KEYLOCK FUNCTION

DEFINITION OF KEY OPERATIONS
There are 3 operational modes for the buttons on the radio: short press, long press and hold. Unless stated otherwise, all operations described in this document are short press. Short press: press the key briefly, and the function starts to work.
Long press: Press and hold for more than 1.2 seconds. This invokes the long- press function of the button.
Hold on: Press and hold the button. The function will continue to work while the key is depressed. This is useful for functions such as tuning to the desired radio frequency, or fast-forwarding/rewinding MP3 tracks.

LOCK/UNLOCK KEYS
LOCK: Long press < >, all the keys except this key will be locked with the “ ” symbol shown on the display.
UNLOCK: After keys are locked, long-press < > to unlock keys, and the “ ” symbol disappears.

BATTERY POWER SUPPLY

LITHIUM BATTERY POWER SUPPLY
Please use the included original lithium battery to power this product. Only use genuine TIVDIO batteries or TIVDIO approved batteries for this product. Do not use any third-party or no-name battery as it may cause damage to this product and can pose a fire, explosion, and/or injury risk.

INSTALLING THE BATTERY

  1. Turn off the radio and open the battery cover.
  2. Install the provided lithium battery according to the battery polarity.
  3. Close the battery cover.

BATTERY LEVEL INDICATOR

  1. Full

  2. Medium

  4. Empty

CHARGING THE LITHIUM BATTERY

External adapter (not included)
Please use a matched adapter ( 5V DC/500mA , USB port) to charge the radio.

  1. Install the lithium battery.
  2. To charge the battery, connect the Micro-USB cable to the radio and the other end to a USB adapter.
  3. While charging, the battery symbol shown on the display moves from right to left and stops when the battery is fully charged. At this point disconnect the radio from the adapter.

NOTE:
When charging, press < > to turn the radio on or off. Alternating current (A/C) can interfere with receiving radio signals so it is recommended that you do not use radio mode while the radio is charging.
Do not use the device if the battery is being charged from empty. It is recommended that the battery be charged to 100% once every 2 months if the device is not to be used for a long time.

Charged from a PC

  1. Connect the radio to the computer using the provided USB cable.
  2. Charging is indicated by the battery symbol on the radio display
  3. Full battery charge is indicated once the battery stops flashing
    NOTE: When the device is being charged from a PC, a USB symbol will appear on the radio display.
    When Micro SD/TF card or USB drive is inserted, press < > twice and select Music
    Mode to play the music.

MAIN MENU

POWER ON/OFF
Press the < > button to turn the radio on or off
Auto turns off: The radio will turn off automatically in 3 minutes without any operation in Main Menu mode.

With the radio on, long press

to get to the main menu interface.

In Main Menu, press

to select from the following menu items:
Radio: FM/AM /SW Radio
Music: MP3 music play mode
Text browser (Ebook): Text reading mode

PLAY THE RADIO

HOW TO PLAY THE RADIO?
In Main Menu, select Radio and press

to listen to FM, the tuned frequency is shown on the display.
Repeatedly pressing the<RADIO/MP3> button toggles between Radio or Music Mode.

NOTE: It is not recommended to listen to FM broadcasts while the radio is connected to an external USB power adapter or to a computer USB port due to interference.

BANDS SELECTION
To select the FM band, press the <FM/ST/+10> button, “FM” will be displayed
To select the AM band, press the <MW/-10> button. “MW” will appear on the display.
To select the SW band, press the . <SW-/ or > <SW+/ >button. “SW ” will appear on the display Press <SW-/ >or<SW+/ > to select M band

SELECT FM FREQUENCY RANGE
When listening to FM, press

to enter the following sub-menu:
Ordinary band: 87-108MHz
Campus radio: 64-108 MHz
Japanese FM: MHz 76-90
Enter into Main Menu
Exit

STEREO/MONO SELECTION
Stereo or mono can be selected when listening to FM broadcasts. Press <FM/ST/+10> button to toggle between stereo and mono. “ST” will be displayed if the stereo mode is selected. In mono mode, “ST” is not displayed.

Suggestions:

  1. Stereo mode is best for strong signals such as those originating from local stations.
  2. Mono mode is best for distant or low-power stations.
    This is because stereo decoding of the signal can add noise

9K/10K MW TUNING STEPS
When listening to MW, rotate <-TUNING+> knob to the minimum frequency setting, and then long press<MW/-10>button to select 9K/10K. When “522” appears in the display, it indicates 9K step is selected; When it shows “520, it indicates 10K steps is selected.
VOLUME / MUTE
To increase volume, press <V+>; To decrease volume, press , the volume adjustment will be shown In the display.
Press < > to mute, press again to restore the sound.
TUNING IN STATIONS
For optimal performance, it is best to tune the radio outside concrete buildings and away from high voltage A/C electrical equipment, transformers, and power sources. Extend and position the antenna to get the best signal reception.

