Important Safety Precautions

Please note: Alto Professional and inMusic are not responsible for the use of its products or the
misuse of this information for any purpose. Alto Professional and in Music are not responsible for the misuse of its products caused by avoiding compliance with inspection and maintenance procedures. Please refer to the included safety and warranty manual for more information.

Caution: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not connect a TS4 loudspeaker to a power outlet while the grille is removed.

Danger: Mounting or overhead suspension of any heavy load can result in serious injury and
equipment damage. This work should be done by qualified persons following safe mounting or
suspension practices in accordance with all applicable safety and construction standards. Such
persons must determine the required load ratings and design factors. They must determine the
mounting or suspension method that meets static, dynamic, shock, and any other load requirements. All such work must be done in accordance with and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing such work.

Preparation
Before placing, installing, mounting, or suspending any speaker product, inspect all hardware,
suspension, cabinets, transducers, brackets and associated equipment for damage. Any missing,
corroded, deformed, or non-load rated component could significantly reduce the strength of the
installation or placement. The above conditions and others like it severely reduce the safety of the installation and should be immediately corrected. Use only hardware which is rated for the loading conditions of the installation and any possible short-term, unexpected overloading. Ensure that all local, state and national regulations regarding the safety and operation of loudspeakers and related equipment are understood and followed, paying special attention to applicable electrical and building codes.

Stand-Mounting

  • Always install loudspeakers in accordance with applicable electrical and building codes.
  • Install the loudspeaker according to its maximum weight. Check the specifications of your stand or pole to ensure it can support the loudspeaker’s weight. Also, observe all safety precautions specified by the manufacturer.
  • Do not mount multiple loudspeakers on the same stand or pole.
  • Always verify that the stand or pole is on a flat, level, and stable surface.
  • Inspect the stand (or pole and associated hardware) before each use and do not use equipment with worn, damaged, or missing parts.
  • Always be cautious in windy, outdoor conditions.
  • Unless you are confident that you can handle the loudspeaker’s weight, ask another person to help you lift it onto the stand or pole.
  • Make sure your cables are out of the way of performers, production crew, and audience.

Fixed Mounting
Note: Fixed mounting refers to installations that include permanent or semi- permanent mounting and suspension as well as the hardware used for such mounting and suspension.

The fixed mounting of a loudspeaker requires determining that the methods, hardware, and structure meet static, shock, dynamic, and any other load requirements for supporting the loudspeaker.

The fixed mounting of loudspeakers may be done with Alto Professional accessories or with loadrated hardware available from a variety of third-party sources. Because of the hazardous nature of such work, as well as the potential legal liability, engage with people or companies that specialize in manufacturing hardware, designing installations, and installing fixed mounting systems whenever possible.

Sound Level
Permanent hearing loss may be caused by exposure to extremely high noise levels. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has specified permissible exposures to certain noise levels. According to OSHA, exposure to high sound pressure levels (SPL) in excess of these limits may result in hearing loss.

When using equipment capable of generating high SPL, use hearing protection while such equipment is under operation.

Examples

Items not listed under Introduction > Box Contents are sold separately.

Note: These examples show the rear panel used by the TS410, TS412, and TS415 models, though all four models in the TS4 Series have the same input and output.

Example A: One Loudspeaker
Connect a dynamic microphone to the Input 1 using an XLR or 1/4” (6.35 mm) TRS cable. Connect a guitar with an active pickup to the Input 2 using a 1/4” (6.35 mm) TS or TRS cable (see your guitar’s documentation for cable requirements).

FIG 2 One Loudspeaker.JPG
Note: When using the TS4 Series loudspeaker with a guitar, we recommend using one with active pickups rather than passive pickups. If you use a guitar with passive pickups, connect it to an external preamp or direct input (DI) box, and connect the line-level output to the loudspeaker.

Also, use dynamic microphones with the TS4 Series loudspeaker rather than condenser microphones. If you use a microphone that requires +48V of phantom power, connect it to an external phantom power supply before connecting it to the loudspeaker.

Example B: Two Loudspeakers
Connect the left and right output of your DJ mixer, controller, etc. to Input 1 on the two loudspeakers using XLR or 1/4” (6.35 mm) TRS cables.

