- Do not over fill fuel or oil, as this can cause a risk of fire
- Do not attempt to change the generator’s engine speed.
- Store matches and in ammable materials at a safe distance from the generator, as exhaust gases are very hot and may ignitesuch materials.
- The generator must be at least 1 metre from buildings and other objects when in use, to ensure adequate ventilation.
- Never use the generator in rain or snow or at ambient temperatures below -10°C or over 40° C.
- Never use the generator if there is insufficient ventilation.
- Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide, which is highly dangerous to humans and animals if inhaled.
- The generator should stand on a level surface.
- Do not touch the generator during and shortly after use. It may be very hot.
- The generator must be earthed to prevent electric shock. Connect a heavy-duty cable between the generator’s earth terminal and an external earth connection.
- Never connect to mains electricity. The load must be kept within the rating indicated on the generator rating plate.
- Do not connect electrical equipment to the generator before it is started, and note that most electrical devices require more watts than stated on the rating plate when starting.
- Only connect electrical equipment that is in a good condition.
- Do not use if the engine is running roughly or is defective.
- To prevent fluctuations that may damage the equipment, do not allow the engine to run out of fuel when electrical equipment is connected.
- Do not allow others to operate the generator without thorough instruction. Never allow children to use the generator.
- Never try to start a car engine or the like with a battery connected to the generator.
- Never start the generator without the air filter in place.
- Always follow the maintenance instructions in the section on cleaning and maintenance.
- Running-in
- Do not overload for the first 20 hours of operation and check the oil regularly. Change the oil when necessary.
Preparations before start
Remember to fill up with approximately 0.4 litres of engine oil (15W-40) before using the generator.
- Check the oil level as described under
- Checking the oil level.
- Check the petrol level. If necessary, top up with 4 litres of 95 octanes unleaded petrol.
- Check the fuel cap (2) is correctly closed after filling.
Starting and stopping the engine
- Starting the engine
- Set the main switch (3) to the ON position.
- If the engine is cold, turn the fuel valve (13) to the position with the choke symbol.
- If the engine is warm, turn the fuel valve (13) to the ON position.
- Gently pull the starter handle (12) until you feel resistance, and then pull it fully out hard to start the engine.
- Repeat if the engine fails to start rst time.
- Move the fuel valve (13) to the ON position once the engine is warm.
- Do not allow the starter handle to recoil onto the generator. Allow the cable to rewind slowly.
- Never pull the starter handle when the engine is running to avoid damage to the engine.|
- Stopping the engine
- Switch off or disconnect all electrical equipment before stopping the engine.
- Allow the generator to run unloaded for a few minutes before you stop the engine.
- Set the main switch (3) to the OFF position.
- Turn the fuel valve (13) to the OFF position.
Use
- Place the engine on its feet (10) on a flat, stable surface.
- Connect a heavy-duty cable between the generator’s earth terminal (9) and an external earth connection.
- Connect the equipment to be supplied with power to the power outlets (8), but do not turn the equipment on.
- Start the engine as described above and allow it to idle for approx. 3 minutes.
- Check the engine runs smoothly and that there are no abnormal sounds or vibrations.
- Stop the engine and have it checked by an authorised workshop if anything abnormal occurs.
- Switch on the connected devices one at a time, never simultaneously. Start the device that uses most power first.
- Never use floodlights with other types of electrical equipment.
- If a device is defective, runs too slowly or suddenly stops when connected to the generator, switch it off immediately.
- Check the connected device for defects.
- Note! Stay within the rated power limit of the generator as far as possible.
- If your power requirements are limited, switch on the ECO function using the ECO button (4). The engine will run at a lower speed, thus reducing the fuel consumption.
Overload protection
- If the generator is overloaded, a built-in overload protection will automatically switch the power outlets off and the overload warning light (6) will flash.
- If the engine stops, disconnect the connected equipment and start the engine again to reset the overload protection.
Oil level protection
- If the oil level in the generator falls below a certain level, the low oil level warning light (7) will come on. Shortly after a built-in oil level protection will automatically switch the engine off .
- This is a security measure to protect the generator. You must always check the oil level before each use!
Cleaning and maintenance
- Always switch off the engine and allow the generator to cool before undertaking any maintenance.
- Clean by wiping all surfaces with a damp cloth.
- Regularly lubricate all moving parts with lubricating oil and check for rust formation.
- Remove the side panel (14) by unscrewing the screws using the screwdriver (19) to get access to the engine, so you can perform the following maintenance tasks.
Checking the engine oil level
- Always check the engine oil level before use.
- Place the generator on a surface.
- Unscrew the oil plug and wipe the dipstick.
