SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS
Before using the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) you must read carefully
and understand the safety information described on the general instructions
and the specific equipment instructions. ATTENTION!!! If you have any doubt
about the product, if you need other language versions of the instructions for
use, declarations of conformity or any questions about the PPE, please contact
us: www.fallsafe-online.com.
WARNING: The manufacturer and the seller decline any responsibility in
case of incorrect use, improper application, or modifications/ reparations by
persons not authorized by FALL SAFE.
Connect the karabiner (EN 362) to be held in the major axis positioning and protects the end of the lanyard from wear; clip a locking karabiner (auto- locking preferred) through the attachment point; make sure that the line is taut; attach the anchor line to a secure anchor point EN795; attach the rope grab with the integrated energy absorber to your harness (EN361) dorsal or front D-ring “A”; make sure that the rope grab is at the user shoulders level and not under it.WARNING: Verify that this product is compatible with other elements of the system in your application (compatible = good functional interaction). “Edge Tested” on the energy-absorbing unit has also been successfully tested for horizontal use and a fall over the edge was simulated from this. In this case, an edge radius of r=0.5mm/ Type A (according to European specification sheet 11.060) was used for fall arresting devices with wire rope lanyards. On the basis of this, the fall arrester is suitable for use over similar edges, such as rolled steel profiles, wooden beams or a covered, round parapet wall.WARNING Other types of edges are not allowed and use is prohibited. To be used in the horizontal conditions, the anchorage point must be located at the same level as the edge, where the risk of fall exists. In order to avoid pendulum effects, the working area must not exceed a 30° angle limit, from each side of the vertical of anchorage point. IMPORTANT! The maximum user weight is limited to 100kg in this application.
Despite this test, the following must be observed for all cases during horizontal or sloping use where there is a risk of falling over an edge:
-
If the hazard evaluation performed before commencing work reveals that the falling edge involves a particularly “sharp cutting” and/or “burred” edge (e.g. uncovered parapet walls or sharp concrete edge and if devices with fasteners made from webbings are to be used:
– Corresponding precautions must be taken so that a fall over the edge is precluded, or
– An edge protection must be mounted before commencing work, or
– The manufacturer must be contacted -
The suspension point of the fall arrester must not be below the standing area (e.g. platform, flat roof) of the user. (picture 3)
-
The deflection at the edge (measured between the two flanges of the joints and fastenings) must be at least 90*.
-
The required headroom below the edge is depicted in picture 5.
-
In order to prevent a swinging fall, the work area or side movements from the center axis must be restricted to max. 1.50m. In other cases, no individual anchorage points, but instead e.g. stopping devices of class C (only if approved for joint use) or D as per EN795 must be used.
-
Note: When using the fall arrester on a stopping device of class C corresponding to EN795 with a horizontally moving guide, the deflection of the stopping device must also be taken into consideration when ascertaining the required clearance height below the user. The information in the instructions for use must be observed for this.
-
Note: In the case of a fall over an edge, there is a risk of injury during the catching process as a result of the falling person hitting building parts or structural parts.
-
Special measures for rescuing must be specified and practiced for the event of a fall over the edge.
-
Note: Fall arrest devices identified with pictures “A”, “B”, “C”, and “D” are not suited for fall impacts over unprotected edges (e.g. retractable Dyneema or Stainless steel rope lanyards). ATTENTION: When a complete system is supplied, components of any complete system shall not be substituted;

WARNING: Check the markings are legible even after use.
WARNING: it is essential for the safety of the user that if the product
is re-sold outside the original country of destination the reseller shall
provide instructions for use, for maintenance, periodic examination, and for
repair in the language of the country in which the product is to be used.
LIFETIME
It is rather difficult to establish the length of the device’s life, as it can
be adversely affected by several negative factors such as intense, frequent or
improper use; the conditions the device is required to work in (humid,
freezing, and icy conditions); wear; corrosion; serious stress with or without
relative deformation; exposure to heat sources; improper storage; device age;
exposure to chemical agents… (plus any further reason, not merely limited to
all the foregoing reasons). Taking adequate care of your device (please
consult the “Maintenance”) will have a considerable influence on and will
definitely increase device durability and long life. By the way of example,
the following can be considered as a rule to determine standard potential
durability of devices, tools, and equipment: ten years for fall protection
harness, fall protection vests/jackets/ coveralls, accessories (lanyards,
foot loop, suspension trauma, and relief strap) anchor lines, anchor straps,
ropes, carrying bags, fall arrest webbing blocks and sharp edge tested; eight
years for equipment conditioned to extreme environments (harness, lanyards,
vests, jackets, and coveralls); undefined for connectors, descenders, rope
clamps, rope grabs, pulleys, anchor points; especially 10 years (5 in stock –
5 in use) for gloves and helmet. It is nevertheless recommended that you
replace your devices, tools, and equipment at least every 10 years,
considering that in the meantime new techniques or regulations may have become
applicable and the equipment may no longer be compliant and/or compatible.
WARNING: The lifetime of equipment can be limited in case of severe
falls, extreme temperatures, contact with harmful chemicals, sharp edges, and
the absence of markings or labels.
ELIMINATION/ DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
You should dispose of the equipment if the lifetime has been exceeded; if you
suspect that the equipment is not safe; if it is obsolete (incompatible with
modern equipment or
that do not conform to the standards updates); if it has been in a fall event
(see the fall arrest indicator was violated); if it is over 10 years.
The materials used in equipment production may cause environmental impacts.
For this purpose, it is recommended that the equipment is disposed of in
accordance with the laws in force in the country where the disposal is taking
place.
WARNING: The equipment which is not in operable condition or used in a
fall event must be destroyed immediately.
REPARATION
ATTENTION!!! Any modification to the product void the guarantee and can compromise the user’s safety. The possibility of re-using the device must be authorized exclusively by the producer with prior written consent that reserves the right to carry out appropriate examinations and testing. Only the manufacturer or authorized staff can make the repairs and tampering.
MAINTENANCE, CLEANING, AND INSPECTION
Check before, after, and during use that the equipment works properly. If you need to wash the components use clean water with a small amount of neutral soap to remove persistent dirt or if the purpose is to disinfect dissolve a disinfectant that contains quaternary ammonium salts in warm water (max. 20ºC), soak the equipment in this solution for one hour. Rinse with potable water and leave them to dry out in the open air protected from sunlight. WARNING: when the equipment becomes wet, either from in use or when due to cleaning, I shall be allowed t dry naturally and shall be kept away from direct heat. If you need to lubricate the metal components you must use only silicone-based oil spray. WARNING: Remove the excess oil and check if the lubrication doesn’t interfere with the interaction between the device, other components of the system, and the users. Accordingly to EN 365:2004, the PPE periodical examination should be carried out at least every 12 months by the manufacturer or a competent person specifically authorized by the manufacturer. The frequency of inspection must vary depending on the intensity of usage, in order to ensure the durability of the product and the safety of the user. The inspection reports must be kept by the PPE owner. The result of the inspection must always accompany the product. If the report is missing or illegible, do not use the device. In case of doubt, the product should always be rejected. The FALL SAFE INSPECTOR® allows you to easily record and access information on inspections, inventory, and use. It tracks equipment assignments by worker or location and automates the inspection process. There are multiple system options available that allow for easy access and time- saving information. WARNING: for regular periodic examination, the safety of users depends upon the continued efficiency and durability of the equipment. WARNING: periodic examinations are only to be conducted by a person competent for periodic examination and strictly in accordance with the manufacturer´s periodic examination procedures.