FIG 3 Two Loudspeakers.JPG

Example C: Two Stereo-Linked Loudspeakers + Two Extensions
Connect each of your mixer’s main outputs to Input 1 on the Primary and Secondary loudspeakers. Connect the Mix Output from the left Primary loudspeaker and right Secondary loudspeaker to the extension loudspeakers. Stereo-Link the Primary and Secondary speakers together. The Primary/Secondary assignment is dependent on which speaker is connected to the Bluetooth device. The Stereo-Link will only pass the Bluetooth audio.

FIG 16 Safety Notices.JPG

NOTICE CONCERNING FCC REGULATIONS: You are cautioned that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the part responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference
to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: (a) reorient or relocate the receiving antenna; (b) move this unit; (c) increase the separation between the equipment and receiver; (d) connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected; (e) be sure that all cables are properly shielded, using a choke or ferrite where appropriate; or (f) consult the dealer or an experienced radio/television technician for help. This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20 cm between the radiator and your body.

RF Warning Statement: The device has been evaluated to meet general RF exposure requirement. The device can be used in portable exposure condition without restriction. Avoid using this device in a high RF-radiated environment.

For Canadian models: This device contains licence-exempt transmitter(s)/receiver(s) that comply with Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada’s licence-exempt RSS(s). Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device. Under ISED regulations, this radio transmitter may only operate using an antenna of a type and maximum (or lesser) gain approved for the transmitter by ISED. To reduce potential radio interference to other users, the antenna type and its gain should be so chosen that the equivalent isotropically radiated power (e.i.r.p.) is not more than that necessary for successful communication. This radio transmitter (identify the device by certification number, or model number if Category II) has been approved by ISED to operate with the antenna types listed below with the maximum permissible gain and required antenna impedance for each antenna type indicated. Antenna types not included in this list, having a gain greater than the maximum gain indicated for that type, are strictly prohibited for use with this device. This unit does not exceed the Class B limits for radio noise emission from digital apparatus set out in the radio interference regulations of the Canadian Department of Communications. This device operates on a no- protection, no-interference basis. Should the user seek to obtain protection from other radio services operating in the same TV bands, a radio licence is required. ESD/EFT Warning: This unit may contain a microcomputer for signal processing and control functions. In very rare situations, severe interference, noise from an external source, or static electricity may cause it to lock up. In the unlikely event that this should happen, turn off the unit, wait at least five seconds, and then turn it back on again. The pins of connectors identified with this ESD warning symbol should not be touched.

Correct Disposal of This Product: This marking indicates that this product should not be disposed with other household wastes throughout the EU. To prevent possible harm to the environment or human health from uncontrolled waste disposal, recycle it responsibly to promote the sustainable reuse of material resources. To return your used device, please use the return and collection systems or contact the retailer where the product was purchased. They can take this product for environmentally safe recycling.

If apparatus contains a coin/button-cell battery: Warning: Do not ingest the battery—chemical burn hazard. The remote control supplied with this product contains a coin/button-cell battery. If the coin/buttoncell battery is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death. Keep new and used batteries away from children. Tell others about the risk associated with button batteries and how to keep their children safe. If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children. If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention. Dispose of used button batteries immediately and safely. Flat batteries can still be dangerous.

Disposal of Batteries (if applicable): Never dispose of any types of batteries in fire or near excessive heat or direct sunlight. Overheated batteries can rupture or explode. If you are unsure of how or where to dispose of a battery, refer to your local ordinances for the proper location, method, etc.

Alkaline batteries & lithium button cell batteries: You can safely dispose of alkaline and lithium button cell batteries with normal household waste. They do not pose a health or environmental risk during normal use or disposal. (Alkaline batteries are composed primarily of common metals like steel, zinc, and manganese.) Do not dispose of large amounts of alkaline or lithium button cell batteries in a group. Used batteries are often not completely “dead.” Grouping them together can bring these “live” batteries into contact with one another, creating safety risks. To avoid this, insulate each battery with tape or other non-conductive material to ensure it does not discharge. Proven cost-effective and environmentally safe recycling processes are not yet universally available for alkaline and lithium button cell batteries. Some communities offer recycling or collection of these batteries. For more information, refer to your local ordinances or contact your local government.

Lead-acid batteries: Dispose of lead-acid batteries by bringing them to an electronic waste center or recycling center, or dispose of them in accordance with your local ordinances. (Rechargeable lead-acid batteries are the same type used in automobiles and should be disposed of in a similar fashion.)
