Safety information
Please read these instructions carefully before using the heat pump and keep them for future reference:
- Always keep the unit upright. If the unit has been tilted or put on its side, wait 24h before starting the heat pump.
- Put the unit on a flat, solid base.
- Do not drop the heat pump.
- The heat pump must always be installed outdoors.
- Check if the voltage indicated on the RCD of the heat pump corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the unit.
- Do not pull the mains plug with unnecessary force. Do not wrap the mains plug around the heat pump.
- Do not use the heat pump in combination with a transformer.
- If the heat pump is damaged during transportation, it must be replaced, please contact your service centre or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
- Always make sure the water connections of the heat pump are properly locked before you start using the machine.
- Never insert objects directly into the fan, as this will cause it to become blocked and damaged.
- The evaporator fins must not be damaged.
- This heat pump is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the heat pump by a person responsible for their safety.
- Children should always be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the heat pump.
- Disconnect the mains plug from the socket when the heat pump is not in use and before cleaning.
The heat pump will always perform very well, provided the following elements are present

Preparing the heat pump for use
Typical configuration & distance from the pool
The heat pump should be located at least 2m away from the swimming pool. In
normal operation, the air taken by the heat pump is cooled down and water may
condens on the fins of the evaporator and run out of the bottom of the
unit.
- A free area of minimum 0,3 meter around the heat pump has to be kept clear from any object
- Put the heat pump on a flat, solid base.
- Do not obstruct the fan, leave at least 1.5m free unobstructed space in front of the fan.
- All feeding of water treatment to the pool water has to be done downstream of the heat pump(
- It is normal for condensation to come out of the heat pump. This is not a leak or fault with the unit. If the humidity is very high, the condensation could be a number of liters a day
Hose connection
- It is normal for condensation water to come out of the heat pump when it is operating. This is not a fault or leak!
Electrical connection
Hot Splash Heat pump RCD. Available in EU-VERSION and UK-VERSION
Hot Splash Heat pump is available with inline RCD and plug version
- Make sure your outlet is earthed
- The pool circulation pump must operate with the heat pump. Therefore, connect them to the same circuit used for outdoor.
Electrical connection with timer
The pool circulation pump must operate with the heat pump. Therefore, connect
them to the same circuit used for outdoor.
The controller of the Hot Splash heat pump has a memory so that the settings
are retained even if the power is switched off and on. This makes it possible
to operate the heat pump with a timer. The timer must be installed between the
heat pump and the RCD plug, see picture. The installation must be carried out
by a certified electrical installer in order to guarantee quality and safe
operation.
Startup and settings
- Display blinks indicating the controller is locked. Press the ON/OFF button 3 seconds to unlock the controller.
- After three minutes of no interaction, the display will return to the locked status
Guidelines
Cold/harsh weather conditions
Your heat pump is designed to operate in rainy weather conditions and
withstand frost using a specially created Nofrost technology. However it is
not recommended to leave it outside for long periods of time (eg over winter).
After draining down the pool for the winter, store the heat pump in a dry
place
Restarting the heat pump after long term storage
If your heat pump has been stored for a long time, perform the following steps
when re-starting the system:
- Inspect the system for any debris or damage to the case.
- Clean the evaporator fins with a soft cloth if necessary. Make sure the evaporator fins are clean. Blocking the air intake will cause insufficient operation and will result in lower production of heat.
- Check the fan for blockages.
- Connect the water inlet and outlet.
- Turn on the pool water circulation pump to start the water flow to the heat pump.
- Restore electrical power to the heat pump and press the recer button on the RCD.
Maintenance and error messages
- Check the water supply to and from the unit often. Low water flow or air entering into the pipes should be avoided, as this will diminish the heat pump performance and reliability. You should clean the swimming pool water regularly to avoid damage to the heat pump as a result of dirty pool water. Please check the information about warranty in section 9.
- The area around the heat pump should be clear and well ventilated. Clean the evaporator and evaporator guard regularly to maintain good air flow and efficiency.
- Check the power supply and cable connection often. In case of abnormal operation or a smell of burning near the electrical compartment, switch off the heat pump and contact your dealer.
- You should discharge the water at the bottom of the heat pump if the unit doesn’t work for an extended period of time.
The heat pump will show an error message in case of a problem. The following messages can occur
Alarm | Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
TCO | It’s too cold outside (Appears at start up: Ambient air temperature is |
below 10°C. Appears when Heat pump was already running: internal heat pump
temperature is below 3°C; In any situation is the ambient temperature is too
cold).| The heat pump will start automatically when the ambient air
temperature rises above 10°C.
AL1| One of the heat pump sensors is damaged.| The heat pump does not restart
automatically. Turn the heat pump OFF and ON. Check whether AL1 keeps coming
back. If the alarm remains on the display please contact your service
centre or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
AL2| The pressure of the compressor is too high.| The heat pump does not restart automatically. Turn the heat pump OFF and ON. Check whether AL2 keeps coming back. If the alarm remains on the display please contact your service
centre or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
- When TCO, AL1 or AL2 occur you can check the current water temperature by pushing the up arrow. By pushing the down arrow you can check the current air temperature inside the heat pump.
Environment
This heat pump should not be put into the domestic waste at the end of its
useful life, but must be disposed at a central point for recycling of
electrical and electronic domestic applications. By doing this you will help
to preserve the environment.
