Equipment used with your JOKO must meet current standards in your country (e.g. EN 12275 connectors).

Preparation

Clip a locking (preferably auto-locking) carabiner in the connection hole(s).

Installing the JOKO lanyard

6a. Connection to the harness
Using the attachment loop, make a girth hitch on the harness attachment point. Use only a girth hitch to connect the JOKO lanyard to the harness.
6b. Connecting a second system
WARNING: if a system other than the JOKO is necessary, it must be connected to the harness attachment point and never to the JOKO attachment loop. If necessary, clearly identify the attachment area on the harness with a colored mark or a dedicated quick link.

EN 17109: 2020

The JOKO lanyard, when combined with a VERTIGO WL or VERTIGO WL PARK + CAPTIVA connector or with any other EN 17109 mobile connection device, constitutes an EN 17109: 2020 certified individual safety system.
The following connections must be non-openable (e.g. girth hitch), or openable only with a tool: mobile connection device/lanyard, lanyard/harness connection system, and harness connection system/harness.

Horizontal progression

8a. When moving, always use two lanyard ends.
8b. Passing an intermediate anchor (see diagrams).
8c. The anchor point must always be situated above the user.
8d. WARNING – DANGER OF DEATH: this lanyard is not an energy absorber.
Not for use in via Ferrata, or any other similar situation.
Precautions
– A knot in the rope reduces its strength.
– A wet or icy rope is weaker and less abrasion-resistant.
– WARNING: avoid rubbing against sharp edges, as doing so can sever the lanyard.

Progression on a zip line

Clearance: the amount of free space below the user

The free space below the user must be sufficient to prevent the user from hitting an obstacle in case of a fall.
WARNING: if there is a fall risk (maximum fall factor: 0.5), allow for clearance of the lanyard length plus 2.20 m.

Precautions for use

Any force applied directly between the two lanyard ends can damage the connection-point stitching and endanger the user.
Wet or icy conditions can alter the lanyard’s performance.
WARNING : double lanyards can present a risk of strangulation, or of injury to the larynx
