18. Power Sources – This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label.     When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged,
    If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the product,

    If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions as an improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to its normal operation.

POWER SOURCE (AC ADAPTOR ONLY)

The JCR-212 is powered by an external 120V AC adaptor with an output of AC ~ 5V / 400mA.
The unit is also equipped with a battery back-up system for the clock that is powered by 1 x CR2025 lithium battery (not included).
POWER CONNECTION

1. Plug the cord of the power adaptor into the AC IN JACK (#17) located on the back of the JCR-212.
2. Plug the power adaptor into a household wall socket. The unit is powered up and in standby mode when you see the display turn on and begin flashing.

Battery Back-up system

•  This radio is equipped with a battery back-up system located on the back of the unit that requires 1 x CR2025 lithium battery (not included).
•  Remove the screw that holds the battery compartment cover in place, and then remove the BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER (#15). Insert a CR2025 battery (not included) into the battery compartment and make sure the positive and negative (+ or -) sides of the batteries are in contact with the corresponding terminals in the battery compartment. The battery should be inserted under the 2 positive contact plates as shown on the right. Replace the BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER (#15) and replace the screw.
•  If a power outage occurs the display will turn off and the back-up battery will automatically retain the clock and alarm settings.
• When replacing the battery, do not disconnect the power adaptor otherwise all clock and alarm settings will be lost.

Note:
The unit will still operate without the back-up battery installed, but the time and alarm settings will be lost and have to be reset in the event of a power interruption or failure.

BATTERY WARNING
DO NOT INGEST BATTERY, CHEMICAL BURN HAZARD
This product contains a coin/button cell battery. If the coin/button cell battery is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death. Keep new and used batteries away from children. If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children. If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.

STANDBY MODE
Standby Mode is when the unit is first plugged into an AC power source (display flashing) or after all the settings has been made and the time is showing on the display. Standby mode is also enabled when the Radio is off, no buttons are pressed and no alarms are sounding.

SETTING THE DATE AND TIME

The LED DISPLAY (#10) will be flashing when the unit is plugged in for the first time. The unit is now in standby mode.
Note: The JCR-212 has a Date and Time feature, so you will be setting the Year, Month and Date followed by setting the time.
Setting the Date and Time:

1.  In standby mode, press and hold the MEMORY/SET BUTTON (#1) until the hour digits of the clock display begin to flash.

2. Repeatedly tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to set the hour. Press and hold the button for fast reverse/advance setting. Make sure the correct AM or PM time is selected when setting the hour.
   Note: The PM INDICATOR (#8) is located in the upper left part of the display. The PM INDICATOR (#8) will light when the hour digits selected are for PM time. The PM INDICATOR (#8) will be off when the hour digits selected are for AM time.

3.  Tap the MEMORY/SET BUTTON (#1) to confirm the hour setting, the minute digits will flash to prompt for input.

4.  Repeatedly tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to set the minute. Press and hold the button for fast reverse/advance setting.

5.  Tap the MEMORY/SET BUTTON (#1) to confirm. 12H will light on the display.

6. Repeatedly tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to select the 12 or 24 hour clock.

7. Tap the MEMORY/SET BUTTON (#1) to confirm. The year digits 20XX will flash to prompt for input.

8. Repeatedly tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to set the year. Press and hold the button for fast reverse/advance setting.

9. Tap the MEMORY/SET BUTTON (#1) to confirm. The month digits XX will flash to prompt for input.

10. Repeatedly tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to set the month. Press and hold the button for fast reverse/advance setting.

11. Tap the MEMORY/SET BUTTON (#1) to confirm. The date digits d XX will flash to prompt for input.

12. Repeatedly tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to set the date. Press and hold the button for fast reverse/advance setting.

13. Tap the MEMORY/SET BUTTON (#1) to confirm and complete the setting.

14. The time will light on the display and stop flashing.
    Notes:
    The unit will automatically save the settings and exit the time set mode if you do not press any buttons within 10 seconds.
    In standby mode,
    Tap the MEMORY/SET BUTTON (#1) to review the Weekday.
    ( d1 = Monday, d2 = Tuesday, d3 = Wednesday, d4 = Thursday, d5 = Friday,
    d6 = Saturday and d7 = Sunday ).
    Tap the BUTTON (#2) to review the month and date. (12 08 = December 8)
    Tap the BUTTON (#3) to review the year.

