(Above illustration is only for reference. The actual configuration will depend on your particular product or statement by the distributor.)

USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

  • Before starting for the first time, let the refrigerator stand still for two hours before connecting it to the power supply.
  • Before adding any fresh or frozen food, leave the refrigerator to run for 2 to 3 hours, or more than 4 hours in summer when the ambient temperature is high.
  •  Make sure there is enough clear space around the refrigerator so that you can open the doors and drawers easily.

  ENERGY-SAVING TIPS

  •  The appliance should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat-producing appliances or heating ducts, and out of direct sunlight.
  • Let hot food cool to room temperature before placing it in the appliance. Overloading the refrigerator forces the compressor to run for longer. Food that is cooled too slowly may lose quality, or spoil.
  • Be sure to wrap food properly, and wipe containers dry before placing them in the appliance. This cuts down on frost build-up inside the appliance.
  • Appliance storage containers should not be lined with aluminium foil, wax paper, or paper towelling. Liners interfere with cold air circulation, making the appliance less efficient.
  • Organize and label food to reduce the time that the door is left open. Remove all the items you need at one time, and close the door as soon as possible.

LAYOUT AND CONTROLS

KEY COMPONENTS

Elvita CKF2853V Refrigerator-fig 7 (The illustration above is only for reference. The actual configuration will depend on your particular product or statement by the distributor.)
Refrigerating compartment

  •  The refrigerating compartment is suitable for storing a variety of fruits, vegetables, beverages and other food for consumption in the short term. Suggested storage time 3 to 5 days. The most energy-efficient position to place food is as shown in the illustration above.
  • Cooked food should not be placed in the refrigerating compartment until it has cooled to room temperature.
  • It is recommended that food is sealed before placing it in the refrigerator.
  • The glass shelves can be adjusted up or down to provide the storage space that suits your needs.

Note: If you place too much food in the refrigerator when you turn it on initially it will take longer to cool down.

Freezer compartment
The freezer compartment is intended for storing frozen food and for home freezing. To freeze food successfully it must be packaged correctly. Store food in a way that ensures it is airtight and watertight. Otherwise the odour and taste may spread throughout the refrigerator and frozen food may dry out.

NOTE: Never put bottles of food or drink in the freezer compartment. To achieve the best results, leave enough free space in the freezer compartment and refrigerator compartment to allow air to circulate around the packs of food. Leave enough free space to allow the door to be closed securely.

CONTROLS

(The illustration above is only for reference. The actual configuration will depend on your particular product or statement by the distributor.)
The numbers do not indicate specific temperatures, but temperature levels.
“1” is the warmest setting
“6” is the coldest setting
The higher the number, the lower the actual temperature inside the refrigerator.
“OFF” indicates that the refrigerator is turned off.

  • Recommended setting: 3

MAINTENANCE AND CARE OF REFRIGERATOR

GENERAL CLEANING

  • Dust should be removed regularly from behind and beneath the refrigerator to improve the cooling effect and save energy.
  • Check the door gasket regularly to make sure there is no debris. Clean the door gasket with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water or diluted detergent.
  •  The interior of the refrigerator should be cleaned regularly to avoid odour.
  • Turn off the power before cleaning the interior, remove all food, drinks, shelves, drawers, etc.
  • Use a soft cloth or sponge to clean the inside of the refrigerator, using two tablespoons of baking soda in a litre of warm water. Then rinse with water and wipe clean. After cleaning, open the door and let the interior dry naturally before turning on the power.
  • For areas that are difficult to clean in the refrigerator (such as narrow channels, gaps or corners), it is recommended that they are wiped regularly with a soft cloth, soft brush, etc., and if necessary, in combination with suitable tools (such as thin scrapers) to ensure no contaminants or bacterial accumulation in these areas.
  • Do not use soap, detergent, abrasive powder, spray cleaner, etc., as these may cause odours in the interior of the refrigerator or contaminate the food.
  • Clean the bottle trays, shelves and drawers with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water or diluted detergent. Dry with a soft cloth or dry naturally.
  • Wipe the outer surface of the refrigerator with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water, detergent, etc., and then wipe dry.
  • Do not use hard brushes, scourers, wire brushes, abrasives (such as toothpaste), organic solvents (such as alcohol, acetone, banana oil, etc.), boiling water, acid or alkaline cleaners, which may damage the refrigerator surface and interior. Boiling water and organic solvents such as benzene may deform or damage plastic parts.
  • Do not rinse directly with water or other liquids during cleaning to avoid short circuits or affect electrical insulation after immersion.

