PRECAUTIONS BEFORE USE

KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS IN MIND:

  1. Do not cover or block any ventilation openings. When placing the device on a shelf, leave 5 cm (2”) free space around the whole device.

  2. Install in accordance with the supplied user manual.

  3. Keep the device away from heat sources such as radiators, heaters, stoves, candles, and other heat-generating products or naked flame. The device can only be used in moderate climates. Extremely cold or warm environments should be avoided. Working temperature between 0° and 35°C.

  4. Avoid using the device near strong magnetic fields.

  5. Electrostatic discharge can disturb the normal usage of this device. If so, simply reset and restart the device following the instruction manual. During file transmission, please handle with care and operate in a static-free environment.

  6. Warning! Never insert an object into the product through the vents or openings. High voltage flows through the product and inserting an object can cause electric shock and/or short circuit internal parts. For the same reason, do not spill water or liquid on the product.

  7. Do not use in wet or moist areas such as bathrooms, steamy kitchens or near swimming pools.

  8. The device shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and make sure that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, are placed on or near the apparatus.

  9. Do not use this device when condensation may occur. When the unit is used in a warm wet room with damp, water droplets or condensation may occur inside the unit and the unit may not function properly; let the unit stand in power OFF for 1 or 2 hours before turning on the power: the unit should be dry before getting any power.

  10. Although this device is manufactured with the utmost care and checked several times before leaving the factory, it is still possible that problems may occur, as with all electrical appliances. If you notice smoke, an excessive build-up of heat or any other unexpected phenomena, you should disconnect the plug from the main power socket immediately.

  11. This device must operate on a power source as specified on the specification label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply used in your home, consult your dealer or local power company.

  12. Keep away from animals. Some animals enjoy biting on power cords.

  13. To clean the device, use a soft dry cloth. Do not use solvents or petrol-based fluids. To remove severe stains, you may use a damp cloth with diluted detergent.

  14. The supplier is not responsible for damage or lost data caused by malfunction, misuse, modification of the device, or battery replacement.

  15. Do not interrupt the connection when the device is formatting or transferring files. Otherwise, data may be corrupted or lost.

  16. If the unit has a USB playback function, the USB memory stick should be plugged into the unit directly. Don’t use a USB extension cable because it can cause interference resulting in failure of data.

  17. The rating label has been marked on the bottom or back panel of the device.

  18. This device is not intended for use by people (including children) with physical, sensory, or mental disabilities, or a lack of experience and knowledge unless they’re under supervision or have received instructions about the correct use of the device by the person who is responsible for their safety.

  19. This product is intended for nonprofessional use only and not for commercial or industrial use.

  20. Make sure the unit is adjusted to a stable position. Damage caused by using this product in an unstable position vibrations or shocks or by failure to follow any other warning or precaution contained within this user manual will not be covered by warranty.

  21. Never remove the casing of this device.

  22. Never place this device on other electrical equipment.

  23. Do not allow children access to plastic bags.

  24. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.

  25. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the device has been damaged in any way, such as the power supply cord or the plug, when the liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the device, when the device has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

  26. Long exposure to loud sounds from personal music players may lead to temporary or permanent hearing loss.

  27. If the product is delivered with a power cable or AC power adaptor:
    • If any trouble occurs, disconnect the AC power cord and refer servicing to qualified personnel.
    • Don’t step on or pinch the power adaptor. Be very careful, particularly near the plugs and the cable’s exit point. Do not place heavy items on the power adaptor, which may damage it. Keep the entire device out of children’s reach! When playing with the power cable, they can seriously injure themselves.
    • Unplug this device during lightning storms or when unused for a long period.
    • The socket-outlet must be installed near the equipment and must be easily accessible.
    • Do not overload ac outlets or extension cords. Overloading can cause fire or electric shock.
    • Devices with class 1 construction should be connected to a main socket outlet with a protective earthed connection.
    • Devices with class 2 construction do not require an earthed connection.
    • Always hold the plug when pulling it out of the main supply socket. Do not pull the power cord. This can cause a short circuit.
    • Do not use a damaged power cord or plug or a loose outlet. Doing so may result in fire or electric shock.

  28. If the product contains or is delivered with a remote control containing coin/cell batteries: Warning:
    • “Do not ingest battery, Chemical Burn Hazard” or equivalent working.
    • [The remote control supplied with] This product contains a coin/button cell battery. If the battery is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death.
    • Keep new and used batteries away from children.
    • If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children. If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.

