- Open the packaging and take out the equip-ment with care.
- Remove the packaging material and any packaging and/or transportation braces (if available).
- Check to see if all items are supplied.
- Inspect the equipment and accessories for transport damage.
- If possible, please keep the packaging until the end of the guarantee period.

Proper use
The equipment is designed for cutting lawns and the edges of lawns. It is not designed to be used for public facilities, parks, sports centers, along roadways, or in agriculture and forestry. The ope-rating instructions as supplied by the manufacturer must be obeyed to ensure that the equipment is used properly.
Important
Due to the high risk of physical injury to the user, the equipment must not be used for any other purposes. The equipment is to be used only for its prescri- bed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. The user/operator and not the manufacturer will be liable for any damage or inju-ries of any kind caused as a result of this. Please note that our equipment has not been de-signed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Our warranty will be voided if the machine is used in commercial, trade or industrial businesses or for equivalent purposes.
Caution
Residual risks Even if you use this electric power tool in accordance with the instructions, certain residual risks cannot be eliminated. The fol-lowing hazards may arise in connection with the equipment‘s construction and layout:
- Lung damage if no suitable protective dust mask is used.
- Damage to hearing if no suitable ear protection is applied.
- Health damage is caused by hand-arm vibrations if the equipment is used over a longer period or is not properly guided and maintained.
- Injury and damage to property caused by flying parts.
- Cut injuries if no suitable safety clothing is used.
Danger
The electric power tool generates an electro-magnetic fi eld during operation. Under certain circumstances, this fi eld may actively or passively impede medical implants. To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries, we recommend persons with medical implants to consult their doctor and the manufacturer of the medical implant prior to using the equipment.
Technical data
Important!
The equipment is supplied without batteries and without a charger and is allowed to be used only with the lithium-ion batteries of the Power X-Change series! The lithium-ion batteries of the Power X-Change series are allowed to be charged only with the Power-X charger. The machine noise might exceed 85 dB (A). The operator will require noise protection measures if this is the case. The noise is measured in ac-cordance with ISO 22868. The value of the vibrations emitted by the handle was determined in accordance with ISO 22867. The vibration value changes according to the area of application of the electric equipment and may exceed the specifi ed value in exceptional circumstances.
Keep the noise emissions and vibrations to a minimum
- Only use appliances which are in perfect wor-king order.
- Service and clean the appliance regularly.
- Adapt your working style to suit the appliance.
- Do not overload the appliance.
- Have the appliance serviced whenever ne-cessary.
- Switch the appliance off when it is not in use.
- Wear protective gloves.
- Wear eye and hearing protection
Before starting the equipment
The equipment is supplied without batteries and without a charger!
Fitting the long handle ****
Slot the top part of the long handle (7) into the bottom part of the long handle (10). Screw the handle connecting piece (9) to the top part of the long handle with the union nut (8) on the bottom part of the long handle.
Adjusting the additional handle ****Open the handle adjustment lock (5). Set the desired tilt of the additional handle (6) and slide it into the required position. Close the handle ad-justment lock.
Adjusting the working depth
Danger
Adjust the working depth only when the equip-ment has been switched off and the rechargeable battery removed.
The working depth must be adjusted as follows ****
- Push the lever (15) outwards.
- Set the lever (15) to the desired working depth.
- Release the lever (15) and check that it is se-curely seated in the lock.
The working depth can be set to one of the 3 set-tings of 36.5 / 40 / 45 mm. Before you start work, check that the blade and none of the blade fasteners are damaged. To pre-vent any imbalance, replace damaged blades. To carry out this check, fi rst switch off the equipment and remove the rechargeable battery. Check that the equipment is in perfect condition and that the safety devices are complete, and also check that all moving parts move smoothly.
Fitting the battery
Press the of the pushlock button of the recharge-able battery and push the rechargeable battery into the mount provided. The battery will be heard to click into place when it has been pushed fully in. To remove the battery pack, proceed in reverse order.
Charging the battery
- Take the battery pack out of the equipment. Do this by pressing the pushlock button.
- Check that your mains voltage is the same as that marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. Insert the power plug of the charger (D) into the socket outlet. The green LED will then begin to fl ash.
- Insert the battery pack into the charger.
- In the section entitled „Charger indicator“ you will fi nd a table with an explanation of the LED indicator on the charger.
The battery pack can become a little warm during the charging. This is normal. If the battery pack fails to charge, check:

