IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

WARNING: To reduce risk of injury and property damage, you must read this entire guide before assembling and operating this air fryer. Always follow basic safety precautions when using the air fryer.

Key Safety Points

  • Do NOT touch hot surfaces. After use, the fry basket and outer basket may be hot. Use the handle.
  • Only press the release button with the baskets resting flat on a counter (or any level, heat-resistant surface). The handle is attached to the fry basket, not the outer basket. When you press the release button, the outer basket will drop.
  • Do NOT block any ventilation openings. Hot steam is released through the air outlets. Keep your hands and face clear of all openings.KOBI-AFM35LBLK-3-7-Quart -3-5-Liter\)-Air-Fryer-3

General Safety
Please read all instructions before using. When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  • Do NOT immerse the air fryer plug or housing in water or other liquid. This will create a risk of electrical shock.
  • Closely supervise children near the air fryer.
  • Turn off, unplug, and allow the air fryer to cool before cleaning, maintenance, moving, and when not in use.
  • Do NOT clean with metal scouring pads. Metal fragments can break off the pad and touch electrical parts, creating a risk of electric shock.
  • Do NOT use the air fryer if it is damaged or not working, or if the cord or plug is damaged. Contact the nearest authorized service facility for examination or repair.
  • Do NOT use third-party replacement parts or accessories, as this may cause injuries and/or damage.
  • Do NOT place the air fryer on a stove, near gas or electric burners, or in a heated oven.
  • Do NOT place anything on top of the air fryer, thus blocking the air intake.
  • Do NOT store anything inside the air fryer.
  • The air fryer is designed for household use and may not be safe for commercial use.
  • Only use the air fryer as directed in this manual.

Operation Safety

  • Do NOT use outdoors.
  • For household use only. Not for commercial use.
  • The air fryer works with hot air only and is not for deep frying. Never fill baskets with oil or fat, as this may cause a fire hazard.
  • Never use without the baskets in place.
  • Use extreme caution when removing the baskets (or moving the air fryer), as the baskets may contain hot grease or other hot liquids. Use caution when disposing of hot grease or other hot liquids.
  •  Use caution when touching the heating elements after use, as residual heat may be present.
  •  Do NOT place oversized foods or metal utensils into the air fryer.
  • Do NOT place paper, cardboard, non-heat resistant plastic, or similar materials into the air fryer. You may use parchment paper or foil.
  • Never put baking or parchment paper into the air fryer without food on top. Air circulation can cause the parchment paper to lift and touch the heating coils.
  • Always place the ingredients to be fried in the fry basket to prevent it from coming into contact with the heating elements.
  • Keep the air fryer away from flammable materials (curtains, tablecloth, etc).
  • Use on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from heat sources or liquids.
  • Immediately unplug the air fryer if you see dark smoke coming out. This indicates that food is burning. Wait for the smoke to clear before pulling the baskets out.
  • Do NOT leave the air fryer unattended while in use.

Plug and Cord Safety

  • Always turn the timer knob to the Off position before removing the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Do NOT alter the power cord in any way. The power cord has a polarized plug (one prong is wider than the other), which fits into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, do NOT use the plug in that outlet.
  • Do NOT use an extension cord if the marked electrical rating of the cord is less than that of the appliance.
  • Do NOT let the power cord (or any extension cord) hang over the edge of a table or counter, or allow it to touch hot surfaces.
  • Never connect the air fryer to an external timer switch or separate remote-control system. This could create a risk of a hazardous situation.
  • A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
  • Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
  • If an extension cord is used:
  • The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as electrical rating of the appliance.

USING THE AIR FRYER

Before First Use
Before using the air fryer for the first time:

  1.  Remove all packaging from the air fryer, including any temporary labels and stickers.
  2.  Wash the fry basket and outer basket with warm, soapy water. Wipe the inside and outside of the fryer with a clean, moist cloth. (See “Cleaning and Storage” on page 10 for details.) Dry with a towel. Slide the baskets into the air fryer until the baskets click into place.
  3.  It is recommended before first use to heat the air fryer at 400 °F (204 °C) for 10 minutes with the baskets inserted and empty. (See “Preheating” on page 8 for instructions.)

Preparing for Use

  1.  Make sure the air fryer and the baskets are clean and dry. (See “Cleaning and Storage” on page 10 for details.)
  2.  Place the air fryer on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface, away from areas that can be damaged by steam (such as walls or cupboards).
  3.  Leave 5 in. (13 cm) of space behind and above the air fryer. Leave enough room to remove the baskets.

