GENERAL INFORMATION
STACKING PANELS
To allow temperature and humidity to equalize, stack panels at least three
high in the work area. Do not stack directly on the concrete floor.
SUGGESTED TOOLS
24″ level; tape measure; pencil; chalk line; circular saw; cordless or corded
drill with screwdriver attachment.
SUPPLIES
1½” to 2″ drywall screws or equivalent; panel adhesive; (optional) roundhead
screws for metal inserts. (Ensure that screw heads fit easily into grooves.)
METAL STUDS
Wood screws do not hold well in metal studs. Use wooden blocking whenever
necessary.
BLOCK OR CONCRETE WALLS
First, mount vertical or horizontal furring strips on the wall. Installing
Slatwall directly on concrete or block walls is not recommended.
ALIGNMENT
Installation label on the back of panel displays best “factory edge.” (See
page 2) When stacking Slatwall higher than 4′, ensure that edges line up for
proper panel alignment.
INSTALLATION
GENERAL
1. Install over studs, plaster, furring strips or drywall. Panel adhesive
recommended.
2. Use drywall screws of proper length.
3. Install a screw in every other groove on each stud.
4. Drive screws into grooves. Be careful not to damage the edges of grooves.
STARTING OFF
Snap chalk line at the desired height on the wall. Mark location of studs on
floor and ceiling (for mounting panels later). To ensure clean installation on
projects requiring more than one panel, begin with a narrow panel first and
finish with a full panel.
FIRST PANEL
Following the manufacturer’s directions, spread adhesive vertically on the
back of the panel (half-tube of adhesive per panel). Raise the first panel to
the chalk line and install a screw through the top of the groove into a stud
near one of the upper corners.
REMAINING PANELS
Repeat the process on the bottom row of panels, ensuring that grooves and
factory edges line up from panel to panel. On installations without drywall
(such as garages), make sure the end of each panel is centered in the middle
of the stud.
CUTTING PANELS
When using a circular saw, use a straight edge guide for the saw to follow.
Never cut “freehand”. Always cut from the front (finished side) of the panel.
CUTTING PANELS WITH ALUMINUM INSERTS
It is not necessary to remove aluminum inserts from grooves when cutting
panels.
CLEAN UP
Remove any adhesive or marking on the face of panels with a solvent such as
lacquer thinner. Clean panels with a mild household cleaner and dry with a
soft cloth.
FOR BEST GROOVE ALIGNMENT INSTALL PANELS WITH LABELS AS SHOWN