Suggestions:
When tuning indoors, better reception can be obtained if the radio is tuned outside on a balcony or patio, or near a window. AC current can interfere with radio reception so it is preferable to use battery power while tuning the radio. It is not recommended to use the radio when charging the battery.

Using telescopic antenna:
The telescopic antenna is used for FM and SW. Extend and orient the antenna to improve reception.

Using built-in antenna:
The ferrite rod antenna built-in is used for MW (AM) reception. Changing the radio’s position can yield improved reception.

Tuning station methods:
Turn on the device in radio mode. Set the volume to the preferred level. Select the desired band and rotate the <-TUNING> knob until the desired station is obtained.

CALENDAR
Select [Calendar] in Main Menu, press [MENU] to display the date, time, any day of the week. You can press the < > button to advance the calendar. Also can use <SW-/ >or<SW+/ > to adjust the year, month and day.

PLAYING MUSIC

With the device powered off, insert a micro SD/TF card or a USB drive containing MP3/WMA/WAV format audio files into the corresponding slot on the radio.
Then turn on the radio and select [Music] in the Main menu, press

to enter music playing mode, the display will show information about the currently playing song or audio file.
In Radio mode, press <Radio/MP3> to directly switch over to Music mode.

NOTES:
Insert or remove the SD card or USB drive only while the device is powered off. Removing or inserting an SD card or USB stick while the unit is powered may cause damage to the unit, card, or both.
If Music mode cannot be entered, please check if the card or USB drive was inserted correctly.

PLAY AND PAUSE
When the music is playing, Press < > to pause, the pause symbol “ ” will show on the display. Press < > again to resume playing.

SELECT MUSIC FILES
Previous track: Press <SW-/ >to select the Previous song; press and hold to rewind. Press<MW/-10> to remind back 10 tracks.

Next track: Press <SW+/ > to select the next song; press and hold to fast forward. Press <FM/ST/+10> to skip forward by 10 tracks.

SONG SELECTION
In music mode, Press < > button to activate menu, press < > to move the cursor. Press <SW-/ > <SW+/ > and to select a track number. After selecting the desired track, press < > to play the song.

REPEAT MODE SELECTION
While the music is playing, Press to select the desired type of repeat function.The repeat options are: <SW-/ > or <SW+/ >

EQUALIZER SELECTION
When the music is playing, Press to select “EQ” mode, Press

<SW-/ > or <SW+/ > enter into the menu, Select desired EQ mode, then press to confirm. The EQ mode selected will be indicated on the display.

LYRICS DISPLAY
Both Chinese and English lyrics are supported and can be shown on the display. The lyrics file must be in .lrc format, use the same name as the song, and must be located in the same folder. Some Chinese characters may be illegible or missing on the display, because of the many variations that exist.

DELETE MUSIC FILES
Pause the currently playing audio file, and Press

to enter the following settings:
– Delete file: Delete a single music file
– Delete all: Delete all music files
To operate the above settings, Press to enter or confirm, press <SW-/ > <SW+/ > or for selection.

TEXT BROWSER
Insert the micro SD/TF card or USB drive with a .txt format text file, then you can read the file with the radio.
Select [Text browser] in the Main menu, press

to enter, and select your desired file. Then press to start reading, press or <SW-/ > <SW+/ > to turn pages.
When reading, press to enter the below settings:
– File selection: select a particular file
– Play set: Manual or Auto play selection
– Playback speed
– Enter main: Enter Main menu
– Exit

SYSTEM SETTINGS
Select [System Settings] in the Main menu, Press

to display the following submenu:
– System time
– Backlight
– Language
– Tools
– Contrast
– Firmware version
– Restore factory settings
– Exit

DATE AND TIME SET
Select [System time] in System Settings, Press

to enter date and time set mode. Press to move the cursor and press or <SW-/ > to adjust. Press to save. Press <SW+/ > again, to exit date and time set mode.

NOTE: Operate time for each step is about 5 seconds.

Press in the Main menu to show the time of day on the display (like a clock)

SLEEP TIMER
In SW-/ System Settings , select [Tools] – [Sleep timer], press

to enter. Press <SW-/  > or <SW+/ > to adjust the auto turn off timer from 00 – 90, select 00 to turn off the sleep timer. Press to confirm and exit.
The radio will turn off automatically when reaches the preset timer.
After setting the sleep timer, [  ] will show on the display when the time is displayed.

BACKLIGHT TIMER
Select [Backlight] in System Settings, press

to enter. Press <SW-/ > or <SW+/ > to adjust the backlight timer from 03-240 (seconds), press to confirm and exit.

LANGUAGE SELECTION
Select [Language] in System Settings, press

to enter. Press <SW-/ > or <SW+/ > to select your desired language.

CONTRAST SET
Select [Contrast] in System Settings, Press

to enter. Press <SW-/ > or <SW+/ > to adjust the contrast from 00-16, press to confirm and exit.