ALARM OPERATION

The JCR-212 features a dual alarm clock. Setting the alarms:

1. In standby mode, press and hold the POWER BUTTON (#7), the ALARM 1 INDICATOR (#11) and the hour of the alarm time will flash.

2. Tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to set the hour. Press and hold the button for fast reverse/advance setting. Make sure the correct AM or PM time is selected when setting the hour.
   Note: The PM INDICATOR (#8) is located in the upper left part of the display.
   The PM INDICATOR (#8) will light when the hour digits selected are for PM time.
   The PM INDICATOR (#8) will be off when the hour digits selected are for AM time.

3.  Tap the POWER BUTTON (#7) to confirm the hour setting, the minute digits will flash to prompt for input.

4.  Tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to set the minute. Press and hold the button for fast reverse/advance setting.

5.  Tap the POWER BUTTON (#7) to confirm the minute setting. The alarm frequency will flash to prompt for input.

6.  Tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to select the alarm frequency. ( 1 – 7 = Daily, X = selected day of a week, 1 – 5 = Monday to Friday. 6 – 7 = Saturday and Sunday)

7. Tap the POWER BUTTON (#7) to confirm the alarm frequency.

8.  The ALARM 2 INDICATOR (#12) and the hour of the alarm time will now flash to prompt for input.

9.  Repeat step 2 through step 7 to set ALARM 2.

10. The unit will return to standby mode once the alarm setting process is completed.
    Note: The unit will automatically save the settings and return to Standby mode if you do not tap any button within 10 seconds.
    Setting the “wake to” alarm source:
    ALARM 1: In Standby mode, repeatedly tap the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#5) to select the ALARM 1 source. The ALARM 1 INDICATOR (#11) will flash and the display will show one of the following options as you repeatedly tap the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#5). bb – Beeping alarm will wake you. FM Station (example: 95.5) – the last FM radio station you listened to will wake you. AM Station (example:

720. – the last AM radio station you listened to will wake you. OFF – Turns OFF ALARM 1 and the ALARM 1 INDICATOR (#11) will turn OFF.
     Alarm 2 source or Offsetting is the same as above but tap the ALARM 2 BUTTON (#6).
     Note: The unit will automatically save the settings and return to Standby mode if you do not tap any button within 5 seconds. Waking to Alarm – Turning the “wake to” Alarm ON:

• A beeping Alarm will automatically turn on when the alarm time is reached. The corresponding ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 INDICATOR (#11 or #12) will flash.
• Press the SNOOZE BUTTON (#4) to temporarily turn off the alarm, or press the POWER BUTTON (#7) to turn the alarm off.
• If no buttons are pressed when the alarm is sounding, it will continue sounding for 60 minutes and then turn off automatically.

Wake to AM/FM Radio – Turning the “wake to” Radio ON:

•  The Radio will automatically turn on when the alarm time is reached. The corresponding ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 INDICATOR (#11 or #12) will flash.
•  The unit will start playing the last AM or FM radio station you listened to when the wake time is reached, so make sure the station is set to the one you want to wake up to.
•  The volume level will start out low and gradually increase to maximum volume.
•  Press the SNOOZE BUTTON (#4) to temporarily turn off the radio, or press the POWER BUTTON (#7) to turn the radio off.
•  If no buttons are pressed when the radio is playing, it will continue playing for 60 minutes and then turn off automatically.

Review the Alarm time setting:
In standby mode, press and hold the POWER BUTTON (#7) to enter alarm set mode. Repeatedly tap the POWER BUTTON (#7) to review the alarm 1 & alarm 2 setting in sequence (AL1 hour – AL1 minutes – AL1 frequency – AL2 hour – AL2 minutes – AL2 frequency – Standby Mode).

Note: The unit will automatically return to standby mode if no buttons are pressed within 5 seconds. Turning the alarms ON or OFF In standby mode, repeatedly tap the ALARM 1 / ALARM 2 BUTTONS (#5 / #6) to select wake up sources or off to enable or disable the respective alarm. The corresponding ALARM 1 INDICATOR (#11) or ALARM 2 INDICATOR (#12) will light when the alarm is enabled.
Notes:

•  For setting a one-day alarm, set the desired alarm time the day before following the “Setting the alarms” section above.
• The alarm will sound the next day at the set alarm time.
•  After turning off the alarm, follow the “Turning the alarms ON or OFF” section above to select Alarm Off to prevent the alarm from sounding again the next day.

