INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on your purchase of the Marmitek MegaView 91™! The MegaView 91™ provides a simple way to extend an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) signal or DVI (Digital Visual Interface) over a single CAT5e/6 Ethernet cable. It even works on your existing home network (LAN) including routers and switchers. The maximum CAT5e/6 cable length is 120 metres, at a 1080p resolution. Watch TV programs, films and photos stored on, for example, a digital TV decoder, Media Center PC, Bluray player or HDD recorder located elsewhere in your home. Several receivers may simultaneously be connected to the same network. The builtin loop-through function (HDMI out) on the transmitter allows you to watch the same content on both your primary HDTV and your secondary HDTV or HD projector (through the receiver). All Marmitek products are manufactured with the utmost precision and are of high quality. CAT5e/CAT6 CABLE REQUIREMENTS

•  UTP-, FTP- or STP-cable
•  24AWG or lower
•  Solid twisted pair
•  100 ohm at 1MHz
•  RJ-45 jack according to EIA/TIA T568B standard
  When the set is connected to a home network (LAN), Marmitek recommends the use of switchers and routers with Gigabit (1000Mbps) network ports for best performance. Instead of CAT5e cable, CAT6 cable may also be applied (this offers better quality). Use a ‘solid twisted pair CAT-5e or CAT-6 cable’ in order to optimise transfer quality.

INSTALLATION

1.  Switch off all appliances before you start connecting.
2.  Connect the HDMI source (Blu-ray disc player, TV Decoder, Media Centre PC, etc.) to the MegaView 91 transmitter [1], using an HDMI cable (not provided).
3.  Optional: connect an HDTV to the MegaView 91™ transmitter [2] with an HDMI cable to HDMI OUT, to be able to continue to watch TV in this room.
4.  Connect your HDTV or HD projector to the MegaView 91™ receiver [3] with an HDMI cable to HDMI OUT.
5.  Use one CAT5e/6 Ethernet cable to connect the MegaView 91’s transmitter to the receiver [4].
   •  The MegaView 91™ can either be connected by using a single cable, or through an existing home network (LAN) in combination with network switches and routers.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to connect additional receivers.
7.  Connect the power adapter [5] to the ‘5VDC’ connection on the MegaView 91™ and plug the adapters into a socket.

INSTALLATION IR RETURN

The MegaView 91™ has a built-in “infrared return channel”, which allows you to operate the connected device from another room or through closed cabinet doors using your own remote control.
Connect the IR receiver to the MegaView 91™ receiver [6].

•  Position it so that it is visible to your (infrared) remote control, allowing it to receive the transmitted commands (up to 6 metres).
•  The most logical place for the IR receiver is in the vicinity of your display device (HDTV or projector).
•  By using the supplied adhesive strip, placement is possible virtually anywhere.
•  Experiment to find the right position before definitive attachment of the IR receiver. Attention! The adhesive strip may cause discolouration on certain surfaces, or may leave adhesive residue when removed.

Connect the IR extender cable to the MegaView 91™ transmitter [7].

•  Stick the IR blaster LED near the HDMI source.
•  When positioned correctly, one blaster LED can operate all A/V devices within the same compartment of a cabinet.
•  Experiment to find the right position before definitive attachment of the IR blaster LED.

USAGE

1.  Switch on the HDMI source (e.g. TV Decoder or Media Centre PC).
2.  Switch on the display device (for instance HDTV or projector) and select the appropriate input. Usually you will do this by pressing the A/V or EXT button of your remote control.
3.  You will receive images from the connected A/V device immediately.
4.  The MegaView 91™ can also be used to operate the HDMI source from another room, by pointing your own remote control at the IR receiver and pressing a button
5.  When everything is working normally, the ‘DATA’ LED on the receiver will flash rapidly and the ‘LINK’ LED will light up continuously

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

• Bad (or no) image and sound
•  Please check that the HDMI source is on.
•  Use only CAT5e/CAT6 cable as specified in chapter 3 (CAT5e Cable Requirements).
•  Check if the CAT5e/CAT6 cable provides a solid connection (no cable faults).
•  Check if the RJ-45 has been connected according to the EIA/TIA T568B standard.
•  Please ensure that the maximum cable length is not exceeded.
•  Install your system as far away from any RF sources (wireless devices) as possible.
•  Set a low resolution on your HDMI source. The CAT5e/6 cable used probably cannot deal with the higher resolution bandwidth.

The screen will display the text “Waiting for connection”

•  When both the ‘’LINK’’ and ‘’DATA’’ LEDs are not lit on the receiver, check the cable connections to the transmitter and the sender.
•  When the transmitter and receiver are connected through a network (with routers/switches), and the “DATA” LED is slowly blinking on the receiver, check the cable connection between the transmitter and the network.

Connecting multiple devices

Additional receiver
An additional receiver can be used to connect multiple HDTVs or HD projectors simultaneously to the same network.
