INTRODUCTION

Thank you for deciding to purchase the Birling Back Rest from Aidapt. The Birling
Back Rest is manufactured from the finest material and components available, when installed and used correctly it is designed to give many years of reliable trouble-free service.

The Birling Back Rest can be used on single, double, queen and king size beds.

N.B. This equipment must be installed by a competent person and a risk assessment may be needed as to the suitability of the chair for the particular user. 108 kg (17 st.) weight limit.

Do not exceed the weight limit stated – doing so could put the user at risk.

BEFORE USE

Carefully remove all packaging. Avoid using any knives of other sharp instruments as this may damage the surface of the product.

Check the product for any visible damage If you see any damage or suspect a fault, do not use your product, but contact your supplier for support.

N.B. Part of the product packaging is plastic, please take care when handling and keep the packaging well away from children and babies to avoid the danger of suffocation.

Please dispose of all packaging carefully.

ASSEMBLY AND INSTRUCTION

  1. Place the back rest onto the bed squarely with the blue fabric covered support section facing upwards and the small padded head rest at the top of the bed.
  2. Raise the blue fabric covered support section of the back rest to the required height.
  3. Insert the hinged holding bar on the back of the support section into one of the sets of plastic hook stays on the base of the product.
  4. Ensure that the bar is fully located both of the hook stays before use.

HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT

The Birling Back Rest is designed to give you many years of service, however please note the important information below to ensure that your product remains in good working order.

  • Do not exceed the weigh limit of 17 stone (108 kg) as this will compromise the safety of the user
  • Do not share the backrest with anyone; it is designed for one person only
  • Do not place any obstacles or limbs between the opening section of the back rest at any time
  • Check that the back rest is properly located in the plastic hook stays on a regular basis
  • Check the back rest for any damage regularly, if you notice any damage to the product frame or fabric, please contact your supplier immediately
  • Keep naked flames, cigars and cigarettes well away from the back rest

CLEANING

It is important that you only clean the product using a non-abrasive cleaner or mild detergent with a soft cloth. Abrasive cleaners e.g. AJAX and/ or abrasive cleaning pads will seriously damage the product beyond repair. Always ensure that you wipe dry the equipment after cleaning.

REISSUE

If you reissue or are about to reissue this product, please thoroughly check all components for their safety.

This includes:

  • Tightness of all nuts/bolts/castors and other screw in/bolt in/push in components.
  • Also check all upholstery (if applicable) for security, splits, exposed staples, etc

If in any doubt, please do not issue or use, but immediately contact your supplier for service support.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Please make a safety check of the product at regular intervals or if you have any concerns.
