INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE, COFFEE MAKER
BEFORE FIRST USE
Check that all the accessories are included and intact. Fill the tank with water to the maximum level and run several brewing cycles without using coffee grounds. Pour the water away and clean all removable parts with hot water.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE, COFFEE MAKER
-
Open the water tank lid and fill the tank with clean drinking water (make sure the water does not exceed the maximum level marked on the inside of the tank).
-
Place the included reusable coffee filter (or an ordinary filter paper) inside the filter basket, making sure it is positioned correctly.
-
Put coffee grounds into the filter (one level spoonful per cup of coffee is usually sufficient). Close the water tank lid.
-
Stand the carafe on the warming plate.
-
Connect the mains plug to the wall socket. The display window will show 12:00 and ( : ) will flash.
-
Press the start button (ON/OFF) (the brewing indicator will light up red). A brewing cycle will start.
-
You can interrupt the brewing at any time during the cycle by pressing the start button (ON/OFF) twice (the brewing indicator light will go out and RUN will appear in the display window). Press the start button (ON/OFF) to restart the brewing cycle.
Note: You can remove the carafe at any time during the brewing cycle (the unit will stop brewing automatically). You must replace the carafe within 30 seconds. -
When the brewing cycle is completed, you can remove the carafe and serve the coffee.
Note: The amount of brewed coffee will be slightly less than the amount of water you used since the coffee grounds absorb some of the water). -
You can leave the coffee standing on the warming plate for up to 40 minutes (longer is not recommended). The coffee tastes best when served freshly brewed.
-
Switch off the coffee maker and disconnect the main lead from the wall socket if the unit will not be used for a long time.
AUTOMATIC START
If you want the coffee maker to start at a specific time (for instance if the time is currently 17:10 and you want the coffee to start brewing automatically at 20:15), follow the instructions in steps 1 to 5. After that, set the unit to start automatically as follows:

-
Set the automatic start time by pressing the HOUR and MIN button (i.e. 20:15 in this example, see fig. 2).

MEMORY
If the power supply cuts out or the mains lead is accidentally disconnected during operation, the unit will resume the cycle from the point when the power cut out (provided the power is reactivated within 15 seconds) without the need to press any buttons. If the power is interrupted for more than 15 seconds, the display window will show the standard setting, which means the unit must be restarted.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
CAUTION! Ensure that the unit is disconnected at the mains before cleaning. Do not immerse the lead or plug in water or any other liquid (risk of electric shock).
- Clean all removable parts with warm water and dishwashing liquid after every use.
- Wipe the outside of the unit clean with a soft, damp cloth.
- Drops of water may form around the funnel and drip onto the unit’s casing during brewing. Wipe this water off the unit with a clean, dry cloth after every use.
- The filter basket and reusable coffee filter are dishwasher-proof up to 60 °C
- Gently wipe the warming plate clean with a damp cloth (do not use abrasive cleaners or cleaning accessories).
- Replace all the parts and store the unit until the next use.
REMOVING LIMESCALE
In order for the coffee maker to function optimally, limescale deposits must be removed regularly (the frequency depends on the hardness of the water and how often the unit is used). See the information below:
- Pour water and descaler into the water tank up to the maximum level). Use a descaler specifically for coffee makers, available from many well-stocked supermarkets.
- Stand the carafe on the warming plate.
- Press the ON/OFF button once (the BREW indicator will light up red). The water will soon start dripping.
- When about one cup of water has run through, switch off the unit by pressing the ON/OFF button again (the BREW indicator will go out).
- Leave the unit switched off for 15 minutes, then repeat steps 3–5.
- Start the unit by pressing the ON/OFF button once and allow all the water in the tank to run through.
- Rinse the unit by running at least three brewing cycles using only clean water (without coffee grounds).
BREWING TIPS
- To make good coffee, the coffee maker must be clean. Clean the coffee maker regularly according to the instructions in “Cleaning and maintenance”. Always use cold drinking water in the coffee maker.
- Store the pack of coffee in a cool, dark place.
- For optimum taste, grind the coffee beans immediately before brewing.
- Never use the coffee grounds more than once.
- If oil from the coffee grounds collects on the coffee maker, clean the oil off. Small drops of oil from the coffee grounds may appear on top of the freshly brewed coffee. Dark roast coffee contains more oil.
