Instructions Guide

Charging the Hobson speaker
  1. To make the tower speaker portable, you must charge the unit. To do so, take the Echo Dot (1st or 2nd Gen) off charge and
    remove the power cable.

  2. Now use the Echo Dot’s power cable to charge up the Hobson speaker. Plug it into the micro-USB port (Ref.8) of the tower
    speaker and connect to a mains power source to begin charging.
    It can take up to 4.5 hours to fully charge the speaker.

  3. Turn on the unit by pressing and holding the Power button (Ref.5).

  4.  Refer to the power button indicator light (Ref.5) for the battery life of the Hobson speaker:

Recharging

A power cable is not supplied with the unit. Please only use the Amazon Echo Dot’s (1st or 2nd Generation) micro-USB 9W adapter power cable to charge and/or power the Hobson Free tower speaker.
For guidance on how to charge the unit, please refer to page 4.
Battery Life
It can take up to 4.5 hours to fully charge the tower speaker for portability. When the Hobson tower speaker is fully charged and switched on, the power indicator light (Ref.5) will be static green with no flashing.
The battery life for portability is approximately 6 hours if in continual use with the Echo Dot function.
The rechargeable battery can supply up to 20 hours of portability if the Echo Dot is removed, and a device is plugged in via the AUX-In port (Ref.6).

Connecting your Echo Dot
  1. Unplug your Echo Dot from the charge and place the Dot into the docking tray of the speaker tower (Ref.1). Ensure that the sorts of the Echo Dot are both able to be accessed via the silicone cover compartment.
  2.  Pull back the rear silicone cover to view the ports of the Echo Dot. Follow by plugging in Hobson’s internal USB cable (Ref.2) and AUX cable (Ref.3) into the Echo Dot’s USB and AUX port.
  3.  If the tower speaker has been fully charged, the unit will now be ready to take on the go.
  4. Please ensure that the Echo Dot has been set up according to Amazon guidance.
Removing the Echo Dot from the tower
  1. Before removing the Echo Dot from the speaker, it is advised that the tower speaker is removed from charge and with the power off.
  2.  To remove the Echo Dot from the powered speaker, open the silicone cover (Ref.4).
  3.  Remove the USB cable (Ref.2) and AUX cable (Ref.3) from the Echo Dot ports.
  4. Via the compartment, push the Echo Dot up from the docking tray to remove it from the unit.
AUX Connections: Play from or to other devices

AUX-In
To begin playing audio from an alternative device such as a phone, you can connect it to the Hobson tower speaker via the AUX-In port (Ref.6).
Simply plug an 3.5mm AUX cable into your device and connect to the Hobson tower speaker. Begin playing music from your device.
Control the Play/Pause, Next/Previous and the volume via your connected device.
AUX-Out
To connect a sound speaker or sound system to the Hobson tower speaker, plug a 3.5mm AUX cable via the AUX-Out port (Ref.7). Connect the AUX cable from the Hobson tower to your external speaker system.

Troubleshooting

If the speaker tower does not work properly as desired, please use the following checklist:

Please ensure that the unit is being powered or fully charged by the Echo Dot mains power cable.

No sound|

Check whether the tower’s internal cables are properly installed into the Echo Dot via the USB and AUX ports.

Sound is distorted| Please ensure that the cables are properly installed into the Echo Dot, and your unit is set up properly.
AUX-in/AUX out sound issues|

Check that you are using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm AUX cable to connect the speaker to your device.
Ensure that if connecting to a device such as a phone or a tablet, that you are using the AUX-in port.
Ensure that if connecting an external speaker to the unit that you are using the AUX-out port.

  12. No naked flame sources, such as lit candles, should be placed on the apparatus.
  13. Dispose of used electrical products and batteries safely according to your local authority and regulations.

ADDITIONAL WARNINGS
The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with liquid, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.
Main plug is used to disconnect the device and it should remain readily operable during intended use. In order to disconnect the apparatus from the main mains completely, the mains plug should be disconnected from the main socket outlet completely.
The battery shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, or the like.
