Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q : Can an iPad holder be fitted to main portion?
A: You can. That is how I use mine.

  • Q: What are the dimensions for the included carrying bag ; both inner and outer dimensions ?
A: A very soft cloth bag that measures 24” by 3” (round) and flattens when empty.

  • Q: Can you use this stand with a vintage mic?
A: I am not certain what vintage mic you speaking about, the big rectangular block type from the 30s-50s Era or the simple ball-end ones from the 60s, but depending on the kind of end clip you have, it should hold it!

  • Q: Can this hold a karaoke microphones
A: Yes, it is fine for karaoke mics. You may have to change the mic clip, however. That depends on the size of your mic. It needs to have a snug fit so it doesn’t slip out, but is still easily removed.

  • Q: what is the thread size of the ld micset 1 stand ?
A: Threads of mic stands usually come in a small size or a wider size. This one is the smaller size. (I don’t have a way of measuring it.)

  • Q: Is the pole removable to be used as a boom pole on a film set?
A: You could probably remove it, (the vertical), but I couldn’t remove mine, without possibly damaging it. Doubtful.

  • Q: What are the dimensions when fully compact?
A: Approximately 28 to 30 inches long and approx. 3.5 inches in diameter. Hope this helps.

  • Q: Will this work with a zoom h4n pro 4-track portable recorder?
A: I it has a female threaded end similar to a mic holder, then yes. If not, I’m sure there is a holder that you can but to set the recorder in.

  • Q: What is the total height? Is this a 5 ft mic stand, 6 ft mic stand, etc?
A: It is only about 4 feet tall. It is an articulated stand that seems to be for sitting and playing. I like it because I just play at home to entertain myself. Also the 3 legs are kinda long and can get in the way at times.

  • Q: Can the stand be used without the boom? Just a straight stand?
A: Yes it can be set up vertically. The boom will still be used for that. It will pivot to point straight up. I just pulled mine out of it’s bag and set it up that way.

  • Q: What is the thread size?
A: If I understand the question correctly, it is a pretty heavy thread about 3/16 to 1/4 inch. Hope this helps is is what you are asking for. These only screws together in approx. 3 spots and they appear to be the same size throughout.

  • Q: I am still confused about the maximum height is it 43” or 57” , want to know if it’s high enough for standing adult?
A: Yea it can be used by an adult standing. The main body is 43” but the boom can extend an additional 30”.

  • Q: Can the microphone holder be removed to screw on a cold shoe?
A: To do that I believe (but am not 100% confident) that you would need an adapter to get down to the diameter needed for the cold shoe.

  • Q: Can I use it with MXL 990?
A: Yes. Your MXL 990 Should have come with a mic clip. You can screw that onto the mic stand or you could get a shouck mount that is suzed for you microphone and screw that onto the mic stand to help isolate the mic from vibrations transmitted through the stand.

  • Q: Does the main neck of the stand expand at all?
A: Yes it does extend out all the way

  • Q: Does it work with the rode ntk microphone ?
A: No..unless you buy top piece to hold it.Stand is great but I wouldn’t recommend it for that mic.

A: Yes, be sure to buying a spider

  • Q: Has anyone used this to connect to a rode podmic?
A: It’s a mic stand. I use them for cordless mics which are heavier than most , so should be good for any type of mic.

  • Q: Will 3/16 or 5/16 thread work?
    A: Yes

  • Q: What size is it fully collapsed?
A: Pretty much the length of the bottom pole… It’s shorter than most.

  • Q: Does it work with the Audio technica AT2020?
