LIFE TIME
It is rather difficult to establish the length of the device’s life, as it can
be adversely affected by several negative factors such as intense, frequent or
improper use; the conditions the device is required to work in (humid,
freezing and icy conditions); wear; corrosion; serious stress with or without
relative deformation; exposure to heat sources; improper storage; device age;
exposure to chemical agents… (plus any further reason, not merely limited to
all the foregoing reasons). Taking the adequate care of your device (please
consult the “Maintenance”) will have a considerable influence on and will
definitely increase device durability and long life. By the way of example,
the following can be considered as a rule to determine standard potential
durability of devices, tools and equipment: ten years for fall protection
harness, fall protection vests/jackets/ coveralls, accessories (lanyards, foot
loop, suspension trauma and relief strap) anchor lines, anchor straps, ropes,
carrying bags, fall arrest webbing blocks and sharp edge tested; eight years
for equipment conditioned to extreme environments (harness, lanyards, vests,
jackets and coveralls); undefined for connectors, descenders, rope clamps,
rope grabs, pulleys, anchor points; especially 10 years (5 in stock – 5 in
use) for gloves and helmet . It is nevertheless recommended that you replace
your devices, tools and equipment at least every 10 years, considering that in
the meantime new techniques or regulations may have become applicable and the
equipment may no longer be compliant and/or compatible.
WARNING: The lifetime of an equipment can be limited in case of severe falls,
extreme temperatures, contact with harmful chemicals, sharp edges and the
absence of markings or labels.
ELIMINATION/ DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
You should dispose of the equipment if: the lifetime has been exceed; if you
suspect that the equipment is not safe; if it is obsolete (incompatible with
modern equipment or that do not conform to the standards updates); if it has
been in a fall event (see the fall arrest indicator was violated); if it is
over than 10 years.
The materials used in the equipment production may cause environmental
impacts. For this purpose it is recommended that the equipment are disposed of
in accordance with the laws in force in the country where the disposal is
taking place.

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS
Before using the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) you must read carefully
and understand the safety information described on general instruction and the
specific equipment instructions. The karabiner (EN362) must be held in the
major axis positioning (the strongest) to protect the end of the lanyard from
wear. Do not use your energy absorber without the lanyard. Connect a locking
karabiner (auto locking preferred) through the attachment point. Make sure
that the energy absorber is correctly attached to one of the fall arrest
attachment points on the harness (sternal or dorsal point only). The total
length of the assembly (energy absorber with integrated lanyard + connectors)
should not exceed 2 meters. The fall length must not exceed 4 meters, so never
connect the lanyard directly to a structure (cable, bar, etc.) having a slope
greater than 15°, because this length can be exceeded. Take care to minimize
the falls height and potential. WARNING: Karabiners must always be used with
the gate closed and locked. Avoid contact with sharp or abrasive surfaces and
objects. The anchor point of the system should preferably be located above the
user’s positioning and must conform to the requirements of the EN 795
standard, minimum strength 12kN.
ATTENTION: The distance clearance it´s the necessary minimum clearance below
the feet of the user, in order to avoid collision with the structure or ground
in a fall from the height.
Distance clearance (DC) = length of the lanyard (LL) + deceleration distance
(DD) + height of suspended worker (HH) + safety distance (SD). The lanyard
shall not be used for fall arrest purposes without an energy absorber. Should
minimise the amount of slack in the lanyard near a fall hazard (picture 3) and
when adjusting the length of a lanyard to avoid the risk of fall, you should
not move into an area where there is a fall hazard. The lanyard never may be
used choke hitched. It is not allowed/not allowed to arrange/set up lanyards
when combined with another energy absorber non-Fall Safe® brand. Do not make
exhaustive configurations such was two separate lanyards each with an energy
absorber should not be used side by side (i.e. parallel) or the free tail of a
twin tail lanyard combined with energy absorber should not be clipped back on
the harness. Read all system components instruction to be acknowledged the
information about how to connect to a reliable anchor point, to a full body
harness and to other components. The temperature, the sharp edges, chemical
reagents, electrical conductivity, cutting, abrasion, UV degradation, other
climatic conditions may affect its performance of the equipments. Before and
during use, consideration should be given as to how any rescue could be safely
and eciently carried out.
The product should only be used by a trained and/or otherwise competent person
or the user should be under the direct supervision of such a person. If you
have any doubt about the product, if you need others language version of the
instructions for use, declarations of conformity or any question about the
PPE, please contact us: www.fallsafe-online.com. WARNING: The manufacturer and the seller decline any
responsibility in case of incorrect use, improper application or
modifications/ reparations by persons not authorized by FALL SAFE®.
