How to replace the Hot Rod with the WiFi Grill

Warning: Before you begin make sure the item is unplugged from the power source.

To take the bottom panel off the hopper, unscrew the 4 screws on the bottom of the hopper.

Then take out the 3 screws on the left side of the hopper. At the bottom of the side panel.

Please note that when installing the bottom panel back into place, you will want to make sure this lip is tucked inside the panel before tightening your screws on the bottom.

Unfasten the “A” set of wires. Please note, you may have to cut a zip tie to get to the wires.

When the “A” clasp has been unfastened, follow the wire back to the hole on the side of where the fan attaches. Once you find the hole, push the clasp through the hole. This will make it easier when pulling out the hot rod later.

Now if you open the lid of your smoker, then pull out the cooking grate, drip pan, and shift the heat defector to the side, you will see your burn cup. Remove the 4 sets of screws that have this attached to the hopper.

When the 4 screws are removed, angle the cup out, to get to the hot rod.

When you have the burn cup out, you will remove the set screw to the hot rod to free it from the burn cup. Place the burn cup off to the side, and make sure you place the old hot rod away from the new one.

To install the new hot rod, you will need to remove the blower fan and then feed it through the auger shaft. To do this, there are just 4 more screws to remove. Once you feed the hot rod down the shaft, place the clasp through the hole, you pushed the old one through on the side of were the fan mounts. Once you have done this, you can re-install the fan into place.

Now move back to the burn cup. Please note, where you have the clasp pushed through the hole, you will have less room to work with. Do not pull to hard on the hot rod, or you will pull the clasp off. Bring the burn cup to the opening and install the hot rod so it is out about a half an inch to a quarter of an inch. Tighten the set screw and then angle the burn cup back in. Once the burn cup is in place, you can tighten the screws.
