Intended use

This radio controlled switch set consists of a remote-controlled switch for outdoor use and a handheld transmitter. By using the handheld transmitter, a consumer load connected to the remote controlled out-door switch can be turned on or off. The handheld transmitter is solely intended for use in dry indoor spac-es. The remote controlled wireless outdoor switch is suitable for use outdoors (IP44). For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or mo-dify this product. If you use the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use can cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc. Read the instructions carefully and keep them. Make this product available to third parties only together with its operating instructions. This product complies with the statutory national and European requi-rements. Safety instructions

Read the operating instructions carefully and espe-cially observe the safety information. If you do not fol-low the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.

General

• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing material for children.
• Do not use this product in hospitals or medical institutions. Although the product emits only relatively weak radio signals, these may lead to the malfunction of life-support systems. The same may also be the case in other areas.
• Keep the product away from strong magnetic fields occurring near machines, electric motors or loudspeakers.
• The remote controlled, outdoor switch is designed in accordance with protection class I. Only a standard mains socket (230 V/AC, 50 Hz with protective earth) for the public supply grid may be used as the power source for the outdoor switch.
• The handheld transmitter is powered by a 12 V battery (type “23 A”).
• The product is equipped with enhanced protection against accidental contact. An integrated mechanism will release the holes of the receptacle only, if the two prongs of a power plug are inserted into the two holes at once.
• Take special caution when children are around. Children cannot recognize the danger arising from the incorrect use of electrical de-vices. There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
• The handheld transmitter is only intended for use in dry indoor spac-es. The remote-controlled wireless outdoor switch is suitable for use outdoors (IP44).
• The power socket in which the switch socket is plugged must be easily accessible.
• Never touch the remote-controlled outdoor switch, or the mains plug, with wet or damp hands while trying to connect a plug to the front socket. There is a risk of a lethal electric shock!
• Never remove a mains plug from the front of the remote-controlled outdoor switch by pulling on the power cable. Always pull the plug from the socket in the wireless outdoor switch, by using the gripping surface provided on the side.
• Don’t connect adaptor plugs in series!
• The device is only voltage-free when its plug is pulled out of the mains socket.
• Do not overload the radio-controlled outdoor switch (take note of the input power in the technical data at the end of the operating instructions!).
• Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the device.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an expert or at a qualified shop.
• If you have questions that remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.

Batteries

• Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the battery.
• The battery should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long period of time to avoid damage through leaking. Leaking or damaged batteries might cause acid burns when in contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves to handle corrupted batteries.
• Batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave batte-ries lying around, as there is risk, that children or pets swallow them.
• Batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into fire. Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion!

Operating elements

1. Keypad for switching channels 1 to 4 (left column “ON” = on, right column “OFF” = off).
2. Selector switch for switching group A total of 16 radio receivers (e.g. remote controlled outdoor switches can be programmed). The 16 radio receivers are categorised into 4 switching groups; switching groups: 1-4, 5-8, 9-12 as well as switching group 13-16.
3. “ALL-ON” button Pressing this button activates all receivers in the currently selected switching group.
4. “ALL-OFF” button Pressing this button deactivates all receivers in the currently selected switching group.
5. Control LED (lights up when the buttons are used).
6. Front socket for connecting a consumer load.
7. “ON/OFF/INDICATOR” button/LED Using this button, the remote-controlled outdoor switch can be activated or deactivated manually. This button also serves as the programming button.

Inserting/replacing the batteries Open the battery compartment on the back of the handheld transmitter and insert a 12 V battery (type “23 A”) with the correct polarity (pay attention to the diagram in the battery compartment). Close the battery compartment again. The batteries need to be replaced if the range of the handheld transmitter is significantly reduced or the control LED (5) no longer lights when the buttons are used.

Programming the outdoor switch to a handheld transmitter

• Set the switching group on the handheld transmitter, i.e. the one to which the outdoor switch is to be programmed, using the “Selector switch for switching group” (2).
  A total of 4 receivers can be programmed for each switching group.

• Plug the remote-controlled outdoor switch into a standard 230 V/AC, 50 Hz household socket. The LED “ON/OFF/INDICATOR” (7) starts to blink.