  29. Caution about the use of Batteries:
    • The danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type.
    • The battery cannot be subjected to high or low extreme temperatures, or low air pressure at high altitudes during use, storage or transportation.
    • Replacement of a battery with an incorrect type can result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
    • Disposal of a battery into fire or a hot oven, or mechanically crushing or cutting of a battery, can result in an explosion.
    • Leaving a battery in an extremely high temperature surrounding environment can result in an explosion or that leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
    • A battery is subjected to extremely low air pressure that may result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
    • Attention should be drawn to the environmental aspects of battery disposal.

INSTALLATION

  • Unpack all parts and remove protective material.
  • Do not connect the unit to the mains before checking the mains voltage and before all other connections have been made.

  1. STANDBY
    Press to turn on the unit. Press again to turn off and go to Standby mode

  2. FUNC.
    Press to choose different modes of operation: FM/CD/USB/AUX IN/BT

  3. FOLDER
    Press to change to the next folder (MP3 file only)

  4. DISPLAY
    Display the unit operation status and information

  5. PLAY MODE
    Press to change to different playback modes of operation

  6. STOP
    Press to stop the CD/USB playback operation

  7. PLAY/PAUSE
    FM: Press and hold to start auto-scanning and store all available FM stations
    CD/USB/BT: Press to toggle between pause and resume playback operation

    Press to tune to the next FM preset station

  10. FM ST/MO
    FM: Press toggle between stereo and force mono when FM station is received

    FM: Press to tune to a different frequency. Press and hold to scan the next available station

    FM: Press to tune to a different frequency. Press and hold to scan the next available station

    The antenna should be extended to ensure a good FM reception

  3. BATTERY COMPARTMENT DOOR

CONNECTING TO THE POWER SUPPLY

  1. Connect the end of the detachable power cord to the unit rear panel ~ AC IN jack and the other end to the AC outlet.
  2. Press the STANDBY ****button to turn on the unit.

BATTERY-POWERED USAGE
For DC operation, firstly remove the AC plug from the AC outlet and disconnect the AC cord from the ~ AC IN jack. Then insert 6pcs size C (UM-2) batteries (NOT supplied) into the battery compartment.
Note:
– Since the unit draws a little power from the batteries in standby mode, remove the batteries if the unit is not going to be used for a long time.
BASIC OPERATION
Press the STANDBY button to turn on the unit. To turn off, press the STANDBY button again.
FM/CD/USB/AUX IN/BT
Press the FUNC. button to select between different sources.
Volume Control
Press the VOLUME +/- buttons to change the volume.
Adjusting the Antenna
The antenna at the rear panel of the unit should be fully extended to ensure a good FM reception. Alter the antenna
position for the best reception.
FM RADIO OPERATION
Auto Scan

  1. Turn on the unit in FM mode.
  2. Press and hold the ****button to start auto-scanning and saving the available stations (max. 30 storage).

Manual Scan

  1. Press the PREVIOUS or NEXT button repeatedly to tune to a different frequency.
  2. Alternatively, press and hold the PREVIOUS or NEXT button to automatically search to the next available station.

Storing FM Presets
You can save up to 30 FM presets.

  1. Tune to the station you wish to store.
  2. Press and hold the PRESET button. A flashing preset station number is displayed.
  3. Press the PREVIOUS or NEXT button to a preset number that you want to store. Then press the PRESET button to save.

Recall FM Presets
Press the PRESET button to tune to the next FM preset station.
Stereo/Force Mono Selection
When receiving a stereo broadcast FM station, press the FM ST/MO button will switch between stereo audio and force mono audio.
CD/USB OPERATION
Loading and Playing CD Disc
Open the CD door. Install a disc with the CD label side facing up. Close the CD door. Press the FUNC. button to CD mode. After reading, the total number of tracks will be shown on the display and it will automatically start to play.
Reading and Playing USB Device
Insert a USB device into the USB input jack. Press the FUNC. button to USB mode. After reading the total number of tracks will be shown on the display. It will automatically start to play.
Play/Pause Control
To pause playback press the PLAY/PAUSE **button. Press the button again to resume playback.
Stop Control
To stop playback press the STOP button.
Skip Track
During playback press the PREVIOUS **
or NEXT **button to skip to the previous or next track.
High-Speed Music Search
During playback press & hold the PREVIOUS **
or NEXT button to start high-speed searching. When you release the PREVIOUS or NEXT ****button normal speed playback will resume.

Repeat Play/Random Play
CD Disc mode
During playback press, the PLAY MODE button once, and the display shows “REPEAT1”. The current track will be played repeatedly.
When pressing the PLAY MODE button again, the display shows “REPEAT ALL”. All tracks will be played repeatedly.
When pressing the PLAY MODE button again, the display shows “RAND”. All tracks will be played in a random sequence.
When pressing the PLAY MODE button again, the unit will resume normal playback.

