Explanation of symbols
The symbol with the lightning in the triangle is used if there is a risk to your health, e.g. due to an electric shock.
The symbol with the exclamation mark in the triangle is used to indicate important information in these operating instructions. Always read this information carefully.
The arrow symbol indicates special information and advice on operation.
For indoor use only.
The equipment has been inspected and complies with EMC directive 2014/30/EU and low voltage directive 2014/35/EU.
Protection class II (double insulated).
This symbol indicates that the product meets the energy efficiency requirements for Class VI.
Intended use
This power supply unit is designed to operate a range of electronic devices such as hand-held computers, portable CD players, mini-TVs etc. The broad input range enables operation at electric power supplies ranging from 100 to 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz.
Seven levels of stabilized output DC voltage, from 3 V to 12 V DC (3/4.5/5/6/7.5/9/12 V DC), can be selected. The power supply unit includes eight different low-voltage connectors suitable for the most common connection types. Inverting the polarity of the low voltage connector enables polarity selection.
The power supply unit is overload protected. Nevertheless, the load’s power consumption may not exceed the nominal rating of the power supply unit (according to the voltage mode setting). The power supply unit’s technology enables high output current despite the unit’s small dimensions and low weight.
It is intended for indoor use only. Contact with moisture must be avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use can result in short circuits, fires, electric shocks or other hazards. Read the instructions carefully and store them in a safe place. Make this product available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.

Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee
a) General information
- The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
- Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing material for children.
- Protect the device from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity, moisture, flammable gases, steam and solvents.
- Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
- If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
- Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage the product.
- Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the device.
- Maintenance, modifications and repairs must only be completed by a technician or an authorised repair centre.
- If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.
b) Connected devices
Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected to the product.
c) Power adaptor
-
Only connect the power adaptor to a normal mains socket connected to the public supply. Before plugging in the power adaptor, check whether the voltage stated on the power adaptor complies with the voltage of your electricity supplier.
-
Never connect or disconnect power adaptors if your hands are wet.
-
Never unplug the power adaptor from the mains socket by pulling on the cable; always use the grips on the plug.
-
When setting up the product, make sure that the cable is not pinched, kinked or damaged by sharp edges.
-
Always lay the cables so that nobody can trip over or become entangled in them.
This poses a risk of injury. -
For safety reasons, disconnect the power adaptor from the mains socket during storms.
-
The power supply unit generates heat during operation. Ensure sufficient ventilation for the device.
-
The product should not be used immediately after it has been brought from an area of cold temperature to an area of warm temperature. Condensed water might destroy the product. Wait until the product adapts to the new ambient temperature before use.
-
Never pour liquids over electrical appliances and never leave objects filled with liquids (e.g. vases) on it or in the vicinity. There is a high risk of fire or lifethreatening electric shock.
d) Facilities
- In schools, training facilities, hobby or self-service workshops, handling of electrical devices must be monitored by trained personnel.
- When operating on commercial premises, the relevant accident prevention regulations of workers’ compensation boards for electrical equipment must be observed.
Operating elements
- Power cord
- Voltage mode switch
- Power plug
- Low voltage socket
- Low voltage plug (E.g. One of eight connectors)
- Switching Key
Operation
a) Setting of desired output voltage
CAUTION! Turn the output voltage on only when in no-load operation! Observe the operating voltage of the connected load!
The unit’s output voltage is set by the voltage mode switch. The seven voltage values which can be selected are printed in a circle around the voltage mode switch.
Voltage can be set as follows:
- Unplug the power cord from the mains and make sure that there is no load connected to the unit.
- Turn the voltage mode switch using the switching key; ensure that the arrow points to the voltage value corresponding to the input voltage of your load. The voltage mode switch has to click into place.
b) Polarity selection for low voltage connectors
- Choose one of the eight low voltage connectors with the dimensions matching your load exactly. Two settings are possible:
- Observe the respective polarity symbol – ○)+ or – (○+ for the correct setting.
- Insert the connector in such a way that the arrow under the corresponding polarity symbol points to the arrow of the charging cable’s low voltage socket. The connector is designed to make unplugging relatively difficult.
c) Establishing voltage supply
- Make sure that the load to be connected to the power supply unit is turned off.
- Then connect the low voltage connector to the power supply socket of your load.
- Plug the standardised European plug to a standard mains socket.
Never use the power supply unit when it has been opened, shows a damaged power
cord/connection or a damaged (cracked/broken) housing. Possible danger to
life!
Before operation, check whether the AC line voltage is within the allowable
range.
Care and cleaning
Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions as they can cause damage to the housing and malfunctioning.
- This product requires no maintenance. Never attempt to disassemble it. This product must only be repaired by an expert or a service shop, as otherwise it might be damaged.
- Disconnect the product from the mains before each cleaning.
- Clean the product with a dry, fibre-free cloth.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible solution |
---|---|
No power to connected device | No supply voltage, check the following: |
• The fuse of the mains socket.
• If the mains plug is correctly connected.
• If the correct voltage been set.
• The correct polarity been selected.
• If the power supply unit overloaded.
• If the voltage selection switch has properly clicked into place.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
You thus fulfill your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
