Connection

With master LEVEL control turned down and power switched off, connect the IEC mains lead to an appropriate mains outlet. If a microphone is to be connected directly into the QS active speaker, connect it to either input 1 or 2 via XLR or 6.3mm jack. Connect any line level signal (e.g. MP3 player or CD player) or mixer output to the line input either via XLR or twin RCA lead. If the combined input signal is to continue to further active speakers, connect these from the LINE OUT from either the XLR connector or 6.3mm jack

Operation

BASS and TREBLE controls should remain to point vertically (12-o-clock position). With all 3 input LEVEL controls turned fully down, press the power switch on and turn the master LEVEL control up gradually part way. For each input, gradually turn up the LEVEL control until the required volume is achieved. Adjust the master LEVEL control to accommodate the overall required output volume and boost or cut TREBLE and BASS controls as required. If the CLIP LED is flashing regularly, turn down either input or master LEVEL controls until it stops. If the channel 2 signal is too low at this point, increase the GAIN to the desired level, taking care to avoid the signal distorting. When using a microphone, care must be taken to avoid feedback (loud squealing or howling sounds caused by the microphone being able to “hear” its own sound through the speaker) This can be avoided by keeping the microphone faced away from the speaker and avoiding high settings of LEVEL, TREBLE and BASS controls. Before switching the QS active speaker off, turn down the master LEVEL control to avoid loud clicks through the speaker. Remove the power lead if the unit is not to be used for long periods of time.
