This symbol warns the user that un-insulated dangerous voltage inside the system may cause an electrical shock. Do not open the case.
Class I Appliance symbol. This means the appliance must have the chassis connected to the electrical earth/ground by an earth conductor.
Caution: this symbol reminds the user to read carefully the important operations and maintenance instructions in this owner’s guide.

The following are important notes on the installation, use, and maintenance; save this instruction manual for future reference; use the equipment only as specified in this guide;  any other use is considered improper and dangerous; therefore, the manufacturer cannot be held responsible in the event of damages caused by improper, incorrect or unreasonable use.
Before use, ensure the equipment is undamaged; if in doubt, do not attempt to use it and contact the authorized service center; do not leave packing materials (i.e. plastic bags, polystyrene foam, nails, staples, etc.) within the reach of children as they are potential sources of danger; always remember that they must be separately collected.
Make sure that the rating information given on the technical label are compatible with those of the electricity grid; the installation must be performed according to the manufacturer’s instructions considering the maximum power of the appliance as shown on the label; an incorrect installation may cause damage to people, animals or things, for which the manufacturer cannot be considered responsible thereof.
If it is necessary to use adapters, multiple sockets, or electrical extensions, use only those that comply with current safety standards; in any case do not exceed the power consumption limits indicated on the electrical adapter and/or extensions, as well as the maximum power is shown on multiple adaptors.
Do not leave the unit plugged in; better to remove the plug from the mains when the device is not in use. Always disconnect from the power supply if you leave it unattended. Cleaning operations should be carried out after unplugging the unit.
If the unit is out of order and you do not want to fix it, it must be made inoperable by cutting the power cord.

  • Do not allow the power cord to get closer to sharp objects or in contact with hot surfaces; do not pull it to disconnect the plug.

  • Do not use the appliance in the event of damage to the power cord, or plug, or in case of short circuits; to repair the product only address an authorized service center.

  • Do not handle or touch the appliance with wet hands or bare feet. Do not expose the appliance to harmful weather conditions such as rain, moisture, frost, etc..
    Always store it in a dry place.

  • This appliance can be used by children of 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they  received supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand hazards involved; children shall not play with the appliance; cleaning and  user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

  • Children must not play with the appliance.

  • Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
    If the power cord is damaged, or in case of failure and/or malfunction do not tamper with the unit. The reparation must be done by the manufacturer or by a service center authorized by the manufacturer in order to prevent any risk. Failure to comply with the above may compromise the unit’s safety and invalidate the warranty.
    WARNING: This appliance includes a heating function.
    Surfaces, other than functional surfaces may develop high temperatures. Since temperatures are perceived differently by different people, this device should be used with  CAUTION. Hold the appliance exclusively to grip surfaces intended to be touched.

  • This appliance is intended to be used in households and similar applications such as staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments; by clients in hotels, motels, and other residential type environments; farm houses, bed and breakfast type environments.

  • The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or a separate remote-control system.

  • Before every use, unroll the power cord.

  • Use original spare parts and accessories only.

  • Do not subject the product to strong impacts, serious damages may result.

  • Do not use near or under flammable materials (like curtains), heat, cold spots and steam.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Never leave the appliance unattended while it is running.
Never pour liquids after switching it on.
Once finished, unplug the unit and wait for the cooling of each part before storing or cleaning.
Don’t immerse the appliance in water or liquids. In any case, avoid splashing water or liquids.
Put the appliance on stable shelves and floors.
Keep the unit away from flammable materials, heat, cold spots, and steam.
This appliance is designed to make coffee. Never use other extracts such as cocoa powder, other infusions, or soluble ones: they could damage the unit.
The device should only be used plugged into mains.
Never use the coffee machine on stove or stove tops Fill the water tank before placing the device on the power base and before connecting it to the electrical output.

INSTALLATION

  • Place the appliance on a bench away from the water tap and sinks.
  • Check that the voltage of the main power supply corresponds to the value indicated on the appliance’s rating plate. Only connect the appliance to a power outlet with a  minimum rating of 6A that is properly earthed. The manufacturer declines any liability for any accidents that may happen if the system is not correctly earthed. If the power outlet does not match the electric plug, only qualified personnel can change it with a suitable one.

