General safety information

Before using the appliance for the first time, please read the instructions for use very carefully and keep these safe  together with the warranty certificate, receipt and if possible the box and the inner packaging. If you give the appliance to a third party, you should also provide them with the operating instructions.

  • Only use the appliance privately and for its intended purpose. This appliance is not intended for commercial use. Do not use the appliance outdoors. Keep this appliance away from heat, direct sunlight, humidity (do not submerge in liquids under any circumstances) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance becomes wet or damp, pull the plug out immediately.
  • Switch the appliance off and always pull the plug out of the socket (pull on the plug, not on the cable) when you are not using the appliance, when you are attaching accessories, for cleaning, or if there are any faults.
  • Never leave the appliance unattended. If you leave the room, always switch the appliance off. Pull the plug out of the socket.
  • The appliance and the power cable must be checked regularly for signs of damage. If damage is discovered, stop using the appliance.
  • Do not repair the appliance yourself, instead, contact an authorised professional. In order to avoid hazards, defective power cables should only be replaced with comparable cables by the manufacturer, our customer service department or by similarly qualified individuals.
  • Use original accessories only.
  • Pay attention to the following “Special Safety Instructions”.

  • For the safety of your children, do not leave any of the packaging items (plastic bag, box, polystyrene etc.) within their reach.

Special safety information for this appliance

WARNING:

  • Very dry bread can burn when toasted. For this reason, do not use the appliance close to or below flammable materials such as curtains.
  • During operation, the touchable surfaces can reach an extremely high temperature. There is a danger of burning when removing smaller slices of bread.
  • Never operate the appliance using an external timer or a separate remote control system.
  • The appliance should only be operated under supervision.
  • Never insert forks, knives or other objects into the toasting slot.
  • Never put your fingers into the toasting slot.
  • The metal parts become hot! Risk of burns!
  • The toaster should only be used with the crumb tray pushed in.

ATTENTION

This appliance is not designed to be submersed in water during cleaning. Please follow the instructions on cleaning which we have provided in the “Cleaning” section.

WARNING

Never allow young children to play with the film. There is a danger of suffocation.

  • This appliance may be used by children from the age of eight and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities and/or a lack of knowledge and experience if they are supervised, or where they have been instructed on the safe use of the appliance and are aware of and understand the dangers which may result.
  • Children must not play with the appliance.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children, unless they are 8 years or older and are supervised.
  • The appliance and its power cable must be kept away from children under 8 years.

Correct use of the appliance

This appliance is used to toast slicesof bread and rolls using the toasting attachment.

It has been designed for private use in the household and for similar purposes. It should only be used as per the descriptions provided in these operating instructions. This appliance should not be used for commercial purposes.

Any other use of the appliance shall be deemed to be contrary to the intended purpose and can lead to damage to property or even to personal injury.

The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damages which arise as a result of the use of the appliance contrary to its intended purpose.

Unpacking the appliance

  1. Remove the appliance from its packaging.
  2. Remove all packaging materials such as film, packing material, cable clips and cardboard packaging.
  3. Check that nothing is missing from the delivery.

PLEASE NOTE:

There may still be some dust or production residue on the appliance. We recommend that you clean the appliance before use as described in the “Cleaning” section.

Instructions for use

Before the first use

ATTENTION:

To remove the protective coating on the heater elements, the appliance should be operated approximately three times when it is empty. To do this, please select the highest browning level.

PLEASE NOTE:

Any slight smoke or smells produced during this procedure are normal. Please ensure sufficient ventilation.

Power cable

Unwind the required power cable from the base.

Operation

  • The appliance must only be connected to a correctly installed and earthed power socket, 220–240 V~, 50/60 Hz.
  • Adjust the degree of browning on the selector switch (7) the lightest level 1 to the darkest level 5. If in doubt, start with a lower setting.
  • Insert the slices of bread in the toasting slot and lower the slide (3) with the lever until it snaps into place. The Stop button is illuminated.
  • The appliance starts to toast. When the set level of browning is reached, the appliance switches off automatically. The slide (3) then pops up automatically. The light now goes out.

WARNING:

There is a danger of burning when removing smaller slices of bread.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • The degree of browning can be set independently on both control panels (7).
  • For easier removal of the toast, lift the slide lever (3) gently as required (lift function)

Special functions

To use the desired special functions, please press the respective button (4–6) after depressing the lever.

PLEASE NOTE:

A lit button indicates the function.

Defrosting To thaw and then toast frozen bread.

Warming To warm up bread which has already been toasted.

Stop To end toasting early

Removable toasting attachment

For toasting rolls.

  • Place the toasting attachment on the toasting slot.

WARNING:

  • Do not overfill the toasting attachment.
  • Place no more than one roll or one piece of bread of a similar weight on one toasting attachment.
  • Never spread fat or butter on the roll or piece of bread. Fat can drip down and catch fire!

Storage

WARNING:

As the housing and the metal parts become hot during operation, allow the appliance to cool down before putting it away.

  • Clean the appliance as described and allow it to dry completely. We recommend that you store the appliance in its original packaging if you do not intend to use it for a prolonged period.
  • Store the appliance out of the reach of children in a well ventilated, dry place.

Winder for power cable

The power cable can be wound up on the base.

Cleaning

WARNING:

  • Always pull the plug out of the mains supply before cleaning and wait until the appliance has cooled down.
  • Never submerge the appliance in water for cleaning. Doing so may result in an electric shock or a fire.

ATTENTION:

  • Never use a wire brush or any other abrasive objects.
  • Never use harsh or abrasive detergents.

Housing

To clean the outside of the appliance, use a damp cloth only

Crumb trays

The crumb trays are located at the rear  of the toaster.

  • Pull out the crumb trays.
  • Remove any breadcrumbs and push the trays back in

Troubleshooting

The toasting slides no longer pop up.

| A slice of bread has become jammed in the slot.| Pull the plug out of the socket. Allow the appliance to cool down. Remove the slice of bread using an insulated object, e.g. a wooden stick. Turn the toaster upside down to allow the bread to fall out
