INSTALLATION
PREPARE FOR THE INSTALLATION: If you have an outlet to the outside, your cooker hood can be connected as per the below picture by means of an extraction duct with an interior diameterof150mm. ****
**** Before installation, turn the unit off and unplug it from
the outlet.
Earthed Outlet
The cooker hood should be placed at a minimum distance of 65-76cm above the
hob. It is the manufacturer of the hob who determines the clearance required
and the clearance quoted by the hob manufacturer must be followed. In the
absence of any instructions supplied with a gas
hob the minimum distance between the hob and the hood must be at least 760mm.
INSTALLATION – DUCTED
WARNING:
1. Position the hanging plate on the ceiling and then mark the position of
the screw holes. The hanging plate should be securely fixed to the ceiling.
11 x ST6 (40mm) screws for wooden ceiling.
8 x expansion bolts for cement ceiling.
2. Fix the angle bars to the hanging plate, using the 8 x M5 screws.
3.Extend the angle bars to the required height and then fix them in position
using the 16 x M5 screws and nut switch metal washers.
IMPORTANT:
The angle bars must have an overlap of at least 100mm.
- If your cooker hood is going to be externally ventilated, then connect the ducting hose to the ceiling adaptor at this point. Fix the upper chimney section to the hanging plate, using the 4 x self tapping screws.
Slide the lower chimney section onto the angle bars and raise it until it sits just below the upper chimney section.
5. Lift the main body of the cooker hood onto the angle bars and then fix it
into position using the 16 x M5 screws.
IMPORTANT: This stage of the installation process MUST be completed by two
people. The 16 x M5 screws MUST be securely tightened.
6. If you are using the hood in ducted / ventilation mode, you should fix the ducting hose to the ceiling.
The electrical connection must correspond to the electrical requirement noted on the rating plate, which is placed inside the cooker hood. The appliance should now be connected to the electrical supply.
Check that the appliance is operating correctly by selecting each speed and switching the light bulbs on and off.
Remove the hanging hook and then slide the lower chimney section downwards, until it rests against the main body of the cooker hood.
Use a stainless steel cleaner and polish on the stainless steel sections of the appliance.
If you are using the appliance in recirculation mode, then you should now fit the charcoal filter. See the “installing the charcoal filter” section on page 14.
Fix the one-way-valve to the air outlet of the cooker hood. Then, attach the exhaust pipe onto the one-way-valve as shown below.
Please keep this instruction manual for future reference Instruction manual Zi922 13
RECIRCULATION MODE
If you do not have an outlet to the outside, the exhaust pipe is not required
(as shown in the
section “Installation – ducted”), and charcoal filters must be installed.
INSTALLING THE CHARCOAL FILTER (CAP61CF)
An activated charcoal filter can be used to trap odours. In order to install
the charcoal filter, the grease filter should be detached first. Press the
release button and pull it downward as shown below.
Fit the activated charcoal filter onto the side of the motor and turn it in a clockwise direction to lock into place. Repeat the same on the other side.
NOTE:
Make sure the filter is securely locked. Otherwise,
it may loosen and be dangerous.
When using a charcoal filter, the extraction power
may be slightly reduced.
We recommend replacing these filters every 6 months. Replacement filters
(CAP61CF)
can be purchased directly from www.caple.co.uk
OPERATION
ON/OFF BUTTON
Press and hold for 2-3 seconds to turn the extractor fan on. You can then
change the speeds as per below. Press again to switch off.
LOW SPEED BUTTON
Is suitable for simmering and cooking which does not produce much steam or
odour.
MEDIUM SPEED BUTTON
Airflow speed is ideal for extracting with standard cooking.
HIGH SPEED BUTTON
When a high amount of steam or odours are produced, use the high speed setting
for the most effective extraction.
LIGHT BUTTON

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
IMPORTANT: Before cleaning or maintenance please switch off the electricity supply and remove the plug from the wall.
REGULAR CLEANING
Use a soft damp cloth with lukewarm mildly soapy water or household cleaning detergent. Never use metal pads, chemicals, abrasive material, abrasive cleaning creams or stiff brushes to clean the appliance.
CLEANING THE GREASE FILTER
Clean the filter every month to help minimize the risk of fire. The filter collects grease, smoke and dust, therefore the filter is directly affecting the efficiency of the cooker hood. If not cleaned, the grease residue (which is potentially flammable) will saturate the filter. It can be easily cleaned with warm water and washing up liquid, alternatively the filters can be cleaned in your dishwasher. Please ensure no other items are washed with the filters, they must be washed separately to prevent food becoming trapped in the gauze. Cleaning the grease filters in the dishwasher may lead to discoloration, this is normal and is a not a fault with the product.
REPLACING YOUR CHARCOAL FILTER
This only applies if you are using the hood in recirculation mode (not vented
to the outside). The charcoal filter traps your cooking odours and they need
to be replaced, this can vary depending on how frequently the cooker hood is
used. We recommend replacing them at least every 6 months. This extractor uses
CAP61CF charcoal filters. Filters can be purchased directly from
www.caple.co.uk.
