Product Usage Instructions
Measurement and Preparation:
Upon unboxing the inletting tool, measure the size of the inlet hole to be
cut. For a fly reel seat, match the fly seat hood outside diameter to one of
the 5 blade sizes. When working with cork, cut a hole to match or slightly
larger as cork does not stretch.
Blade Attachment:
Use the provided hex key to loosen each set screw. Slide the cutting blades
into the blade slot ensuring proper seating with notches facing outward. Align
the blades straight and tighten the set screw to secure each blade.
Guide Sleeve Check:
Ensure the 6mm guide sleeve fits the inner diameter of the gripor cork/EVA
ring properly. Arbor the sleeve if needed for a straight cut, using masking
tape for support. Allow enough room for free sliding as the tool cuts into the
grip.|
Notes: Interchangeable blades are sharp, handle with care during
installation, operation, and storage. Blade rotation is fast, keep hands away,
and consider wearing safety glasses.

INSTALLATION
- Once you unbox your inletting tool, measure the size of the inlet hole you wish to cut. If you are cutting a hole to fit a fly reel seat, measure the fly seat hood’s outside diameter and match that size to one of the 5 blade sizes. When working with cork be sure to cut a hole to match or slightly larger as cork does not stretch.
- To attach blades, use the provided hex key to loosen each set screw. Slide the cutting blades into the blade slot and be sure they are properly seated. The notches in the blades should be facing out. The blades should be set straight in the blade slots. Once each blade is properly seated, tighten the set screw to secure each blade.
- Once your blades are set, check to be sure your 6mm guide sleeve will properly fit the inner diameter of your grip or cork/EVA ring. If the inner diameter is larger than .250” you will need to arbor the 6mm guide sleeve to be sure of a straight and consistent cut. We recommend using masking tape to arbor the sleeve. Allow enough room for the sleeve to slide freely, as the inlet tool cuts into the grip.
- Now that your guide sleeve is set, you are ready to cut your inlet. Chuck your inlet tool into your drill with the long drive shaft and blades facing out. To begin cutting, insert the tip of the drive shaft into the guide sleeve and run the drill on high before the blades begin to touch the grip. Maintain speed and constant pressure as the inletting tool cuts into your grip. Cut a little at a time, taking care to measure your depth to assure the proper cut. In addition, backing the tool out as you cut will allow any debris to exit the inlet.
Notes:
- Use both blades in a matched set. Do not use two different-sized blades at once.
- Cutter should be turning at speed before making contact with the grip material for cleanest cut.
- Backing the tool out as you cut will allow any debris to exit the inlet
warning:
- Interchangeable blades are very sharp. Take special care when installing blades, when operating the inletting tool, and when putting the blades in the storage case.
- Please use extreme caution when operating this tool.
- Blades rotate at high speeds.
- Keep hands away.
- Safety glasses are recommended when operating this tool.
