PRODUCT-SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- The unit becomes very hot during operation. Only touch the unit’s handle.
- Do not place the unit near flammable materials, such as curtains.
- Do not try to remove the bread from the unit during toasting.
- The toaster is not designed to be used with a timer; never leave it unattended during operation.
BEFORE FIRST USE
As there may be manufacturing residue on the toaster or heating element, it may emit an odor on first use. This is normal when the toaster is new, and will not occur after several times of use.
Before first use, we recommend you operate the appliance following the instructions in “Using your toaster” below, but without bread. Then allow the toaster to cool before toasting your first slice of bread.
USING YOUR TOASTER
-
Put a regular sized bread slice into the bread slot. You can insert a maximum of two slices per toasting. If you want to toast the bread on one side only, or to toast bulky bread slices, place the bread on the roll warmer (do not toast more than one slice at a time). To do this, press the roll warmer lever down to unfold the rack. Then place the bread on the roll warmer.
-
Connect the mains plug to the wall socket.
-
Set the toasting dial to the desired setting. There are 7 settings: 1 is the lowest minimum toasting level) and 7 is the highest (maximum toasting level). The medium setting makes golden brown toast..
NOTE:
-
If you toast one slice only, it will be toasted browner than when two slices are toasted on the same setting.
-
If you run several consecutive toasting cycles, each round of toast will be browner than the last.
-
-
Press the lever down until it locks into place (the stop indicator will light up and toasting will start immediately).
NOTE: The lifting lever can only be locked into the toasting position when the mains lead is connected to the power supply. -
When the bread has finished toasting, the lifting lever will automatically rise up (you can raise the lifting lever slightly to make the toast easier to reach).
NOTE: You can stop the toasting at any time by pressing STOP (never try to stop the
toasting by lifting the lever). -
You can also toast frozen bread. Press the “DEFROST” button immediately after pressing the lifting lever until it locks into place. This type of toasting may take longer than usual.
-
You can also reheat toast that has gone cold. Press the “REHEAT” button immediately after pressing the lifting lever until it locks into place. The toasting time cannot be adjusted in this setting, so when the reheating time has elapsed, the lifting lever will automatically rise up and the reheating will stop.
CAUTION!
-
Remove all packaging materials before using the toaster.
-
If the toaster starts giving off smoke, interrupt the toasting immediately by pressing the
stop button. -
Do not toast bread with runny toppings (e.g. butter).
-
If bread gets stuck in the toaster, disconnect the appliance atthe wall socket before removing the bread. Take care not to damage the internal mechanism or heating elements when removing bread that is stuck in the toaster.
-
The bread slot is only designed for toasting ordinary sliced bread. Rolls and bulky bread slices can be toasted on the roll warmer.
-
For best results, wait a minimum of 30 seconds between each toasting (this will reset the toasting level).
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Before cleaning, disconnect the appliance from the wall socket and allow it to cool.
- Wipe the outside of the appliance with a soft, dry cloth (do not use metal polish).
- Pull out the crumb tray (located in the base of the toaster) and empty it. If you use the toaster frequently, remove the crumbs at least once a week. Make sure the crumb tray is completely closed before using the toaster.
- Roll up the mains lead underneath the base when the toaster is not in use.
