BATTERY WARNINGS

Important Notice: Lithium batteries are significantly more volatile than other chemistries used in R/C applications such as alkaline, Ni-Cd or NiMH. Please follow all instructions and heed all warnings exactly to prevent personal injury and/or property damage, as mishandling of Lithium batteries can result in a fire. By handling, charging or using the included battery you assume all risks associated with such batteries. If you do not agree with these conditions, please return your complete product in new, unused condition to the place of purchase immediately. Please read the following safety instructions and warnings before handling, charging or using the Lithium battery.

  • Always charge the battery is a safe area away from any flammable materials
  • Never leave the battery unattended while charging at any time. When charging the battery you should remain in constant observation to monitor the charging process and react immediately to any potential problems that may occur.
  • After running you must allow the battery to cool down to room temperature prior to recharging. Also, it is NOT recommended or necessary to discharge the battery completely prior to recharging, as these types of batteries do not have a memory like other types of cells.
  • To charge the battery you must use only the stock included USB charger or a suitably compatible charger. NEVER use a charger designed for use with NiCd or NiMH batteries to charge a lithium battery
  • If at any time during the charge or discharge process the battery begins to balloon or swell, discontinue charging or discharging immediately. Quickly and safely disconnect the battery then place it in a safe, open area away from flammable materials and observe for a minimum of 15 minutes. Continued charging of a swollen battery can result in an explosion or fire. Immediately discontinue using any battery exhibiting evidence of swelling.
  • Always store the battery at about 50% charge in a cool, dry area away from direct heat or sunlight.
  • Never store a battery in a high-temperature environment like the front seat of an automobile, or in direct sunlight. High temperatures encourage swelling and possible fires or explosion.
  • Do not over-discharge the battery pack. Discharging a lithium battery too deeply can cause damage that results in reduced power, run times, or complete failure.
  • The R18MT features a “soft” low voltage cutoff (INC) feature that smoothly reduces power automatically when the battery pack is close to being discharged. This guards against discharging the battery too deeply, which causes battery damage. Stop running the R18MT when you notice the speed of the vehicle being drastically reduced.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Do not leave the battery connected to the electronic speed control unless you are ready for operation. Likewise, disconnect the battery from the ESC after each run. Even when not in use, the ESC draws a small amount of current which is adequate to discharge and permanently damage the battery pack. It can sometimes take a few hours or even up to a few days to over- discharge the battery this way but if happens will likely cause permanent damage to or failure of the battery entirely (which is not covered under warranty).
  • Do not store the battery pack fully charged. For improved safety and longest service life, it is highly recommended that the battery be stored at approximately 50% charged. After running your R18MT to LVC, charge the battery for about 1-1 1/2 hours before putting away for days or weeks.

  2. On/Off switch
  3. Battery LED
  4. Bind button
  5. Steering reverse switch (reverses right/left steering control)
  6. Throttle reverse switch (default is pull left for forward, push right for brakes and reverse)

Installations

Install 4 x AA alkaline batteries (not included) making certain to note proper polarity

DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE

DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE

  1. Install a fully charged battery into the R18MT
  2. Turn the ESC switch to the ON position
  3. Turn on the transmitter by sliding the power switch to the ON position. If the LED does not illuminate check to ensure proper installation and Battery condition.

DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE

  • Drive forward slowly by pulling the trigger a small amount. The further you pull the trigger, the faster it goes. To apply brakes, push the trigger gently. To engage reverse, push again.
  • Always release the trigger during a crash.
  • To turn, rotate the steering wheel to the left or right and the R18MT will turn in the same direction.
  • Remember that the steering rate button will increase or decrease steering sensitivity based on your personal driving preference.

IMPORTANT

  • When the vehicle battery becomes low, the vehicle will stop before discharging the battery too deeply.
  • Allow the battery to cool prior to recharging.

If your vehicle steers or pulls to the right, adjust the steering trim a few clicks at a time to the left until the R18MT tracks straight without any steering input. Do the opposite if the truck pulls to the left.
