Important Safeguards

READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USING AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

  • FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. DO NOT USE THIS APPLIANCE FOR ITS INTENDED USE.
  • Remove all packaging materials before first use.
  • DO NOT drape the cord over a counter or tabletop where it can be pulled on or tripped over. DO NOT wrap the cord tightly around the appliance, as this could cause the cord to fray or break. DO NOT cover the cord with a rug.
  • We DO NOT recommend using an extension cord with this appliance. However, if an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating should be at least as great as the electrical rating of this appliance.

  • Turn off and unplug this appliance when not in use.
  • THERE ARE NO SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE THIS APPLIANCE.

Electrical Safety

This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug in which 1 prong is wider than the other. This is a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock. The plug will fit into a polarized outlet only 1 way. If you are unable to insert the plug into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt to modify the plug in any way. Montgomery Ward cannot accept any liability for damage or injury resulting from failure to observe these safety procedures.

How to Use

  1. Make sure the vacuum control dial is OFF. Plug the cord into an electrical outlet.
  2. Turn the control dial to MAN for manual operation:
    • a. The power indicator light will illuminate.
    • b. Sweep debris toward the inlet at the base of the unit and press the manual activation button with your toe or broom to initiate vacuuming.
    • c. Manual mode will run for 5 seconds. Depending on the amount of debris, it may be necessary to press the manual activation button more than once.
  3. Turn the control dial to AUTO for automated operation:
    • a. The power indicator light will illuminate.
    • b. Sweep debris toward the inlet at the base of the unit. Sensors will detect the debris and automatically initiate vacuuming.
    • c. Vacuuming will cease once the sensors no longer detect debris.
    • NOTE: A “pile” of debris is needed for the sensors to properly activate.
  4. Remember to empty the dust bin often for optimum suction performance. The dust bin indicator light will let you know when the dust bin is full.
    • a. To empty the dust bin, turn the control dial to OFF and unplug the unit.
    • b. Pull the dust bin outward from the vacuum housing. Grasp the bin firmly and lift it out of the unit.
    • c. Hold the dust bin with one arm and use the opposite hand to grab the dust bin cover handle. Set the dust bin cover aside and empty debris into a trash receptacle..
    • d. Replace the dust bin cover and reassemble the dust bin in the housing (there are 2 grooves in the bottom of the bin that fit easily over a rod in the front of the unit housing).

Cleaning & Care

  1. ALWAYS turn off and unplug the appliance before cleaning!
  2. Always allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning.
  3. Clean the filters regularly and whenever suction is not strong:

Dirt filter

  • a. Remove the dust bin and use the dust bin cover handle to lift out the filter.
  • b. Turn the filter counterclockwise to release it.
  • c. Pull the filter out and tap it gently against a trash container to loosen dirt.
  • d. Rinse the filter under running water until it’s clean.
  • e. Let the filter air dry thoroughly before putting it back in place.
  • f. Never operate this vacuum without the dirt filter properly in place!

Micro-exhaust filter

  • a.. Slide the micro-exhaust filter holder up and out of the housing.
  • b. Gently pull the filter out of the filter holder.
  • c. Tap filter gently against a trash container to loosen dirt.
  • d. Wash the filter in mild soap and water. Rinse and air dry thoroughly . before replacing.
  • e. Never operate this vacuum without the micro-exhaust filter properly in place!
  1. Wash the bin in warm water using a mild soap. Avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners. Rinse thoroughly and air dry before putting the bin back in place.
  2. Clean sensors, dirt inlet area and dust bin cavity with a damp cloth.
  3. Wipe the exterior housing with a damp cloth.
  4. DO NOT immerse any electrical appliance, cord or plug into water.
  5. Ensure all parts are dried thoroughly before reassembling and using this appliance.

Troubleshooting
