Intended use

The intended use of the Quick Clean microwave bag is to disinfect breast pump accessories, bottles, teats, pacifiers and cups, by means of the steam treatment. You can use the bag up to 20 times.

Important safety information

  • The Quick Clean microwave bag is intended for use only with microwave-safe plastics.
  • Do not use the bag to clean the piston or cylinder parts of the Lactina or Base breast pump.
  • Do not place the bag in a conventional oven or oven grill.
  • Do not place the bag on a metallic grill that comes with some microwave ovens.
  • Follow the instructions for use of your microwave oven.

Cleaning and hygiene

  • Clean parts immediately after use to avoid the drying up of milk residues and to prevent the growth of bacteria.
  • Use drinking-quality water for any of the following cleaning procedures.
  • Follow these cleaning instructions.
    Note: Steam treatment may cause discoloration of the cleaned parts. This will not affect performance.

How to use

  • Disassemble the items that you wish to disinfect into their individual parts.

  • Thoroughly rinse all parts with cold, clear water (approx. 20°C), then clean them with warm, soapy water (approx. 30°C). Rinse again with cold, clear water (see Figure 1).

  • Add 60ml of water to the bag (see Figure 2). Do not use less than 60ml of water. Using less water may shrink the parts.

  • Put the parts to be disinfected into the bag (Figure 3).medela 151576776 Quick Clean Microwave Bags Fig1

  • Do not overload the bag.

  • Do not disinfect the tubing in the microwave bag as this may lead to it becoming deformed.
    One bag can hold (some examples):

  • One breast shield/connector/valve-membrane assembly, as well as a bottle with cap or teat;

  • Two breast shield/connector/valve-membrane assemblies;

  • Two 150 ml breast milk bottles and caps/teats;

  • Two 250 ml breast milk bottles and caps/teats.

  • Seal the bag tightly (Figure 4).

  • Put the tightly sealed bag into the microwave. Place the bag in the center of the turntable (Figure 5a). medela 151576776 Quick Clean Microwave Bags Fig2

Make sure the bag stands up securely and can turn freely in the microwave.

Note: I f your microwave does not have a turntable, turn the bag halfway through the heating process. I Heat the bag according to the heating times below.

Heating times:

  • 1100W+ = 1.5 minutes
  • 800–1100W = 3 minutes
  • 500–750W = 5 minutes

Heating for longer than the recommended time may shrink the parts.

  • Carefully remove the warm bag from the microwave (Figure 5b).

  • Use oven mitts or hot pads, as hot water and steam may collect inside the oven.

  • First, remove the hot water from the bag by pouring it out through the pouring spout (Figure 6). Then carefully open the bag.
    Take care when you remove the bag from the microwave or open the bag. Hot water or steam may escape (danger of burning).

  • Carefully remove all parts from the bag. Dry each part with a clean towel (Figure 7). Put the parts that you will not immediately use after cleaning into a clean zip lock bag or store them in a container with a lid. Alternatively, wrap the parts in clean paper or a clean cloth.

  • You can use the bag a maximum of 20 times. To keep track of the number of times you used the bag, numbered boxes are printed on the bag (Figure 8). Check a box after each use.

    • Material: Polypropylene (PP).
    • Disposal: According to local regulations.