MP3 Disc or MP3 USB mode
During playback press the PLAY MODE button once, and the display shows “REPEAT1”. The current track will be played repeatedly.
When pressing the PLAY MODE button again, the display shows “REPEAT FOLDER”. All tracks in the current folder will be played repeatedly.
When pressing the PLAY MODE button again, the display shows “REPEAT ALL”. All tracks will be played repeatedly.
When pressing the PLAY MODE button again, the display shows “RAND”. All tracks will be played in a random sequence.
When pressing the PLAY MODE button again, the unit will resume to normal playback.

Programmed Playback
This unit can be programmed to play a sequence of tracks selected.

  1.  Insert a CD disc and in stop mode press the PLAY MODE. “PROG” is shown with the program number flashing on the display.
  2. Press the PREVIOUS or NEXT button to select the desired track.
  3. Press the PLAY MODE button to save the desired track.
  4. Repeat steps 2-4 to program up to 20 programmed tracks.
  5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE ****button to start playing the programmed tracks.
  6. To clear the program play, press the STOP button twice or change to another mode.
  7. During program play, you can also do the “Repeat One” or “Repeat All” operation, however, random play is not supported.
    • For an MP3 disc or MP3 USB, you can program up to 99 tracks.

Folder Select (MP3 file only)
During MP3 playback press the FOLDER button to change to the next folder. In the stop, mode press the FOLDER button to change to the next folder. Then press the PREVIOUS or NEXT button to select your desired track to play. Press the PLAY/PAUSE ****button to start track playback.

Note:
– For MP3 playback, a maximum of 99 folders with a maximum of 999 files is supported.

BLUETOOTH AUDIO
Please follow the pairing instructions below to link the unit to your Bluetooth device.

  1.  Press the FUNC. Button repeatedly until the display shows “bt”. The “bt” will start to flash after a few seconds, indicating that it is searching for previously connected  Bluetooth devices.
  2. If the unit has never been paired with a Bluetooth device before or cannot find the last paired device, the display will keep on flashing. Turn on the Bluetooth function of your device and enable the search until “Lenco SCD-501” is found. Select “Lenco SCD-501” on the Bluetooth device to make the connection. Enter the passcode “0000” if required.
  3. When the pairing has succeeded the display will show “bt” continuously.
  4. You can now start playing music from your Smartphone/tablet/MP3 player wirelessly to the speaker.
  5. You can press the PLAY/PAUSE ****button to pause or resume the playback.
  6. You can press the PREVIOUS or NEXT button to skip to the previous/next song. Press and hold the PLAY/PAUSE ****button will disconnect the current connection and start to search for another new Bluetooth device.
    “This product has a Bluetooth reception function, you can not transmit any Bluetooth sound with it: this means that you can receive wirelessly a Bluetooth sound signal from an external source like a smartphone.”

AUX IN
This allows you to connect an external sound source.

  1. Plug a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) into your external player’s line out and the other end into the AUX jack.
  2. Press the FUNC. button to enter AUX mode. The display shows “AU”.
  3. Start your external player to play music.
  4. The unit will output the sound.

ENERGY SAVING
This unit complies with the ERP2 requirement, which means that this unit will go into standby mode if no music is played for 15 minutes. To reactivate the unit, press the STANDBY ****button.

Trouble Shooting

No power

  • Ensure that the main cable is securely connected.

  • Ensure that the unit is switched on.
    The remote control does not function

  • Use the remote control near to the unit.

  • Point the remote control at the remote control sensor on the unit.

  • Replace the batteries in the remote control with new ones.

  • Remove any obstacles between the remote control and the unit.
    The unit does not respond when pressing any buttons.

  • Remove the batteries (when inserted) and remove the power cord for a minute. Then reinsert the batteries.
    No sound output

  • Turn up the volume with VOL+.
    I can’t find the Bluetooth name of this unit on my Bluetooth device for Bluetooth pairing

  • Ensure that the unit is switched on.

  • Ensure that the Bluetooth function is activated on your Bluetooth device.

  • The unit has a Bluetooth function that can receive a signal within 10 meters.
    Disc in place but the unit won’t play

  • Ensure that the disc label is facing up.

  • Ensure that the disc is clean.

  • PAUSE mode may be activated, deactivate it.

  • The disc may be damaged or dirty; check and clean the disc.
    FM reception

  • Ensure the FM telescopic antenna is fully extended.

  • Electrical interference in your home can cause poor reception. Move the unit away from them (especially those with motors and transformers).
    The unit switches off automatically during play

  • Increase the volume level of your connected sound source (DVD player/TV etc.)
    Sound interference coming from the speakers in Speakers

  • Move any wireless devices (mobile phone, Bluetooth device, etc.) away from the unit.
