INTRODUCTION

POWER ON

  • Take out the robot carefully from the box and place it on a flat surface;
  • Press and hold the power button until the device says “Hello, Humanity.”

INSTALL MOBILE APP

  • Search For “K One” in the App Store (for Apple devices) or Google Play (for Android devices), then download and install the application.

CONTROL VIA APP

  • Ensure your mobile device’s Bluetooth is On.
  • Turn on the robot.
  • Open the device app, then tap the Connection Icon located on the top right-hand corner of the Main Page.
  • An icon with your robot’s unique serial number will appear. Example: “xxx-0000”. Tap on the “xxx-0000” icon.
  • Have fun controlling the robot via the app.

POWER OFF

  • Press and hold the power button until the robot says, “See you next time, Humanity”.
  • If connected via the App, tap the connection icon located on the top-right corner of the Main Page. Tap the“Shutdown K1” icon.

CONTROL VIA VOICE

Turn on the robot.

  • Say “Hey, K One” to enter Voice Control mode. The robot will respond, “I’m here.”
  • See the Voice Command Card for more preset voice commands;
    (NOTE: Voice control functions cannot be used while the robot is connected with the device app. Disconnect robot from the device app to use voice control.)

CHARGING

  • Connect one end of power supply adapter to the robot. Connect the other end of the power adapter to a power outlet.
  • The robot will say “Start to supply energy” and will start charging; The indicator light of the power adapter changes from red to green when the robot is fully charged.

STANDING UP AUTOMATICALLY

  • Sensors and an internal gyroscope detects the robot’s position and will automatically rotate the robot into an upright position if tilted.
  • The automatic standing feature can be enabled or disabled on the top-right corner of the Bluetooth Control page.

VOICE CONTROL

  • Check Voice Command Card via the app.
  • Use voice programming to make the robot perform a series of motions.
  • Control the robot through the app on the smart device.

ROBOT PROGRAMMING

  • Beginner Programming Mode ‒ Manual:
    Basic programming mode that anyone can easily get started with. The device’s movements
    can be edited by hand, recorded and combined into a series of actions.

  • Intermediate Programming Mode – Visual:
    Block-based visual programming is one of the most popular programming modes in the world. User can create and modify the robot’s actions via the graphical user interface to create a
    multitude of customized actions.

  • Advanced Programming Mode ‒ 3D:
    Robosen researched and developed a new type of programming model, which can easily adjust each joint of the robot in real-time.

  • Voice Programming Mode:
    Intelligent voice programming is an innovative programming mode allowing the robot to execute desired movements by inputting the user’s simple voice commands.

SPECIAL FUNCTION INSTRUCTION

VOICE PROGRAMMING (NOT BLUETOOTH CONNECTED)

  • Say “Hey K One” to device. Wait for the device to respond“I’m here”, say “Start programming”
    within 10 seconds, then enter Voice Programming Mode after the robot responds with
    “Programming Mode has been started.”

  • In the Voice Programming Mode, say a voice command phrase to the robot, such as “move forward” or
    “come back.” After saying the voice command, wait for the success prompt sound effect to indicate that the
    command phrase has been input successfully, and then continue to say the next command phrase to be executed.

  • Say “cancel” to the robot if you need to exit Voice Programming Mode.

  • After inputting a set of voice command words, you can say “executing” to initiate these commands, and the device will execute, in sequence, the motions you have programmed.

Note:
The device will automatically withdraw exit Voice Programming Mode if no commands are heard after 30 seconds. Voice command inputs have failed if you don’t hear the “success” sound effect after each command entry.

VISUAL VOICE PROGRAMMING (BLUETOOTH CONNECTED)

  • Open the device app and ensure that the robot has successfully connected with the app through Bluetooth on your mobile device, and then enter Programming Mode – Voice Programming;
  • Press and hold the“Microphone” icon in the voice programming interface to enter the Voice-Input Interface;
  • Then, in the Voice-Input Interface, sa“yStart programming” to the mobile device. After the system success-
  • fully recognizes th“eStart programming” command, you can release it. At this time, the “Start program- ming” command block you just entered is displayed on the screen, which means that you can start constructing the action sequence block program you want next;
  • Press and hold th“eMicrophone” icon again to enter the Voice-Input Interface, say a voice command word to the mobile device, such a“smove forward”, “come back” or “turn left”, etc. Release your hand to
  • complete the input. If the voice command word you just entered appears on the screen, it means that theinput is successful;
  • If the input is not successful, please try again;
  • You can input multiple action blocks according to the above method to form an interesting action program;
  • Finally, input“executing” in the Voice-Input Interface to let the robot execute the programmed action program;
  • In addition, you can say “Hey, K One” to the mobile device in the Voice-Input Interface, and the robot will answer “I’m here” after inputting the command.

