Please read all of the instructions carefully and retain for future reference.

Safety Instructions

  • When using electrical appliances, basic safely precautions should always be followed.
  • Check that the voltage indicated on the rating plate corresponds with that of the local network before connecting the appliance to the mains power supply.
  • Children aged from 8 years and people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge can use this appliance, only if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Unless they are older than 8 and supervised, children should not perform cleaning or user maintenance.
  • This appliance is not a toy.
  • This appliance contains no user serviceable parts. If the supply cord, plug or any part of the appliance is malfunctioning, or if it has been dropped or damaged, only a qualified electrician should carry out repairs. Improper repairs may place the user at risk of harm.
  • Keep the appliance and its power supply cord out of the reach of children.
  • Do not immerse the electrical components of this appliance in water or any other liquid.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended whilst connected to the mains power supply.
  • Do not use any power supply base unit other than the one provided with this appliance.
  • Do not fill the appliance above its max. fill mark. Overfilling the appliance may cause boiling water to be ejected.
  • Use of an extension cord with the appliance is not recommended.

This appliance is intended for domestic use only. It should not be used for commercial purposes.
Exercise caution when using this appliance, as steam will be emitted from the spout and/or lid, especially whilst refilling.

Caution: Hot surface – do not touch the hot section or  heating components of the appliance.

Warning: Boiling water and steam can cause serious injury; exercise extreme caution when using this appliance. Do not open the lid while the kettle is boiling.

The appliance will become very hot during use; do not touch the appliance and always take core when handling.
Misuse of the appliance could cause injury to the user.
The body of this kettle is mode from glass, core should be taken not to knock the kettle when handling. If the glass body becomes cracked or chipped, discontinue use immediately.

Caution: Always allow the appliance to cool thoroughly before touching or opening the flip-top lid.

Boil-dry Sensor
If the kettle is accidentally turned on whilst empty, the boil-dry sensor will activate causing the power to switch off. Do not try to use the kettle during this time; once it has cooled down, it will resume its normal function.

Care and Maintenance

  • Before attempting any cleaning or maintenance, unplug the kettle from the mains power supply and allow it to cool fully. Wipe the kettle and power base with o soft, damp cloth then allow it to dry thoroughly.
  • Do not immerse the kettle in water or any other liquid.
  • Never use harsh or abrasive cleaning detergents or scourers to clean the kettle as this could cause damage.
  • If there is any solid residue on the inside of the kettle, carefully remove this with a damp cloth or brush.

Removing Limescale

If the kettle switches off before it has boiled or a white deposit is noticed on the inside of the kettle, it needs to be descaled. Add a commercial descaling agent to the kettle, adhering to the manufacturer’s instructions. It is not recommended to use vinegar to descale the kettle.

Before First Use

Before using the kettle for the first time, wipe it clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
Do not immerse the kettle in water or any other liquid.
Fill the kettle to the Max. fill mark and boil the water, following the instructions in the section entitled ‘Using the Iridescent Glass Kettle’. After the water has boiled, pour it away. If any slight taste or odour remains in the boiled water, repeat this process.

Note: When using the kettle for the first time, a slight odour may be emitted. This is normal and will soon subside. Allow for sufficient ventilation around the kettle.

The kettle will remain illuminated blue as long as it is plugged in and the kettle is resting on the base.
Warning: The kettle or any accessories are not suitable for dishwasher use.

Removing the ‘New Kettle’ Taste
Fill the kettle to the max. fill mark and boil the water, following the instructions in the section entitled ‘Using the Kettle1 If any slight ‘new kettle’ taste or odour remains in the boiled water, discard this and refill the kettle to three-quarters full. Once boiled, odd two tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda and leave to stand overnight. Discard the water then re- boil a couple of times to remove any residue.

Instructions for Use

Using the Iridescent Glass Kettle

STEP 1: Position the power base onto a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface at a height that is comfortable for the user.
STEP 2: Press the lid release button to open the flip-top lid and fill the kettle to the desired water level. The water level must be between the min. fill mark and the max. fill mark on the water fill gauge.
STEP 3: Close the flip-lop lid until ii dicks securely shut and place the kettle back onto the power base.
STEP 4: Plug in and switch on the kettle at the mains power supply, then push the power switch lo the ‘on’ position until it dicks. The power switch will automatically flip back into the ‘off’ position when the kettle hos boiled.
STEP 5: Once the water has stopped boiling vigorously, lift the kettle by the handle and pour out the desired amount of water. Do not pour the water too quickly as this may cause it to trickle down the side of the kettle.

Note: The Blue/Red LED ring will illuminate blue as soon as the kettle is connected to the mains power supply.
The Blue/Red LED ring will illuminate red when the power switch is set to the ‘on’ position.

Caution:

  • Allow the kettle to cool thoroughly before touching or opening the flip-top lid.
  • Do not use the kettle if the base or any of the electrical connectors are wet. Do not attempt to dry these whilst the kettle is plugged in.
  • If the power switch will not stay clicked into the ‘on’ position, do not force it to stay down. This may cause excess steam to escape from the flip-top lid, damage to the automatic shut-off mechanism or injury to the user.
  • The body and flip-top lid of the kettle get very hot during use. Do not touch any part of the kettle except the handle whilst it is in use or filled with hot water.
  • To avoid spilling water or user injury, wait for vigorous boiling to subside before lifting the kettle or pouring water.

Warning: The flip-top lid may spray water if opened after boiling – allow the kettle to cool before opening the flip-top lid.

Storage
The kettle must be cool, clean and dry before storing in a cool, dry place.
Never wrap the cord tightly around the kettle; wrap it loosely to avoid causing damage.

Connection to the Mains

Important

As the colours in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, please proceed as follows:
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
Blue Neutral (N)
Brown Live (L)
Green/Yellow Earth

FOR UK USE ONLY – Plug fitting details Neutral wire (where applicable).

The wire coloured BLUE is the NEUTRAL and must be connected to the terminal marked N or coloured BLACK.
The wire coloured BROWN is the LIVE wire and must be connected to the terminal marked L or coloured RED.
The wire coloured GREEN/YELLOW must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter E or marked
On no account must either the BROWN or the BLUE wire be connected to the

EARTH terminal (
Always ensure that the cord grip is fastened correctly.
The plug must be fitted with a fuse of the same rating already fitted and conforming to BS 1362 and be ASTA approved.
If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician who will be pleased to do this for you.

Non-Rewireable Mains Plug
If your appliance is supplied with a non-rewireable plug fitted to the mains lead and should the fuse need replacing, you must use one that is ASTA approved (conforming to BS 1362 of the same rating).

If you need to remove the plug, DISCONNECT IT FROM THE MAINS, then cut it off the mains lead and immediately dispose of it safely. Never attempt to reuse the plug or insert it into a sack.et outlet as there is a danger of an electric shock.