CONTROL PANEL

A: CLOCK: to set the current hour
B: TIMER: to set the timer,
C: DISPLAY: shows current hour or timer set
D: TIMER ON: to prepare coffee in timer setting
E: ON/OFF: to switch on the appliance
F: KEY LOCK: it blocks the control panel keys when pressing ON/OFF or TIMER ON. Press 3 seconds to deactivate the block.
WARNING: display enters standby mode, and shuts off at the end of the keep warm function, or if for 2 minutes no key is pressed. To switch on the display press ON/OFF (E)

OPERATING THE UNIT

  1. Check that the coffee maker is cold, and then unscrew it by holding the boiler (3) with one hand and turning the pitcher (2) anticlockwise.

  2. Remove the funnel (11) and, to prepare 3 cups of coffee, fill the boiler (3) with fresh water until reaching the safety valve (10) which is visible inside the boiler, without exceeding it. On the other hand, to prepare 1 cup, fill the boiler (3) with water up to the mark (at 2 centimeters) located below the safety valve (10).
    Note: use fresh and soft water. Salty or hard water will weaken the aroma.
    WARNING: do not use the coffee maker without water inside the boiler; never use hot water for faster operation.

  3. Insert the funnel filter (11) in the boiler (3). To prepare 1 cup of coffee, also insert the 3 cups adapter (12) in the funnel filter (11).

  4. Fill the funnel filter (11) with ground coffee, without pressing it. Fill it a little at a time to prevent the coffee from spilling.

  5. Distribute the ground coffee uniformly removing coffee from the edge of the filter.
    Note: Use good quality, medium-ground coffee, for MOKA coffee makers.

  6. Tighten the coffee maker securely, by holding the boiler (3) with one hand and turning the pitcher (2) clockwise, without pushing on the handle. Rest the coffee maker on the electric base (6) and close the lid (1).

  7. Press the on/off key on the panel (8), and the pilot light of the ON/OFF KEY will light on and the key lock (F) is
    activated. The coffee will start to be released from the tube (13) after a few minutes and will be kept
    warm for 30 minutes.

  8. When the pitcher (2) is full, mix the coffee before serving.
    Note: before using the coffee maker for the first time, all the accessories and the internal circuits should be washed with hot water. Then make a few batches of coffee to throw away.

CLOCK SETTING
Connected power supply, LCD CLOCK display default 12:00. To set the clock

  • Press the key “CLOCK” (A) until the current time is reached. Keep pressed to go on quickly.

TIMER SETTING
To set the coffee preparation at the desired hour.
Set the current hour as described in the previous chapter. Press the key “TIMER” (B) Until is reached the hour in which you want to prepare coffee. Keep pressed to go on quickly.

PROGRAMMING COFFEE PREPARATION
After having set the current hour and the timer, follow the steps from 1 to 7 in the chapter “OPERATING THE UNIT”. Then press the key TIMER ON (D) on panel (8). The  TIMER ON pilot light will switch on and the key lock (F) will activate. At the hour set with the timer, the appliance switches on, the TIMER ON pilot light switches off and one of the ON/OFF keys goes on.
Coffee will start to be released from the tube (13) after a few minutes and will be kept warm for 30 minutes.
If you want to make coffee at the same hour already set in the timer, you just have to press the TIMER ON (D) key and put the coffee maker on the base.
KEY LOCK
When pressing the TIMER ON (D) and ON/OFF (E) keys, the key lock function activates automatically, and all keys are disabled. To deactivate that function, press the KEY LOCK (F) for 3 seconds until the KEY LOCK pilot light switches off.

MEMORY
If you unplug the unit, the clock stops, and the timer setting is lost. To keep the settings, the product ha to stay always linked to the power supply, or you have to insert a 3V battery,  model CR2031, In the battery case under the base. To do this:

  • With a screwdriver or a coin rotate anticlockwise the battery case cover
  • Insert CR2031 battery, with + mark side in the upper direction
  • Mount the lid with the screwdriver or the coin.

CLEANING – Unplug the unit and wait until the complete cooling down of each part before starting cleaning operations.
Periodically clean the tube (13) and check that the holes in the disk filter (4) are not blocked; wipe it off with the help of the head of a pin. Periodically check the condition of the funnel (11) and the gasket (5): if you find any signs of tear, you should replace them.
Do not wash the coffee maker in the dishwasher. Do not rinse the boiler. Do not immerse the electric base in water or other liquids and avoid splashing water reaching the unit. In this case, carefully wipe any part of the appliance. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners to clean the unit, wipe with a soft damp sponge making sure not to wet the electrical parts.
Drinking water can cause scale deposits in the valve hole (10). The valve can therefore be stuck, resulting in malfunction and also the unsafety of the appliance. To avoid this inconvenience, during normal cleaning operations, just move the piston that comes out of the safety valve (10). This will keep the valve efficient, will guarantee safety, and will also improve the operation of the device.