SPECIAL FUNCTION INSTRUCTION

SHARE MOTIONS or CUSTOMIZED ACTIONS?

  • Enter into app-programming mode, and select one programming method for programming.

  • After the manual break programming or graphic programming is finished, you can then click the
    “Shooting” button on the programming interface and enter into the robot’s shooting function.  You can also click “Play” button during the shooting process to make the robot carry out your just finished programming commands.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Q: WHY IS THE ROBOT IS MALFUNCTIONING

  1. Turn off and restart the robot
  2. Ensure the robot is fully charged
  3. Check the website for video tutorials on troubleshooting issues

Q: WHY IS THE ROBOT UNRESPONSIVE WHEN I USE VOICE COMMAND

  1. Check the Bluetooth connection
  2. Ensure the robot is disconnected from the app
  3. Use the preset Voice Commands to control your robot.
  4. Ensure you are in a quiet setting with minimal background noise.

Q: WHY CAN’T K1 KEEP ITS BALANCE WHEN IT IS WALKING OR DOING OTHER ACTIONS

Ensure the robot is on a smooth flat surface. K1 will not function properly on an uneven or bumpy surface.

Q: THE ROBOT DOES NOT POWER ON

  1. Ensure the Robot is fully charged. Charge the Robot fully and power on
  2. Press and hold the power button until the T9 says“Hello Humanity.”

Q: APP CAN NOT CONNECT TO THE ROBOT

  1. Ensure the robot is fully charged and turned on
  2. ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smart phone/tablet
  3. ensure your device permissions are enabled for the robot on your device
  4. Ensure only one device is connected to the robot.; Disconnect the robot from any other smartphone/tablet you are not using.

Q: THE ROBOT STILL SHOWS LOW BATTERY AFTER CHARGING FOR ALONG TIME

Ensure both ends of the charging cable are properly plugged in.

Seizure, Blackouts and Eyestrain

A small percentage of people may be susceptible to blackouts or seizures (even if they have never had one before) when exposed to flashing lights or light patterns such as when playing games or watching video. If you have experienced seizures or blackouts or have a family history of such occurrences, you should consult a physician before playing video games or watching videos. Discontinue use of machine and your smart device controller and consult a physician if you experience headaches, blackouts, seizures, convulsion, eye or muscle twitching, loss of awareness, involuntary movement, or disorientation. To reduce risk of headaches, blackouts, seizures, and eyestrain, avoid prolonged use, hold your smart device controller some distance from your eyes, use machine in a well-lit room, and take frequent breaks.

Keeping Machine Within Acceptable Temperatures

Operate and store machine in a place where the temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low or high-temperature conditions might temporarily shorten battery life or cause machine to temporarily stop working properly. Avoid dramatic changes in temperature or humidity when using machine, as condensation may form on or within machine. Don’t leave machine in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range. When you’re using machine or charging the battery, it is normal for machine to get warm.

Maintenance and Use

Never

  • Abuse, throw, drop, puncture, violently kick or step on machine. Forcibly move the product or its parts. This can damage the robot and compromise its safe operation.
  • Operate machine on elevated surfaces (shelves, desks) where it can drop or fall. This can damage the robot and compromise its safe operation.

Always

  • Keep machine in sight at all times when operating it to avoid injuries or damage to people, animals or property.
  • Ensure that no one is standing nearer than 1 yard (1 meter) from machine when in operation and that you keep a safe distance between the product and people, animals and property.
  • Use the machine on smooth and flat surfaces.
  • Periodically examine machine for potential hazards such as cracked, damaged or otherwise broken parts. In the event of such damage, do not use machine until it can be replaced or repaired.

Battery Warning

  • Lithium ion cells and batteries are extremely hazardous and liable to cause serious injuries to persons or property. The user accepts liability for the use of a Lithium Polymer battery. As the manufacturer and the distributor cannot ensure the battery is used correctly (charging, discharging, storage, etc.), they cannot be held liable for damages caused to persons or property.
  • In the event of battery leakage, avoid the liquid coming into contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact with the skin, wash copiously with soap and water. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse copiously with cold water and consult a doctor. If you notice a suspicious smell or noise or observe smoke around the charger, disconnect it immediately.
  • Non-compliance with the instructions below could result in gas being given off, fire, electric shock or an explosion.

Charging

  • Examine the charger regularly for damage to the cord, plug, enclosure or other parts. The toy shall only be used with a transformer for toys. Never use a damaged charger or power adapter or third party charging accessories. Use only the supplied charging accessories provided. If misused, the charging system can cause electrical shock.
  • Never charge a leaky battery or one that has been damaged. Do not use the supplied charger/cables to charge any other device.
  • Do not charge the battery near inflammable flammable materials or on an inflammable a flammable surface (carpet, wooden flooring, or conducting surface. Do not leave machine unattended during charging
  • Never charge the device immediately after use while it is still hot. Let it cool down to room temperature.\
  • Batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
  • Do not cover your product or its charger while the battery is charging. Recharge the battery at a temperature of between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). The AC/DC adaptor is not a toy and should only be operated by adults.

