BEFORE FIRST USE

Check that all accessories are complete and the unit is not damaged. Pour water into the water tank up to the max level and brew water several times without ground coffee, then discard the water. Clean all detachable parts thoroughly with warm water.

MAKING DRIP COFFEE
  1. Open the water tank lid and fill the water tank with cold drinking water. The water level should not exceed the MAX level as indicated on the water gauge.
  2. Place the funnel into the funnel support and make sure the funnel is fitted correctly, then place the filter paper, or the supplied nylon filter, in the funnel.
  3. Add ground coffee powder to the filter paper or the nylon filter. Usually, a cup of coffee requires a level tablespoon of ground coffee, but you may adjust according to personal taste.
  4. Place the stainless steel jug on the warm plate so that it is level.
  5. Plug the power cord into the outlet. The LCD will display “12:00” and the colon will flash, but only some of the buttons will light up.
  6. Press the ON/OFF button, the red RUN indicator will light up. The appliance will begin working.
  7. The brewing process can be interrupted by pressing the ON/OFF button once at any time, the red RUN indicator will be extinguished. The appliance will continue brewing when ON/OFF is pressed again.
  8. Note: You can take out the jug, pour and serve at any time. The appliance will stop dripping automatically. But the time cannot exceed 30 seconds.
  9. Remove the jug to serve when brewing is finished (about one minute after the coffee stops dripping out).
  10. Note: the volume of coffee you get will be less than the volume of water you added, as some water is absorbed by the coffee grounds.
  11. Always turn the coffee maker off and unplug it from the power outlet when not in use.

Note: take care when pouring hot coffee, as freshly brewed coffee is very hot.

AUTOMATIC START FUNCTION

If you want the coffee maker to start making coffee at a specific time, for example, if it is 5:10 pm and you want the coffee maker to turn on automatically at 8:15 in the evening, follow steps 1 to 5 below to set the automatic start function:

  1. Set the correct time by pressing the MINUTE and HOUR buttons. Note that the display does not have a 24-hour clock but shows PM and AM.
  2. Press the PROG button once. The digits in the display and a green LED on the left will now start to blink.
  3. Set the time for a delayed start with the MINUTE and HOUR buttons, making sure the timer is correctly set for AM or PM.
  4. Press the PROG button once briefly to store the delayed time.
  5. Press the PROG button for 3 seconds. The green LED on the left turns on to indicate that a delayed start has been activated.

Note:
You can cancel the automatic start function by pressing the PROG button once; the green indicator will turn off to indicate that the automatic start is no longer active. If you want to change the automatic start time, just follow the steps above again.

When the set time is reached, the AUTO indicator will go out, the RUN indicator will turn on and the coffee maker will start brewing. Power to the appliance will be cut off automatically after two hours if it has not been manually disconnected after the completion of brewing.

CLEANING AND CARE

CAUTION:
Be sure to unplug the appliance before cleaning. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse the power cord, plug or appliance in water or liquid. After use, always make sure to unplug the appliance from the wall outlet.

  1. Clean all detachable parts after use in hot, sudsy water.
  2. Wipe the exterior surface of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth to remove stains.
  3. Water droplets may build up in the area above the funnel and drip onto the product base during brewing. To control the drip-ping, wipe off the area with a clean, dry cloth after each use of the product.
  4. Never use abrasive cleaner to clean it.
  5. Refit all the parts and set them aside for use next time.

REMOVING MINERAL DEPOSITS

To keep your coffee maker operating efficiently, you should regularly clean off any mineral deposits left by water, depending on the water quality in your area and how often you use the appliance. Clean the appliance as follows:

  1. Fill the water tank up to the MAX level with a mixture of water and descaler in the ratio 4 to 1. (Use “household descaler”, and refer to the instructions on the packet of descaler. You can also use citric acid instead of descaler.)
  2. Place the jug on the base, making sure that the center of the jug is in line with the center of the funnel.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button once and the RUN indicator will light up. After a while, water will drip out automatically.
  4. After brewing the equivalent of one cup, switch off the appliance by pressing the ON/OFF button once. The red RUN indicator will go out.
  5. Leave the solution to soak for 15 minutes, then repeat steps 3–5 again.
  6. Turn the appliance on by pressing the ON/OFF button once and run off the water until the water tank is completely empty.
  7. Rinse by operating the appliance with water alone at least 3 times.

HINTS FOR GREAT-TASTING COFFEE

  1. A clean coffee maker is essential for making great-tasting coffee. Regularly clean the coffee maker as specified in the “CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE” section. Always use fresh, cold water in the coffee maker.
  2. Store unused ground coffee in a cool, dry place. After opening a package of ground coffee, reseal it tightly and store it in a refrigerator to maintain its freshness.
  3. For the best coffee flavour, buy whole coffee beans and finely grind them just before brewing.
  4. Do not reuse ground coffee as this will greatly reduce the coffee flavour. Reheating coffee is not recommended as coffee is at its peak flavour immediately after brewing.
  5. Clean the coffee maker when over-extraction causes oiliness. Small oil droplets on the surface of brewed black coffee are due to the extraction of oil from the ground coffee.
  6. Oiliness may occur more frequently if heavily roasted coffees are used.
