ROCKBOARD PatchWorks Solderless Patch Cable System
Thank you for choosing the RockBoard® PatchWorks® Solderless Patch Cable System
The RockBoard® PatchWorks® Solderless Patch Cable System is an innovative
system that allows you to create varying length, high-quality patch cables
quickly and easily without any soldering required. This inventive design,
developed in Germany, uses a two-part adjustable connector and saves valuable
space on the pedalboard by allowing a straight or angled connection.
Using the high-quality audio cables and compact, gold plated ¼” plugs
guarantees a short, clean signal path and pristine signal quality.
Preparation and Assembly
Step 1
Measure the desired cable length and add approximately 2 3/8″ for both
connectors. For a patch cable of 6″ in length, you need about 8 3/8″ of cable.
Step 2
Cut the cable to the required length by using the included PatchWorks® Cable
Cutter.
Step 3
Ensure that the cut surface is even and straight for a secure connection
between the signal conductor, the braided shielding, and the appropriate
contacts in the connector to avoid signal loss.
Step 4
Remove the screws from two PatchWorks® Solderless Plugs using the provided
PatchWorks® TX8 wrench. Carefully set the screws in a safe place.
Step 5
Slip the rear part of the PatchWorks® Solderless 2-Piece Plug about 2″ over
the cable.
The RockBoard® PatchWorks® Solderless Patch Cable System offers you the versatility of a straight or angled patch cable plug. With an adjustable housing system, you can craft the perfect signal route every time, regardless of jack placement on your effects pedals.
Assembling a straight PatchWorks® solderless plug
Step 1
Fit the cable into the front section of the two-part plug. Then turn the front
part of the plug by 180 degrees around its axis while pressing slightly to
ensure a good connection between plug and cable. The plug should now stick to
the audio cable.
Step 2
Align the small rear unit of the two-part plug with the front unit of the
plug. Slide the two components together and position the screw holes over each
other.
Step 3
Screw the two parts together using the supplied PatchWorks® TX8 wrench. For a
good grip and an optimal connection, the screw must be flush with the
connector housing.
Repeat steps 6 through 8 to complete the other end of your PatchWorks®
Solderless Patch Cable. Use a cable tester to check the conductivity of your
patch cables before using them in your signal chain. Should there be a short
or poor conductivity, disassemble the patch cable and check the surface on
both sides. Should the connection be compromised, repeat the assembly steps
from 1 to 5.
Enjoy your new RockBoard® PatchWorks® Solderless Patch Cable System!
Assembling an angled PatchWorks® solderless plug:
Step 1
Fit the cable into the front section of the two-part plug. Then turn the front
part of the plug by 180 degrees around its axis while pressing slightly to
ensure a good connection between plug and cable. The plug should now stick to
the audio cable.
Step 2
Bend the cable by 90 degrees at the point where it protrudes from the front
unit of the two-part plug. Align and fit the small rear part into the rotated
front plug unit. Position both screw ho-les over each other.