• Before the LED stops blinking, press the ON button for the desired switching channel (1), to which the remote-controlled outdoor switch is to be programmed. The LED lights up. The programming has been completed successfully.

Programming the outdoor switch to several hand-held transmitters  You can program up to 10 remote-controlled transmitters for this remote-controlled outdoor switch.

• Set the switching group on the handheld transmitter, i.e. the one to which the outdoor switch is to be programmed, using the “Selector switch for switching group” (2).
  A total of 4 receivers can be programmed for each switching group.

• Plug the remote-controlled outdoor switch into an IP44 mains socket and press the button “ON/OFF/INDICATOR” (7) until the LED starts blinking red.

• Before the LED stops blinking, press the ON button for the desired switching channel (1), to which the remote-controlled outdoor switch is to be programmed. The LED lights up. The programming has been completed successfully.
  Deleting programmed outdoor switches from the handheld transmitter

• Press the ON and OFF buttons simultaneously, for the switching channel to which the remote-controlled outdoor switch is programmed. The LED (7) starts blinking.

• Now, press the “ALL-ON” (3) button and the “ALL-OFF” (4) button simultaneously. The LED (7) will go out. All remote-controlled outdoor switches have been successfully deleted from the handheld transmitter.
  To delete one single receiver, press the corresponding OFF button for the switching channel, to which the receiver was programmed, instead of pressing the “ALL-ON” (3) and “ALL-OFF” (4) buttons.

The Handheld Transmitter’s Dimmer Function

• Turn the dimmer on, by briefly pressing the ON button for the corresponding switching channel.
• Press and hold down the ON key for the corresponding switching channel. The dimmer function is activated.
• Press the ON key for the corresponding switching channel again. The dimmer function is deactivated.
• This function is only available for radio receivers with integrated dimmer.

Start-up, Function Test

• Set the correct switching group on the handheld transmitter, using the “Selector switch for switching group” (2).

• Plug the remote-controlled socket (without the consumer load connected!) into the designated earthed mains socket.
  You can now test the function of the remote-controlled outdoor switch, by briefly pressing the respective “ON” button for the corresponding switching channel (1, 2, 3, or 4). The red LED (7) on the outdoor switch lights up. The socket (6) on the front is now activated; the mains voltage is available and a connected consumer load is turned on.

• Briefly press the “OFF” button, for the switching channel, and the LED (7) goes out again; the mains voltage to the front socket (6), and thus the connected consumer load, is turned off.

Operation

• Connect the consumer load to the front socket (6).
• Please consult the section “Technical Data” for the consumer load’s permissible maximum power.
• By using the respective “ON” or “OFF” button for the switching channel on the handheld transmitter, the remote controlled outdoor switch is turned on/off for the same switching channel as set (the LED (7) lights up or turns off).

Transmission range

• The transmission range of the radio signals, between the handheld transmitter and the outdoor switch, is up to 70 m under optimum conditions.

• This value, however, is the so-called “open space range” (the range the transmitter and receiver are visible to each other, without disturbing influences). In practical operation, however, there are walls, ceil-ings of rooms etc. between the transmitter and the receiver, which reduce the range accordingly. Due to the different influences on the radio transmis-sion, no specific range can be guaranteed. However, trouble-free operation is usually possible in a detached house.

• The range can sometimes be limited considerably by:

  • Walls, reinforced concrete ceilings

  • Coated/metallised insulated glass

  • Proximity to metal & conducting objects (e.g., radiators)

  • Proximity to human bodies

  • Broadband interferences, e.g. in residential areas (DECT tele- phones, mobile phones, radio-controlled headphones, radio-con-trolled speakers, radio-controlled weather stations, baby phones etc.)

  • Proximity to electric motors, transformers, power-supply units,
    computers

  • Proximity to badly shielded or uncovered computers in use or other electrical appliances

Care and cleaning

The product does not require any maintenance and should never be opened or disassembled for any reason.

• Remove connected consumer loads from the remote controlled out-door switch and remove it from the mains socket, before cleaning the product.
• Only clean the product with a soft, clean, dry cloth. Never use ag-gressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions since these might damage the surface of the casing or impair the operation.