MANUALLY DEFROSTING THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT

  • Turn the thermostat dial to the OFF position and leave the freezer compartment door open.
  • Transfer food items, the ice tray and the shelf from the freezer compartment to the refrigerator compartment.
  • Clean the freezer compartment and wipe up melted ice with a cloth.
  • After defrosting, turn the thermostat dial back to its original position.

NOTE: To prevent damage to the walls of the freezer compartment, do not use sharp objects to remove ice or to separate packs of food.

WHEN NOT IN USE

  • Power failure: In the event of a power cut, food can be preserved inside the refrigerator for several hours, even in summer. While the power is off, you should open the door as infrequently as possible and avoid placing any more fresh food in the refrigerator.
  • Long-term non-use: Unplug the refrigerator and clean it, then leave the door open to prevent odours from developing.
  • Moving: Before moving the refrigerator, remove all the food from inside and secure the glass partitions, vegetable holder, freezing compartment drawers etc. with tape. Raise the levelling feet, close the door and secure it with tape. During moving, do not lay the refrigerator upside down or horizontally, or subject it to vibration. Do not tilt the refrigerator by more than 45º. Do not lift the refrigerator by the door or hinge when moving it.

Let the refrigerator run continuously after you turn it back on. Try to avoid turning the refrigerator on and off during normal use, as this can affect the refrigerator’s service life.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Appliance not working| Check whether the refrigerator is plugged in and connected to power.

Check whether the voltage is too low. Check whether there is a power failure or a circuit breaker has tripped.

---|---
Odour| Food with a strong odour should be

tightly wrapped. Check whether there is any spoiled food. Clean the inside of the refrigerator.

Prolonged oper- ation of the com- pressor| Prolonged operation of the compressor is normal in summer when the ambient temperature is high.

Do not put too much food in the refrigerator at one time. Do not put food in the refrigerator until it has cooled down.

The door is opened too frequently.

Light does not turn on| Check whether the refrigerator is connected to the power supply and whether the light is damaged.

Have the light replaced by a specialist.

Door does not close properly| The door is obstructed by food packages. Too much food in the refrigerator.

The refrigerator is tilted.

Loud noise| Check that the floor is level and the refrigerator is firmly supported. Check whether accessories are placed in the correct locations.
Door does not seal correctly| Remove foreign matter from the door seal. Heat the door seal and let it cool to restore

its shape (use a hair dryer or hot towel to heat the seal).

Water tray over- flows

| There is too much food in the compartment or the food contains too much water, resulting in excessive defrosting. The door  is not closing properly, resulting in frosting

due to the entry of air, followed by excessive defrosting.

---|---

Hot housing

| Excess heat from the built-in condenser is dissipated via the housing, which is normal. When the housing becomes hot due to a high ambient temperature, storage of too much food or because the compressor has shut down, make sure there is good ventilation in the room to facilitate heat dissipation.

Surface conden- sation

| Condensation on the exterior surface and door seals of the refrigerator is normal when the ambient humidity is too high. Just wipe the condensate with a clean towel.

Abnormal noise

| Buzzing: The compressor may produce a buzzing sound during operation,

especially when the refrigerator starts up or stops. This is normal. Creaking: Refrigerant flowing inside the appliance may produce creaking, which is normal.