Preheating
We recommend preheating the air fryer 3–5 minutes before placing food into the fry basket. Food may not cook thoroughly without preheating. To preheat:

  1.  Place the fry basket (3) into the outer basket (6) and slide the baskets into the cooking unit until they click into place.
NOTE: The air fryer will not work unless the baskets are inserted properly.KOBI-AFM35LBLK-3-7-Quart -3-5-Liter\)-Air-

  2.  Plug the power cord into a 120 V, dedicated outlet.

  3.  Turn the Temp knob to 400 °F (204 °C).

  4.  Turn the Timer knob to between 3 and 5 minutes.

Air Frying

  • CAUTION: Do NOT use the outer basket without the fry basket inserted.
  • CAUTION: Do NOT touch hot surfaces.
  • CAUTION: Do NOT press the release button while carrying the baskets. The outer basket will drop. Handle the baskets with care.
  • CAUTION: Watch for hot oil or fat collected in the outer basket during cooking.
  1.  Once the air fryer has preheated, carefully remove the baskets using the basket handle. If you feel resistance, hold the top of the unit with one hand and gently pull the baskets out with the other hand.

  2.  Place the food to be cooked in the fry basket. (See “Cooking Guide” on page 10 for tips.) 3. Turn the Temp knob to the desired cooking temperature.

  3.  Turn the Timer knob to the desired cooking time.

  4.  Slide the baskets back into the cooking unit until you hear a “click”.
NOTE: The air fryer will not work unless the baskets are inserted properly. The air fryer starts the cooking process.

  5.  It is recommended to shake the basket contents halfway through the set cooking time.KOBI-AFM35LBLK-3-7-Quart -3-5-Liter\)-Air-Fryer-9

    • a. Take the baskets out of the air fryer, being careful of hot steam. The air fryer pauses the cooking cycle when the baskets are removed.
    • b. Carefully shake or flip the food. (See “Shaking Food” below for details.) Be careful not to press the release button on the baskets.
  6.  Put the baskets back into the air fryer to continue cooking. When the unit “dings”, cooking time is complete.

  7.  Unplug the air fryer.

  8.  Take the baskets out of the air fryer, being careful of hot steam.

  9.  Place the baskets on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface.

  10.  Press the release button to separate the fry basket from the outer basket.

  11.  Carefully remove the cooked food.

Shaking Food
Shake the food in the fry basket halfway through cooking.

  • Avoid shaking longer than 30 seconds, as the air fryer may start to cool down.
  • Without shaking, foods may not be crispy or evenly cooked.
  • Small foods that are stacked will usually need shaking, such as fries or nuggets.
  • You can flip other foods, such as steak, to ensure even browning.
Cooking Guide

Overfilling

  • If the basket is overfilled, food will cook unevenly.

Using Oil

  • Adding a small amount of oil to your food will make it crispier. Use no more than 2 tablespoons of oil.
  • Oil sprays are excellent for applying small amounts of oil evenly to all food items.

French Fries

  • Add ½ to 1 tablespoon oil for crispiness.
  • When making fries from raw potatoes, soak uncooked fries in water for 15 minutes to remove starch prior to frying. Pat dry with a towel before adding oil.
  • Cut uncooked fries smaller for crispier results.
  • Try cutting into 1/4 in. x 3 in. (0.6 cm x 7.6 cm) strips.

Food Tips

  • Foods that are smaller in size usually require a slightly shorter cooking time than larger size foods.
  • Large quantities of food may require a slightly longer cooking time than smaller quantities.
  • You can air fry any frozen foods or goods that can be baked in an oven.
  • To make cakes, hand pies, or any food with filling or batter, place food in a heat-safe container before placing in the fry basket.
  • Air frying high-fat foods will cause fat to drip to the bottom of the baskets. To avoid excess smoke while cooking, pour out fat drippings after cooking.
  • Liquid-marinated foods create splatter and excess smoke. Pat these foods dry before air frying.

CLEANING AND STORAGE

Always clean the air fryer after every use to prevent oil build up and burning. Store the air fryer when not in use.
Cleaning

  1.  Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2.  Wipe the outside of the air fryer with a soft, moist cloth. Make sure the cloth is not too wet so that water does not enter the air fryer.
  3.  Wash the fry basket and outer basket with hot, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. Soak if necessary.
  4.  Clean the inside of the air fryer (including the heating coil) with a slightly moist, non- abrasive sponge or cloth. Do NOT immerse in water.
  5. Dry before using. Make sure the heating coil is dry before turning on the air fryer.

Storage
To store the air fryer:

  1.  Unplug the air fryer and allow the air fryer to cool completely.
  2.  Make sure all parts are clean and dry. Never store the air fryer while it is hot or wet.
  3.  Wrap the power cord around the power cord organizer.
  4.  Store the air fryer in its box or in a clean, dry place.
