User’s Guide

For safe use, please read the following instructions and warnings carefully. Please keep this documentation for future reference and use.

Warnings:

  • Do not use the device in an explosive atmosphere, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dusts.
  • The device cannot tell the presence of the substance to be detected with 100% accuracy!
  • In order to preserve the physical integrity of the building, be sure to check the blueprints and documentation of the building before drilling and cutting.
  • Note that environmental influences (eg humidity) and the proximity of electrical devices can affect the measurement accuracy.
  • The measurement accuracy depends largely on the type of material, moisture content, quality and thickness of the insulating materials to be measured.
  • Please use this guide to find the correct settings while using the machine.
  • Do not disassemble or modify the device!
  • In the event of a malfunction of the device, contact a specialist garage!
  •  The manufacturer and distributor are not liable for any damage resulting from improper use of the device!
  • Protect the device from moisture, humidity and direct sunlight.
  •  Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures or temperature changes!
  • Do not use the appliance in the event of a significant temperature change! Wait for the device to reach ambient temperature.
  • Wireless devices (Wifi, Bluetooth, UMTS, radio signals, microwaves) communicating at different frequencies and signal levels can affect the accuracy of the measurement.
  • The measuring instrument can only be stored and transported in the enclosed case when

Intended use

The device is used to detect metals (ferrous and non-ferrous metals, eg rebar), beams and live wires / conductors in walls, ceilings and floors.

Structure of the measuring instrument:

  1. LED indicator light

  2.  Display

  3. On / Off button

  4.  Wood sensor button

  5. Metal / live wire sensor button

  6. Detection area

  7.  Textile pillow

  8. Product label

  9. Battery holder

  10. Neck strap / wrist strap fastening

Display elements:

a) Battery indicator light
b) Beeper off (mute)
c) Non-magnetic (diamagnetic) marker
d) “Autocal” calibration indicator
e) Metal sensor depth indicator (mm)
f ) Metal detector indicator
g) Live cable detection
h) Wood detection
i) The middle point of the measurement
j) Measuring indicator
k) Magnetic marker

If you turn on the device but nothing appears on the display, check the battery status. Replace the battery if necessary.
If the device is not used for a long time, the battery must be removed from the device.

Switching on and off

Press the “on / off” button (3) to switch on the device
To switch off the device, press the “on / off” button (3) again.
If none of the buttons on the measuring tool are pressed for approx. For 5 minutes and no objects are detected, the device automatically shuts off to conserve battery power.
To turn the beeper on and off, press the wood (4) and metal (5) softkeys at the same time.

Detection of objects

Move the measuring tool parallel to the detection point (6) on the surface without lifting it off the flat surface.
The measurement is only successful and accurate if there is continuous contact with the surface to be tested.

Detection of metal objects

After switching on, press the metal sensor button (5). A steel beam symbol (f) will then appear on the display and the
LED above the display will light green.
Place the measuring tool on the surface to be examined and slowly move it sideways. If the measuring tool is close to a metal object, an acoustic signal sounds and the size of the measuring indicator (j) changes on the display. Move the tool on the surface until you find the center of the detected object. The LED lights up red. As it moves away from the detected object, the amplitude decreases. (j)
If the detected metal is non-magnetic (eg copper), the icon on the left side of the display will appear. (c) If the detected metal is magnetic (eg iron), the icon on the left side of the display will appear. (k)
If the metal is too deep relative to the plane of the surface, the yellow LED will light up.
Note: When searching for metal objects, the detection depth of the object is displayed. The accuracy of the depth value also depends on the shape, position and size of the detected metal. The size required for accurate detection is a metal object with a diameter / cross-section of at least 20 mm.

The measuring instrument must be calibrated if:

  1. The meter automatically enters metal detection mode. If the meter is not near a metal in the environment, but the buzzer emits a detection tone and the red or yellow LED flashes.
  2. In the event of extreme temperatures or temperature changes, the accuracy of the measuring instrument may change, in which case the measuring instrument must be calibrated.
The calibration method is as follows: Place the meter on a metal-free surface. Press the metal detection button (5) for approx. For 2 seconds, the meter will begin a short self-test. Wait patiently, do not move the device! If the LED is green, the calibration was successful!

Search for live wires

The live wire appears on the display in all modes. The warning symbol (g) also appears on the right side of the display!
The sensor can only detect live wires operating at 50 or 60 Hz. No other wires indicated!
Press button (5) twice to start the “Search for live wires” function. The symbol for live wires (g) will appear on the display and the LED above the display will light up green.
Place the measuring tool on the surface and move it slowly. If the meter is very close to the “live” wire, the amplitude of the indicator (j) will increase and the beeper will sound a quick sequence. Move the gauge to the center of the scanned object. In the position of maximum amplitude, the “live” wire is located below the center of the sensor. The indicator (i) will then appear on the display, the buzzer will sound quickly and the LED indicator will light red. As you move away from the “live” wire, the amplitude decreases.
Note: “Live” wires are easier to detect if power consumers (eg lamps, appliances) are connected to the circuit of the wire you are looking for and power is being consumed.

Maintenance, cleaning

If you experience inaccuracies or erroneous measurements when using a measuring instrument, calibrate the instrument using the method mentioned above.
If the device gets dirty, clean it with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquids or chemicals during cleaning! In order to make the measurement as accurate as possible, no stickers or nameplates can be placed on the front and back of the meter with sensor!]

Recycling, destruction

Measuring instruments, accessories and packaging must be sorted for environmentally friendly recycling. Do not dispose of measuring instruments, batteries / rechargeable batteries in household waste! Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life. At the end of its service life, the device must be disposed of in accordance with legal regulations. In order to protect our environment, suitable parts of the device must be recycled. Further information can be obtained from the competent administrative authorities or local recycling facilities.
