2. The following morning, pour away the mixture. Fill the kettle with clean water to the maximum fill level, boil and then discard the water. Repeat several times until the smell of vinegar has completely gone. Any stains remaining inside the spout can be removed by rubbing with a damp cloth.
