General safety instructions

  •  The batteries are not suitable for private use.
  •  An installation must be performed by qualified electricians taking into account the national safety and accident prevention regulations. Wear protective goggles and protective clothing when working with the batteries.
  •  The batteries must be used in accordance with their intended use in a proper and undamaged condition.
  •  Avoid the build-up of electrostatic charge and discharge/sparks. Risk of explosion.
  •  If the battery casing is damaged, corrosive electrolyte is discharged.
  •  When working with the batteries, first turn off the power completely, ensure that it cannot be turned back on, and check if they are free of voltage. Do not disconnect the battery under load.
  •  When disconnecting under load or in case of short circuits, the arc formed can cause burns.
  •  Do not deposit any foreign objects or tools on the battery.
  •  Be aware of falling parts during transport.
  •  Never hoist or lift block batteries/cells by their poles.
  •  Use only original spare parts for replacement

Mounting- and operating instructions Battery block monitoring

Battery block monitoring  General description The BDM Battery Data Module automatically records voltage and temperature values during initial commissioning and recurring tests. In addition, the battery block monitoring system enables automation of the annual operating life test, manual cyclic measurement of the individual battery block voltage values is no longer required. A potential-free changeover contact reports the operating status to a higher-level building management system if required. Warning and alarm display in the event of deviations in the high charge voltage, charge retention voltage, discharge voltage and battery block temperatures of each individual battery block are displayed and logged on the TFT touch display and by the maximum 72 battery block sensors (BBS). The wireless data transmission of the sensor data to the BDM module simplifies the installation of the BBS battery block sensors as no additional data line is required. The minus poletemperature measurement via the sensor cable ensuresthat no direct, temperature conductive connection of theBBS battery block sensor to the battery housing is necessary. Easily recognizable status displays through robust BBSsensorhousingwithintegrated, mechanically protected LED provide clarity at first glance. An automatic configuration routine via soft addressing and the menu navigation of the TFT touch display via user iconsmakes it very easy to register the sensors with the system.EATON 40071361780 Battery Block

Battery block monitoring

The Battery Data Module (BDM module) is installed in the DualGuard-S compact or floor-standing cabinets. The wireless data transfer from the battery block sensors to the BDM module mounted in the DualGuard-S device is ensured up to a distance of 15 meters.EATON 40071361780 Battery Block Monitoring

Mounting/connecting the battery block sensors

After installing the battery terminal jumpers, connect the battery block sensors. Pay attention to correct polarity. Connect the black minus cable with battery minus and the red plus cable with battery plus. As the battery block temperature measurement is carried out via the negative lead of the battery block sensor, the battery block sensor housing does not need to have a heat conducting connection with the battery block housing.

Retrofitting of BDM modules

For the subsequent installation of the BDM modules in the DualGuard-S devices an adapter is required which is clicked into the DIN rail. The DIN rail adapter supplies the BDM module with 24V voltage and establishes the bus connection to the ACU module.

  •  Remove the ACU module from the DIN rail.
  •  Click the DIN rail adapter into the DIN rail.
  •  Snap on the ACU module.
  •  Snap on BDM module or CAN bus adapter.

If the ACU module and the BDM module are mounted separately, the CAN bus adapter must be installed next to the ACU module for the bus connection. The BDM module is then connected to the CAN bus adapter via a 4-wire shielded bus cable.

SAFETY NOTICE WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!

Improper installation and installation can lead to serious personal injury and/or damage to property. This work may therefore only be carried out by authorized, instructed personnel familiar with the operation of the device and in compliance with all safety regulations.

  • Ensure sufficient freedom of movement.
  • Ensure order and cleanliness at the workplace.
  • Loose or loose components and tools are sources of accidents!