Use and storage

  • Do not use machine if its cover has been broken and the battery’s plastic cover has been cracked or compromised in any way.
  • Do not expose the battery to excessive physical shock.
  • Do not expose machine and its battery to heat or dispose of a fire.
  • Do not put the battery in a microwave oven or in a pressurized container.
  • Do not attempt to dismantle, pierce, distort or cut the battery and do not attempt to repair the battery. Do not place any heavy objects on machine, the battery or charger.
  • Do not clean the charger with a solvent, denatured alcohol or other inflammable flammable solvents. When cleaning, be sure to unplug tadapter and charger.
  • It is essential to avoid short circuits. Avoid direct contact with the electrolyte contained within the battery. The electrolyte electrolysis vapors are harmful to health.
  • Do not subject machine and its battery to large temperature variations. Do not place your machine near a source of heat.
  • Disconnect the charger when you are not charging the battery.

Battery Disposal
Machine and its batteries put into your general household waste can be harmful to the environment. Damaged or unusable batteries must be disposed of in a container specially reserved for this purpose. When disposing of the battery, follow appropriate local guidelines and regulations. For further information contact your local solid waste authority.

Warranty

Limited Warranty to Original Purchaser:

  • This machine product, as supplied and distributed by Robosen Robotics Inc., and delivered new, in the original carton to the original customer purchaser, is warranteed by Robosen Robotics Inc. against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 1 year.
  • Robosen will repair or replace this product, at our option and at no charge with new or reconditioned parts, if found to be defective during the limited warranty period specified above.

Product Registration:

If a defect arises:

• Please contact us at supportusa@robosen.com to be provided with a Return Material Authorization Request (RMA) number.
• Provide this number with your package when shipping. We do not accept returns without the RMA number. The purchaser is responsible for all shipping costs.

Software License:
Use of machine is subject to the machine Software License Agreement.

Exclusions and Limitations:

This warranty covers the normal and intended use of the machine. It applies only to the hardware product “machine” manufactured by Robosen Robotics Inc. The Limited Warranty does not apply to any non-Robosen hardware product or any software, even if packagedor sold with the machine hardware product. Refer to the software license agreement accompanying the software for details of your rights with respect to its use. Robosen does not warrant that the operation of machine will be uninterrupted or error-free. Robosen is not responsible for damage arising from failure to follow instructions relating to the machine’s use.

This warranty does not apply to:

  • Consumable parts, such as batteries, or protective coatings designed to diminish over time unless failure has occurred due to a defectin materials or workmanship;
  • Damage caused by use with non-machine products;
  • Damage caused by accidents, misuse, abuse, neglect, misapplication, fire, water, lightning or other acts of nature; incorrect electrical line voltage, fluctuations or surges; damage caused by improper installation; product alteration or modification; improper or unauthorized repair; exterior finish or cosmetic damage;
  • Damage caused by operating machine outside the intended uses described by Robosen;
  • Defects caused by normal wear and tear or otherwise due to the normal aging of the machine product.

THERE ARE NO EXPRESS WARRANTIES OTHER THAN THOSE LISTED AND DESCRIBED ABOVE, AND NO WARRANTIES WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND WARRANTIES AGAINST HIDDEN OR LATENT DEFECTS, SHALL APPLY AFTER THE EXPRESS WARRANTY PERIOD STAT ABOVE, AND NO OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE GIVEN BY ANY PERSON, FIRM OR CORPORATION WITH RESPECT TO THIS PRODUCT SHALL BE BINDING ON ROBOSEN. Governing Law and Arbitration:

This Limited Warranty shall be governed by the laws of the State of California without giving effect to any conflict of laws principles that may provide the application of the law of another jurisdiction. Any claim or dispute in connection with this Limited Warranty shall be resolved in a cost-effective manner through binding non-appearance-based arbitration. The arbitration shall be initiated through an established alternative dispute resolution provider mutually agreed upon by the parties. The alternative dispute resolution provider and the parties must comply with the following rules:

  • The arbitration shall be conducted by telephone, online and/or be solely based on written submissions, the specific manner shall be chosen by the party initiating the arbitration;
  • The arbitration shall not involve any personal appearance by the parties or witnesses unless otherwise mutually agreed by the parties; and
  • Any judgment on the award rendered by the arbitrator may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
    If the foregoing arbitration clause does not apply for any reason, you agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the state courts located within LA County, California and the federal courts in Los Angeles, California for the purpose of litigating all such claims or disputes, which courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction of such claims or disputes.
