Product Usage Instructions

Installation Steps

Horizontal Mounting

  1. Ensure the damper is mounted horizontally.
  2. Match drill flanges of ductwork and damper.
  3. Use a mating seal between the ductwork flange and the damper flange.
  4. Loosely install bolts and nuts in flange holes.
  5. Align ductwork with a damper to ensure smooth blade operation.
  6. Tighten bolts and nuts evenly in a staggered pattern for proper compression of the gasket.

Vertical Mounting

  1. Ensure the damper is mounted vertically.
  2. Follow similar steps as for horizontal mounting but adjust for vertical orientation.

Mating Seal

The preferred mating seal is a gasket cut from closed-cell silicone foam with medium hardness. Other appropriate seal materials may be used.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Q: Can Bubble bubble-tight dampers be welded into place?
    A: Ruskin does NOT recommend welding Bubble Tight Dampers into place as per the installation instructions.

  • Q: Are flange holes included in the dampers?
    A: Dampers come standard WITHOUT flange holes. Flanges need to be drilled to match during installation.

  • Q: What should be done if ductwork alignment hinders blade operation?
    A: Ensure proper alignment during installation so that the ductwork does not hinder the operation of the blade. Adjust as needed for smooth operation.

  • Q: Can the gasket material be substituted with other materials?
    A: While a gasket cut from closed cell silicone foam is recommended, other appropriate seal materials may be used based on application requirements.

SCOPE

Provide general guidance for the installation of Ruskin Bubble Tight products. Ruskin Bubble Tight Dampers are designed to be mounted in-line with ductwork.

  • Failure to follow these instructions may void warranties.
  • Dampers come standard WITHOUT flange holes.
  • Ruskin does NOT recommend Bubble Tight Dampers be welded into place.
  • Dampers are designed to be installed with axles Horizontal only

IN-LINE DUCT MOUNTING

Ductwork Flange face must be flat

  1. Match drill flanges of ductwork and damper.
  2. Use a mating seal between ductwork flange and damper flange, loosely install bolts and nuts in flange holes.
  3. Ensure ductwork is aligned with damper and does NOT hinder the operation of the blade to open or close.
  4. Once ductwork and damper are aligned, and all bolt and nuts are loosely installed. Tighten bolts and nuts to an even torque and in a staggard pattern so that gasket is smoothly and evenly compressed.

NOTES:
Preferred Mating Seal is a gasket cut from closed cell silicone foam, medium hardness.
Other appropriate seal materials may be used.
