How It Works

How Does IPL Work
Light based hair removal device is a Pulsed Light system which emits intense pulsed light (IPL) at a wavelength ranging from 510~1100nm. The device works on the principles of selective photothermolysis. That is, causing thermal damage to target chromophores by using light of appropriate wavelength in pulses that exceeds the chromophores’ thermal relaxation time but sparing normal skin by limiting the pulse width below the thermal relaxation time for skin.

What To Expect

  • Immediately Post-Treatment
You should not see any significant side effects from treatment (Refer to section 5.2 for more information on side effects). In the first few weeks following initial treatments, you will still see some hair growing. These are likely to be hairs that were missed during treatment i.e. they were lying dormant and not in their growth phase (Anagen) during treatment; when IPL is most effective.

  • 6 weeks into the 12-week plan
You should see a reduction in hair growth. However, many hairs may still not have been treated in their growth phase. It is important to continue the weekly treatments.

  • After the 12-week plan
Immediately after you have completed the 12-week plan you should see a significant reduction in hairs within the treated area. Any remaining hairs should be finer and lighter in colour. Continued monthly treatments, or treatments as required, should keep your skin hair-free.

How To Use

Preparation
Light-based hair removal devices should ideally to be used on small areas such as underarms and facial hair below the chin line, large area such as the legs.

Patch Test
Before actual treatment, please refer to the Recommended SKIN TONE Table (Section 4.2). Conduct a skin test on a small area HOW TO TEST

  • Choose a small area on the arm. Use the LOW treatment level and follow the treatment instructions as required by the Recommended SKIN TONE Table but make sure to emit only 1~2 shots. Only if you feel comfortable, you can continue to reach the higher levels or the maximum. Stop the test once you do not feel comfortable, as increasing the level increases the risk of adverse effects. If there are any signs of swelling, burn mark, change in hair follicle, pain, or other unsuitable symptoms, please do not use this device until a thorough consultation a physician.
  • If there is no skin abnormality after 24 hours, but you feel intense hotness during the treatment, then the last lower level is the most proper energy for your skin.

Recommended SKIN TONE
Various, but not recommended for dark skin, like the black skin. WE RECOMMEND you choose your skin tone based on the Fitzpatrick Prototyping Scale which was developed by Harvard Medical School dermatologist, Thomas Fitzpatrick, M.D., PhD to classy a person’s complexion and their tolerance of sunlight. The Scale includes six levels of skin tone. Please IDENTIFY your skin tone and check the following diagram to see whether the product is applicable.

Recommended SKIN TONE Table