whether there is voltage at the socket outlet
-
whether there is good contact at the charging contacts
If the battery pack still fails to charge, send -
the charging unit
-
and the battery pack to our customer service center.
To ensure that items are properly packaged and delivered when you send them to us, please contact our customer service or the point of sale at which the equipment was purchased. When shipping or disposing of batteries and cordless tools, always ensure that they are packed individually in plastic bags to prevent short circuits and fi res. To ensure that the battery pack provides long ser-vice, you should take care to recharge it promptly. You must recharge the battery pack when you notice that the performance of the device drops. Never allow the battery pack to become fully di-scharged. This will cause it to develop a defect.
Battery capacity indicator Press the button for the battery capacity indicator (Item H). The battery capacity indicator (Item F) shows the charge status of the battery using 3 LEDs.
- All 3 LEDs are lit: The battery is fully charged.
- 2 or 1 LED(s) are lit: The battery has an adequate remaining charge.
- 1 LED blinks: The battery is empty, recharge the battery.
All LEDs flash:
The battery pack has undergone exhaustive di-scharge and is defective. Do not use or charge a defective battery pack.
Operation
To obtain maximum performance from your lawn edge trimmer, please follow the instructions given below.
- Never use the lawn edge trimmer without the guard.
- Do not use the equipment when it is wet. The best results are achieved with dry grass.
- Set the lawn edge trimmer down on the rear wheel for height adjustment (16) and tilt the lawn edge trimmer just enough for starting it up (Fig. 9).
- To switch on your lawn edge trimmer, press the safety lock-off (Fig. 6 / Item 3) and the On/Off switch (Fig. 6 / Item 4).
- To turn the lawn edge trimmer off, release the On/Off switch (Fig. 6 / Item 4).
- Do not allow the lawn edge trimmer near the grass until the switch is pressed, i.e. the lawn edge trimmer is in operation.
- To avoid unnecessary wear, keep the lawn edge trimmer away from hard objects.
- Using a brush or similar, carefully remove all residual grass from the guard hood at regular intervals.
Cleaning, maintenance and ordering of spare parts
Danger
Before putting away or cleaning the grass trim-mer, switch off and remove the battery pack.
Cleaning
- Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
- We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
- Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensu-re that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.
- Use a brush to remove deposits from the safety guard
Replacing the cutting blade
Danger! Remove the battery
Caution
Wear work gloves! Only replace the cutting blade with a genuine Einhell replacement cutting blade, as this will ensure top performance and safety under all conditions. Carry out the following steps to change the cut-ting blade:
- Insert the fi xing pin (17) in hole (A) provided on the blade mount (see Fig. 10).
- Undo the fastening screw using the wrench (18) (see Fig. 11).
- Remove the cutting blade and replace with a new one.
- When fi tting the cutting blade, make sure it is installed in the right direction.
- Then retighten the fastening screw with the universal wrench (18).
Maintenance
There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.

Disposal and recycling
The equipment is supplied in packaging to pre-vent it from being damaged in transit. The raw materials in this packaging can be reused or recycled. The equipment and its accessories are made of various types of material, such as metal and plastic. Never place defective equipment in your household refuse. The equipment should be taken to a suitable collection center for proper disposal. If you do not know the whereabouts of such a collection point, you should ask in your local council offices.
Storage and transport
Remove the batteries. Store the equipment and its accessories in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage tempe-rature is between 5 and 30 °C. Store the electric equipment in its original packaging.
- Always hold the equipment with one hand on the handle and the other hand on the additio-nal handle. Do not carry the equipment by its motor housing.
- Secure the equipment against slipping if you transport it in a vehicle.
- As far as possible, use the original packaging for transporting the equipment.
- Use a transport guard for metal blades during transport and storage.
Faults
The equipment does not work: Check that the battery is charged and whether the charging unit is working. If the equipment will not work in spite of the voltage supply being OK, please send it to the customer service address below.

The charger is charging the battery pack in quick charge mode. The char- ging times are shown directly on the charger.
Important! The actual charging times may vary slightly from the stated
charging times depending on the existing battery charge.
Off| On| The battery is charged and ready for use.
The unit then changes over to gentle charging mode until the battery is fully charged.
To do this, leave the rechargeable battery on the charger for approx. 15 minutes longer.
Action:
Take the battery pack out of the charger. Disconnect the charger from the mains supply.
Flashing| Off| Adapted charging
The charger is in gentle charging mode.
For safety reasons the charging is performed less quickly and takes more time. The reasons can be:
– The rechargeable battery has not been used for a very long time.
– The battery temperature is outside the ideal range.
Action:
Wait for the charging to be completed; you can still continue to charge the battery pack.
Flashing| Flashing| Fault
Charging is no longer possible. The battery pack is defective.
Action:
Never charge a defective battery pack. Take the battery pack out of the charger.
On| On| Temperature fault
The battery pack is too hot (e.g. due to direct sunshine) or too cold (below 0° C).
Action:
Remove the battery pack and keep it at room temperature (approx. 20° C) for one day .
For EU countries only Never place any electric power tools in your household refuse. To comply with European Directive 2012/19/EC concerning old electric and electronic equipment and its implementation in national laws, old electric power tools have to be separated from other waste and disposed of in an environment-friendly fashion, e.g. by taking to a recycling depot.
Recycling alternative to the return request
As an alternative to returning the equipment to the manufacturer, the owner of
the electrical equipment must make sure that the equipment is properly
disposed of if he no longer wants to keep the equipment. The old equipment can
be returned to a suitable collection point that will dispose of the equipment
in accordance with the national recycling and waste disposal regulations. This
does not apply to any ac-cessories or aids without electrical components
supplied with the old equipment. The reprinting or reproduction by any other
means, in whole or in part, of documentation and papers ac-companying products
is permitted only with the express consent of the Einhell Germany AG.

- The warranty services cover only defects due to material or manufacturing faults on a product which you have bought from the manufacturer mentioned below and are limited to either the rectifi cation of said defects on the product or the replacement of the product, whichever we prefer.
