Q&A
What do I need to get started?
- SNOO bassinet (+ optional mobility cart)
- Reusable and/or disposable covers for SNOO mesh and mattress
- Clean SNOO Sleep Sack and fitted mattress sheet
- (optional) iPad with SNOO mobile app
How do I use the SNOO Sleep Sack swaddles?
- Unzip the sack and spread open the inner bands. Lay the baby down on top of unzipped SNOO sack, placing shoulders 2-3” higher than the top of the sack.
- Straighten the arms, pull the inner bands around, and attach them very snugly! The bottom edge of the bands should cover most of the hands.
- Pull diaper flap up and secure over the band.
- Pull the fabric at the top up and over each shoulder and zip the sack completely.
How do I place the baby in SNOO?
- Lay the swaddled baby inside the SNOO on his or her back.
- Slide the loop on the end of each swaddle wing over the safety clips on each side of the platform.
How do I turn SNOO on?
- Press the activity button on the front of SNOO. Once the white light stops blinking (usually takes <1 minute), push the button. The light will turn blue and SNOO will turn on.
- When the baby fusses, SNOO will wait a few seconds before responding. If the crying continues, the bed will move through 4 levels of higher sound/motion until the fussing stops or SNOO times out (after ~3 minutes of continued crying).
- To increase the level manually, push the activity button for several seconds.
- To stop SNOO, simply push the activity button once. To reduce the level of activity, you must use the SNOO Mobile App, or simply wait and SNOO will reduce its level – step by step – over the next 5-10 minutes.
How do I clean SNOO?
Prior to use:
-
Place a waterproof white reusable mesh cover OR a blue disposable mesh cover to completely cover the bassinet.
-
(If using blue disposables) Place the sealed mattress inside the removable blue waterproof cover.
-
Place a clean cotton mattress sheet over the covered mattress.
Cleaning instructions: -
Use CaviWipes or a hydrogen peroxide-based disinfectant to clean the SNOO, mobility cart, reusable covers, and sealed mattress if visibly soiled, between patients, and every 7 days (if in use). The surface should remain visibly wet for 1 minute at room temperature.
-
Launder in accordance with standard hospital laundering practices and protocols; a temperature of at least 160°F (71°C) for a minimum of 25 minutes is commonly recommended for hot-water washing.
