GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS

WARNING:
Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool.

WORK AREA SAFETY

• Keep work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks, which may ignite the dust or fumes.
• Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

• Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
• Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
• Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
• Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
• When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.•
• If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, u se a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protected supply. Use of a GFCI reduces the risk of electric shock.

PERSONAL SAFETY

• Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

• Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

• Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

• Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
  This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts.  Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

• If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used.
  The use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

• Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.

POWER TOOL USE AND CARE

• Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

• Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

• Disconnect the plug from the power source, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

• Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

• Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

• Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
  Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

• Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed.
  Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

• Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry , clean and free from oil and grease.
  Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

• Do not use the tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.•

• Do not expose the tool to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 265 °F (130 °C) may cause an explosion.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR MULTI-TOOL
Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring.
Cutting accessory contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock.

Use clamps or another practical way to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform.
Holding the work by hand or against your body leaves it unstable and may lead to loss of control.
To reduce the risk of explosion, electric shock, and property damage, always check the work area for hidden gas pipes, electrical wires or water pipes when making blind or plunge cuts.
Keep hands away from all cutting edges and moving parts. Do not reach underneath the workpiece.

Do not use dull or damaged blades, which can cause excessive friction, blade binding and kickback.
Know your workpiece. Remove nail and screw heads before scraping. Hitting hard objects with a blade may cause the tool to kick back.

To reduce the risk of injury, when working in dusty situations, wear appropriate respiratory protection or use an OSHA-compliant dust extraction solution. Always use common sense and be cautious when using tools.
It is not possible to anticipate every situation that could result in a dangerous outcome. Do not use this tool if you do not understand these operating instructions or you feel the work is beyond your capability; contact Arrow or a trained professional for additional information or training.

Maintain labels and nameplates.
These carry important information. If unreadable or missing, contact an Arrow service facility for a free replacement.
Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction activities contain chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some examples of these chemicals are:

•  lead from lead-based paint
•  crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products, and
•  arsenic and chromium from chemically treated lumber.

Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated area, and work with approved safety equipment, such as those dust masks that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.

ASSEMBLY AND OPERATION

CHANGING ACCESSORIES
Disconnect the power cord from the power source before making any adjustments or changing accessories. Preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.

1.  Lift the quick-release lever and push it firmly forward over the detent.
2.  Place the tool upside down on a flat surface.
3.  Remove any accessories and adapters.
4.  Clean flange and accessories of all dirt and debris.
5.  Place the accessory onto the tool and align the hole in the accessory with the cam of the tool.
6.  Press the quick-release lever back into place.
7. Check that the accessory is seated securely. Accessories that are attached incorrectly or are not securely fixed in place may come loose during operation, thereby putting you at risk.

OPERATION

WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury, keep hands away from the blade and all moving parts.

When working in dusty situations, wear appropriate respiratory protection or use an OSHA-compliant dust extraction solution.

WARNING
Observe correct main voltage! The voltage of the power source must agree with the voltage specified on the nameplate of the machine.

Starting / Stopping

Make sure the tool is off before plugging into power source. “O” position is off the “I” position is on.

1.  To start the tool, grasp the handle and slide the switch forward to the ON (I) position.
2.  Allow the tool to come to full speed before beginning work.
3.  Control pressure and surface contact between accessory and workpiece.
4.  To stop the tool, slide the switch back to the OFF (O) position. Make sure the tool comes to a complete stop before laying the tool down.

Selecting Speed
To set the maximum speed, rotate the speed dial. Set the speed dial to “1” for the lowest speed (15,000 OPM). Set the speed dial to “6” for the highest speed (22,000 OPM).

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Sawing and Cutting
Install a sawing/cutting blade at an angle easy to use. Properly clamp the workpiece. Set the speed dial to a high speed. Start the tool and allow it to reach full speed. Use moderate pressure to avoid burning or scorching the workpiece. Use only undamaged saw blades that are in perfect condition. Bent or dull saw blades can break, negatively influence the cut, or lead to kickback. Use a flush cutting saw blade for making precise cuts in tight areas, close to edges, plunge or flush to a surface. It is important not to force the tool during the flush cutting. If you are experiencing a strong vibration in your hand during the cut, it indicates too much pressure on the tool. Back off on the pressure and let the speed of tool do the work.

Sanding
Install a sanding backing pad at an angle easy to use. Attach a paper to fit the backing pad. The material removal rate and sanding result are primarily determined by the choice of sanding sheet, the speed level, and the contact pressure. Pay attention to applying uniform sanding pressure; this increases the working life of the sanding sheets. Properly clamp the workpiece. Start the tool and allow it to reach full speed. Use light pressure and long, sweeping, side to side strokes, advancing forward to produce the desired finish. Intensifying the sanding pressure does not lead to an increase of the sanding capacity, but to increased wear of the machine and the sanding sheet.Work with the complete surface of the sandpaper, not only with the tip

Scraping:
Install a scraping blade at an angle easy to use. Start the tool and allow it to reach full speed. Use light pressure and a low angle to avoid gouging and damaging the workpiece. Scraper blades are suitable for removing vinyl, varnish, paint layers, carpeting, caulk, and other adhesives. Use a rigid scraper blade to remove harder materials, such as vinyl flooring, carpeting and tile adhesives in a large area.
Use a flexible scraper blade to remove softer material such as caulk.

MAINTENANCE

Inspect your tool for issues such as undue noise, misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, or any other condition that may affect the tool operation. To prevent accidents, always unplug the tool from the power source before cleaning or performing any maintenance. Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. The OSC7900-A tool is virtually maintenance-free. Keep tool clean and free of dust. Wipe clean with a dry cloth; do not use harsh chemicals to clean. All parts of Arrow Fastener products containing electrical or electronic components or parts (other than batteries) are warranted to the
original purchaser to be free from defects in material and workmanship for two years from the date of purchase. Arrow Fastener will repair or replace, FREE OF CHARGE, during the warranty period, any product that proves to be defective in material or workmanship under normal use. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you also may have other rights, which vary from state to state. In Canada, the above provisions are not intended to operate where prohibited by law and do not preclude the operation of any applicable provincial protection statute which may in certain circumstances extend the express warranty herein.
