Potting Recommendations:
Due to the size of this planter, we strongly recommend the use of a good
quality potting mix that encourages proper drainage. If you are concerned with
the drainage properties of your potting mix you can add more perlite or other
organic matter. To minimize the amount of potting mix required, fill the
bottom with 8 to 10 inches of lightweight filler. Some suggestions for
lightweight fillers include lava rock, mulch, wood chips, or foam packing
peanuts (don’t use foam packing peanuts if you are growing edible plants).
Indoor Use : To allow for indoor use, the Fairfield Square planter does
not come with any pre-drilled drainage holes.
Outdoor Use: For outdoor use, drainage holes need to be drilled to
provide a proper overflow of excess water. Failing to drill drainage hose may
cause oversaturation of the planted goods and in some cases may cause bowing
or bulging of the walls of the planters.