SNOOZE FUNCTION

When the alarm sounds, tap the SNOOZE BUTTON (#4) to temporarily turn off the alarm and activate the snooze function. The alarm will stop and turn on again 9 minutes later. This can be repeated within a hour.
Notes:

• The corresponding ALARM 1 INDICATOR (#11) or ALARM 2  INDICATOR  (#12) will flash during the snooze period.
• To cancel the snooze period and the alarm, press the POWER

RADIO OPERATION

Listening to the radio:
1. Tap the POWER BUTTON (#7) to turn the unit on.
2. Tap the POWER BUTTON (#7) repeatedly to select AM or FM band.
3. The AM or FM frequency will show on the LED DISPLAY (#10).
4. Manual Tuning: Repeatedly tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to manually adjust the frequency.
5. Automatic Tuning: Press and hold the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to automatically tune to the previous or next available station.
6. Tap the VOL – BUTTON (#5) or VOL + BUTTON (#6) to obtain the desired volume level.
7. Press and hold the POWER BUTTON (#7) to turn the radio off.

Notes:

•  Use Manual Tuning to select weaker stations that might be skipped during Automatic Tuning.
• If the Automatic Tuning does not stop on the exact frequency of the station, for example, it stops on 88.9 MHz instead of 88.8 MHz, use the manual tuning method to “fine tune” to the exact frequency of the desired station.
•  When in radio mode, the display will automatically switch back to show the time after a few seconds.
•  When listening to the radio, you can check the frequency of the station you are listening by tapping the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) once. The unit will automatically switch back to show the time after a few seconds.

TIPS FOR BEST RADIO RECEPTION
AM – The AM antenna is built inside the radio. If AM reception is weak, change the position of the unit until the internal antenna picks up the strongest signal. FM – If FM reception is weak, fully extend the FM ANTENNA (#14) and vary the position and location of the antenna until you find the strongest signal. To set / recall the radio presets: The unit allows you to store up to 20 FM stations and 20 AM stations for easy recall at any time.

1.  Tap the POWER BUTTON (#7) to turn the unit on.
2. Tap the POWER BUTTON (#7) repeatedly to select FM or AM band.
3.  Tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to select the desired station.
4.  Press and hold the MEMORY/SET BUTTON (#1) until “PXX” flash on the LED DISPLAY (#10).
5.  Tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) to select a preset number (P01- P20).
6.  Tap the MEMORY/SET BUTTON (#1) again to confirm the preset.
7.  Repeat steps 3 through 6 to preset up to 20 stations.
8.  To recall one of the preset stations already programmed, tap the MEMORY/SET BUTTON (#1). The preset number will show on the LED display (#10).
9.  Tap the BUTTON (#2) or BUTTON (#3) repeatedly until you reach the desired preset

SLEEP OPERATION

The SLEEP TIMER feature allows you to turn off the radio automatically after a designated time has elapsed.

1.  Tap the POWER BUTTON (#7) to turn the unit on.
2. Press and hold the SLEEP BUTTON (#4) to enter sleep mode.
3.  The SLEEP timer will show on the LED DISPLAY (#10). Tap the SLEEP BUTTON (#4) repeatedly to select the sleep timer 120 – 90 – 60 – 45 – 30 – 15 – 05 – OFF (in minutes). The unit will play for the selected length of time and SLEEP INDICATOR (#9) will turn on, then turn off automatically.
4.  To cancel the sleep timer, repeatedly tap the SLEEP BUTTON (#4) until the SLEEP INDICATOR (#9) turn off.
5.  To turn the unit “Off” before the selected length of time, press and hold the POWER BUTTON (#7) at any time.

DIMMER OPERATION

Tap the DIMMER BUTTON (#4) repeatedly to select the brightness settings of the LED DISPLAY (#10) (High, Low or Off).

PLACEMENT FOR THE JCR-212

BUILT-IN STAND Unclip the FOLDABLE STAND (#16) from the back of the unit and pull it outward. Place the unit on a flat surface like a countertop or desk.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

•  Clean the radio with a soft damp cloth and let all parts dry completely after cleaning.
• Do not use any aggressive cleaners, brushes with nylon bristles, sharp or metallic cleaning utensils, knives, hard scrapers and the like. They could damage the surfaces of the radio.
•  Do not immerse the radio in water and do not let water get into the housing of the radio.
•  Unplug the power adaptor and clean the radio before storage.
•  Always store the radio in a dry and clean place.
