INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the Tri-Walker from Aidapt.
Please examine your product for any visible damage before using/installing. If
you see any damage or suspect a fault, please do not use, but contact your
supplier
These instructions should be read carefully and left with the user of the product for future reference.
INTENDED USE
The Tri-Walker from Aidapt is a sturdy yet easy to manoeuvre design ideal for those who require extra support when walking. Only use bags supplied with or designed for this Tri-Walker.
Do not use or combine bags or baskets from other manufacturers.
In normal use, i.e. when both hands are placed on the handles of the Tri- Walker, please ensure it is fully opened and locked into position. Always keep both hands on the Tri-Walker, do not put full pressure on one side as this may cause tipping. When not in use, you can easily fold the Tri-Walker and store away until required. The Tri-Walker is designed for use inside and outside the home. Please ensure fingers are clear of the locking mechanism to reduce the risk of entrapment when closing the Tri-Walker.
FEATURES
- User friendly loop brakes lever with lock
- Soft plastic solid wheels
- Swivelling front wheel
- Height adjustment
- Ergonomic handgrips to reduce pressure
- Includes a bag
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
- Carefully insert the brake assembly (fig. 1, fig. 1(a)) within the frame. Ensure that head of the screw fits into the hexagonal hole on the inside of the tri-walker (see fig. 1(b))
- Ensure when brake assembly is inserted that both brakes are even in height and the Tri-Walker is sitting evenly on the ground.
- Insert locking hand wheel into the desired height adjustment hole. Turn clockwise to tighten (fig. 1 (c).
LOCKING MECHANISM
- Open out the tri-walker frame by pulling the grip handles outwards in opposite directions forming a ‘V’ shape (fig. 3a). Once this is
completed pull/push the central locking bracket so the plates are parallel by using the handle mounted in the centre.
Ensure the frame is locked before using it and never use a semi-closed position as this may lead to the frame collapsing.
2. To close your tri-wheeled walker stand behind the walker and pull the handle towards yourself to release the lock. Then apply pressure to the outside of the handgrips and the walker will fold. Please ensure fingers are clear of the locking mechanism to reduce the risk of entrapment when closing the Tri-Walker.
OPERATING THE BRAKES
- To stop, gently apply a gripping pressure to both brakes simultaneously (fig. 2), this will slow down and stop your Tri-Walker.
- The brakes on your Tri-Walker have a park option (fig. 3). To operate the park option, push downwards on both brakes simultaneously. You will feel the brake make a very slight click. Your brakes are now in the ‘lock’ position.
- To unlock, simply pull up the brake again, you will hear a slight click as the ‘park’ disengages (fig. 4).
FITTING THE CARRY BAG (SHOULD COME FITTED)
- The Tri-Walker bag should be fitted when the walker is set in the open position.
- Take the strap situated upon the upper side of the Tri-Walker bag, and wrap this around the diagonal bar of the frame (fig. 5) and push the stud fasteners together. Repeat on the opposite side.
- Take the strap on the side of the Tri-Walker bag and wrap this around the vertical bar of the frame (fig. 6) and again push the stud fasteners together.
ADJUSTMENT TO BRAKES
- Your brake system will require periodic adjustment. The brake adjustment is similar to bicycle brakes.
- Fig. 7 shows the brake handle in its default delivered position. Should the brakes need adjusting they can be tightened by unlocking nut A and then unscrewing (anti-clockwise) Nut B. When the brake arm (see Fig. 11) has a 3 mm clearance then Nut A should be retightened. An example of a user adjusted brake handle is show in Fig. 8.
- When adjusted the brakes should work in both normal braking and in parking mode. If needed then Nut B in Fig. 7/8 can be turned further anti-clockwise, which will tighten the brake cable more.
If the brake handles are fully adjusted and more tightening is required please refer to steps 4 and 5 of Brake Adjustment (see below)
4. (fig. 9) shows the brake handle in its default delivered position. Should
the brakes need adjusting they can be tightened by unlocking Nut A and then
unscrewing (anti-clockwise) Nut B. When the brake arm (see fig. 11) has a 3mm
clearance then Nut A should be retightened. An example of a user adjusted
brake handle is shown in (fig. 10).
5. When adjusted the brakes should work in both normal braking and in parking
mode. If needed then Nut B in (fig. 9 & fig. 10) can be turned a further anti-
clockwise, which will tighten the brake cable more.

-
Only use your Tri-Walker for the purpose for which it is intended, which is an aid to walking. It is intended that your Tri-Walker is only used on standard pavements, or at home and should not be used on rough terrain or pot holed surfaces. The use of your Tri-Walker on these surfaces can seriously compromise your safety.

Check that all wheels and the folding mechanism function correctly and that all wheels move freely. Pay particular attention to the front wheel, ensuring that it rotates freely and without obstruction.
-
Check the central locking bracket (see fig. 10), always ensure that this is securely in place before using.
Withdraw your Tri-Walker immediately if the central locking bracket will not locate or if any of the wheels become difficult to turn or wobble or if you suspect damage or any other fault. -
Monthly checks – check that the side locking levels are properly secure (fig. 1(d))
a) Check that no components are loose.
b) Check the brakes; ensure that the brakes are correctly adjusted.
Do not fit any parts or accessories to your Tri-Walker manufactured by any other company. To do so will annul your warranty and, may seriously compromise your safety.
- We suggest that you check your Tri-Walker visually every day. However, we recommend that you should have your Tri-Walker serviced every three months or less if used or issued to various users. Servicing should be carried out at an approved service station or directly by Aidapt.