TURN ON/OFF KEY TONE
In System Settings, select [Tools] – [Touch-tune (off)]. Press

to turn on the key tone, and [Keypad tones (on)] shows on the display. While [Keypad tones (on)] will appear on the displays, select it and press to turn off the key tone.

FIRMWARE VERSION
Select [Firmware version] in System Settings, press

to display the firmware version information.

ALARM SET
In System Settings, select [Tools] – [Alarm]. Press

to see the following submenu:
– Alarm Off
Press to set the alarm on or off. [Alarm Off] indicates the alarm is off, [Alarm ON] indicates the alarm is activated.

– Alarm Time
Press <SW+/ > or <SW-/ > to adjust the desired alarm Hour and the Minute, Press

to move the cursor, and then Press to save the alarm time and exit.

– Alarm Cycle
You can select [Ring Once], [Ring Daily], or [Ring multi-day].
Ring Once: Press <SW+/ > or <SW-/ > to adjust the Year, Month, and day, Press

to move the cursor, and press to save and exit. Ring Daily: Alarm sounds every day at the set time Ring multi-day: Select from Monday to Sunday, Press to select, and tick icon will appear on the display. Press to save and exit.

– Alarm Mode
Ringtone alarm: the device will “wake” with a ringtone sound.
Radio alarm: the device will “wake” to the last radio station tuned to.
Music alarm: The device will “wake” with a song from the T-Flash/micro SD card..

– Exit
When the alarm is enabled, [ ] appears on the display, When the preset time is reached, the radio will sound according to the mode selected. This can be a ringtone, a radio station, or an audio file on the inserted SD/TF card.
If the selected mode is [Ring Embedded], pressing any button will silence the ringtone after the alarm goes off.

RESET
Select [Restore factory settings] in System Settings, Press

note that [Restore factory sett, NO] shows on the display. Press <SW-/ > or <SW+/ > to make [NO] or [YES] will alternate on the display. Select [YES] and press

to confirm reset.

USE AS AN ACTIVE LOUDSPEAKER (LINE-IN)
The radio has a line-in function and can be used as an active loudspeaker by connecting it to other media devices such as laptops, voice recorders, CD cell phones,s or even another Mp3 player using a line-in cable.
Plug one end of the line-in cable to the headphone jack of the media device, and the other end into the jack on the side of the radio. [ AUX ] will appear on the display, then play the audio from the media device.
The radio can also be used as a computer speaker. Use a USB cable to connect the radio to a computer, the audio from the computer will be played through this device’s speaker.

CAUTION

BATTERY SAFETY INFORMATION

  1. Use the battery under normal conditions, ideal temperature: (20±5)°C, relative humidity: 65 ± 20%. Under normal circumstances, the battery can be charged and discharged about 300 times.
  2. Do not expose the battery to heat or high pressure, do not drop the battery. Do not allow children to handle or play with the battery.
  3. Do not short-circuit the battery. Do not attempt to disassemble the battery. Do not expose the battery to damp or wet environments.
  4. If not used for an extended period of time, remove the battery and store it in a safe manner. Please use a nonconductive material to wrap the battery in order to avoid direct contact with metal. You can avoid damages by keeping the battery in a cool dry place.
  5. Dispose of the battery properly in a safe, environmentally friendly manner. Never dispose of batteries in a fire because they could explode.
  6. Do not keep the device or battery in direct sunlight or high heat environments. This can lead to product deformation and will reduce the performance and life span of the battery.

Avoid Choking Hazard
Small Parts. Not for children under 3 years.

Protect your hearing

  • Use the lowest volume necessary to do your job.
  • Turn up the volume only if you are in noisy surroundings.
  • Turn down the volume before adding a headset or earpiece.
  • Limit the amount of time you use headsets or earpieces at high volume.
  • When using the radio without a headset or earpiece, do not place the radio’s speaker directly against your ear

Note: Exposure to loud noises from any source for extended periods of time may temporarily or permanently affect your hearing. The louder the radio’s volume, the less time is required before your hearing could be affected. Hearing damage from loud noise is sometimes undetectable at first and can have a cumulative effect.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  1. The device does not turn on.
    Check if the battery is charged. If not, charge the battery.

  2. Can not be connected to a computer.
    Connect the device to the computer only if the device is powered off.
    The USB cable may be damaged, please try another one.

  3. Speaker does not sound.
    Check if the volume level is too low, turn it up.

  4. Can not play audio from the Micro SD(TF) card or USB drive.
    Make sure the SD/TF card or USB stick is properly inserted.
    Possibly the card or USB drive isn’t compatible.
    Try a different SD/TF card or USB drive.
    Check that the file(s) on the card is present, are not damaged, and are of the proper format.

  5. Can not charge the radio.
    Check if the external adapter or the USB cable was connected correctly.
    Check if the adapter or USB cable is damaged.

  6. To reset the radio
    Remove the battery for a few minutes. Then reset the battery. Note that failure to follow the procedures outlined in this booklet can lead to firmware errors.
